DOWNLOAD THE FINAl VERSION HERE:

At the moment I'm working together with my brother on a Star Wars game, which is similar to the Star Wars Rogue Squadron series (one of my favourite game series). The game is programmed with the DGDK and all models are made with Blender. As in the Rogue Squadron series you will play through different missions known from the orginal movies and some "invented" missions. At the moment there are only flight missions planned, but maybe I will have a look at ground missions sometime in the future.

Here are two screens from a cutscene (real-time):

And some in-game screens (without HUD):

A suggestion on your trees, it looks like you instanced or cloned them, to make them appear different randomly rotate them betweek 0 and 359 degrees on the y axis to make them appear as different trees. This is a good way to recycle the same tree over and over again. Additionally, depending upon how they are made you might consider scaling them all with a little bit of randomness as well.

Great work!

To me, it shouts 'Terminal Velocity' all over.

And thát is a good thing. It's a faster paced, prettier, more spectacular and far more immensive version of Terminal Velocity, and that game is in my opinion a classic. Game looking very good here tobi453 - if you can keep this quality level, some diverse levels and objectives and I'd say you've got a unique title on your hands for these forums.

Thank you for all your comments.

I'm working currently on a Hoth-mission and I am also planning a Death-Star mission. I will try to release a demo by the end of this month.

Attached is a new pic of the hoth mission.

Awesome job, graphically and the gameplay. Keep up the good work and this could well be one of the better DBP games ever made .

Doh, I even saw that, I guess I'm just so used to them being made into DBP, heh. Let me rephrase that. One of the better WIP games on here we've seen .

I love those health bars on the enemies! In your game, do you just go on missions to blow stuff up without a real plot besides defeating the enemy or will it be based around a certain time period in the Star Wars universe? It would be cool if you had some of the later fighter models like the E-wing and K-wing. I hope progress goes well and that you get your game finished. Good luck!

@Crazy Ninja:
Most of the missions will be scenes from episode 4,5 and 6 like hoth or the death star. I'm also planning space missions sometime in the future. At the moment progress is indeed going very well, I hope to finish the snowspeeder 's harpoon and tow cable tomorrow, so that you can fly around an ATAT and make it fall down.

@Alquerian:
Thanks for the good idea, I will improve the trees.

Very very cool man. I really like how you captured the N64 feel of the game. My boys play it all the time and it is striking how similar your work is to some of the older Star Wars games.

Very nice. It was a long time ago I played Rogue Squadron, but I remember I liked it. And it seems to me that you've been able to capture the gameplay quite well (but I prefer your ATAT + wire system ). Keep up the good work.

That looks really awesome! I can't wait to play it! Only one thing - isn't the ship in front of the player in this pic supposed to be waaay bigger than that? I'm not a starwars buff, but it seems like it's supposed to be much bigger.

I've noticed the blockade runners (or Corellian Corvettes depending on how nerdy you are) have been different sizes in the various Star Wars games. The same goes for Star Destroyers, they always seem smaller regardless of their class/design. I remember in Rogue Squadron (at least the first one) they are quite small, especially compared to the one at the end of Episode 3 which could fit Grievous' prototype bomber easily inside.

Star Destroyers are supposed to be absolutely enormous. The Corellian Corvettes shouldn't be too small, but tiny compared to a Star Destroyer.

And I am saying many ships seem smaller in the games than in the movies. I gave an example of a ship if felt wasnt big enough in many games.

The size of the blockade runner should be the same as in "battle of endor" in rogue leader. If the ship was bigger, it wouldn't fit to the mission.

tobi453 in my opinion you're on the right track, I believe that when we're doing something based on an universe (in this case star wars) we should make it the more close to that universe so that people can identify it and feel it,so I don't think you should copy every detail like the actual size, just make a fun game.

Jna99, I agree with you. Fun is more important than accuracy. An important part of the starwars feeling is the music. And that's a problem. Am I allowed to use the starwars music in my game? I think I am allowed to use the starwars main theme, because you can download it everywhere, but what about the other music titles? Am I allowed to use them?

the copyright issues are really a pain in the...well is like this normally lucasarts is very open to that issue, if you don't intend to sell they allow you to use the sounds etc.. problem here is that if you're interested in enter in a competition like the NVidia Comp you will be blocked, because you're not the author of the music for instance.
One solution is grab a music made by someone on the net(midi style), another solution and very illegal would be find a program that modifies the frequency or any other stuff, so that the music is not the original but people can't tell where's it from....

If you have a list of songs you want from all the diff star wars soundtracks, I can re-create and make arrangements of them so they are more unique....

Thanks for your help, Nemesis_0_. At the moment the most important track I need is "Battle of Hoth". It would be nice if you can make this track for me.

I'm a Star Wars nerd, and seeing this game has made me dust off my N64 and play Rogue Squadron, lol! This looks really good, the AI actually looks smart, and it looks fun to play. Can't wait to see a demo.

Looks very polished.

Can't comment on gameplay I'm afraid, but the graphics look very slick. The only obvious thing I can see is the smoke particles, which probably need to be re-worked.

Other than that it looks great.

Wow!!!

This project looks awesome - the best DB based project I've ever seen, not only great looking but looks really fun to play too. I have the Gamecube RS games and in some ways the gameplay of yours looked even better! Those explosions really had bite and nice touches like the snow (dust) when the Walker fell really gave a nice feel.

Please keep it up with this project - I think you have a winner

Hi guys,

sorry that I didn't post anything last month, but I have been very busy. Now I have time again to continue working on the project.

I've improved the vegetation in the first mission. Here's a screenshot:

@jna99:
Yes, please upload the music somewhere.

@Brandon the game maker:
I will release a demo, when the third mission is complete. (Hopefully by the end of this month.) Here's an early screen of the third mission:
