Warning! Mild Violence and possible abusive language or content online (although this is banned). Play at your own risk. Recommended for ages 13 and older.

Hosting your own server doesn't imply that you will receive any benefits or profit. You simply are able to host your own server, and I have the power and right to remove it from the server list at any time.

There are a lot of images to see! Please check my other posts as I do not add them to my first post often.

NEWS (updated September 13, 2008)

SERVER STATUS
=====================================
Main Server List Status: Online! You can't play online when this one is down.
=====================================

Hey everyone! Remember this project? Well it has been revived, from scratch! Now it's using Vegetator Professional! I haven't put very much vegetation in yet but it's coming.

Time Front is an online FPS with rank-based gameplay. Basically, there are two castles, and the lord of each of castle is a human player, and when he or she dies the game is over and the opposing team wins. Right now, everyone spawns in one castle, and you just shoot each other, but it's a start!

For more information on the game, go to: http://timefront.atspace.com.

For now, follow these directions to play online!

1. Download the game:
2. Run the EXE file.
3. Set the graphics options.
4. Click Play Online.
5. Click Join.
6. Click Refresh List.
7. Choose and click an IP address from the list and play!

IMPORTANT: I have a server set up that handles the list of other servers, so I need someone who can host to host the game. The host cannot play but he can join his own game, even from the same computer (although this will cause framerate drops and probably some sound effects errors). There's no cost or anything. Here's how to do it:

Behind a router:

1. Forward port 3999 to your local IP address (note: I am not responsible for the effects of this action. You are entirely responsible for the risks or dangers or effects on you or your machine by forwarded your port(s) and/or hosting online in Time Front).
2. Click Play Online.
3. Click Host.
4. Enter your local IP address.
5. Click Host Internet.

Not behind a router:

1. Click Play Online.
2. Click Host.
3. Enter your internet IP address.
4. Click Host Internet. (note: I am not responsible for the effects of this action. You are entirely responsible for the risks or dangers or effects on you or your machine by hosting online in Time Front).

There's not too much you can do. You spawn with a bow and it's a two-shot kill, but have fun trying it out!

Controls:

w a s d (walk)
left mouse button (shoot)
mouse (aim)
enter (chat)
There are also some secrets that I may tell you if you play online with me!

All graphics options in the options menu are fully functioning.

Bloom shot!

The MP40 (which I did not make by the way):

Here's a shot of the current world:

A shot of the new soft vegetation:

A scene showing the new bridge added in!

That's it! Let me know how things work, and the bugs I need to fix.

Please don't use any of the media files in the folders as this is illegal! Thank you!

Awesome, sounds like fun ^^. I downloaded the demo but no servers were up ><. Not sure if my router will let me host a game either, but I'll keep an eye out for servers so I can get a chance to play.

Well, I just downloaded it. Every time I try to host (LAN or Internet) it crashes out of the menu after about 10 seconds of starting the server. I then tried to join a server. I saw the server list, there were 2 IPs. One was mine (from my earlier host attempt) and the other, I dunno. I tried joining the other, but it loaded up the map and stuff, but it was telling me that it "failed to connect to server" in the top left menu.

So I dunno what's up, was looking forward to giving it a go. Maybe if you are online tonight we can do some bug hunting.

Edit: Forwarded the port and everything, still no go...

Thanks. It's possible that I could set up my own server temporarily, but it might interfere with the main server, unless I use a different port. Either way I'd have to upload a new EXE. But I can do that if you guys want me to.

Dink, I don't know why it would crash when hosting! Hopefully we can figure it out, I want to get this working!

Ok! Update 1.01 (top post) fixes the problem of a server. Using separate ports, I have the main server AND a game hosted. So just follow the update instructions at the top, then launch the game and choose the IP that starts with 71 from the list.

EDIT: banner test.

I gave it a shot with the 1.01 update, and it launched the server ok, but after a while of loading stuff it threw a memory exception error. My IP is the one ending in 237.197.

This is very cool, I love the way the bow works. I managed to join the 71 server and walk around, no one seemed to be playing though.
The server randomly put up the message " was killed", but don't think anyone was there.

Also I found a bug, if you press escape during the game, and then try to refresh the server list again, it gives an array out of bounds error at line 3981.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, there are bugs but I plan to fix them all soon. Sorry if anyone tried to join, the server had crashed. It's up again now.

Join the first server on the list.

Haha, I found a funny bug. If you rotate the camera and look upside down, you can shoot your arrows up instead of down

As soon as I click on join it freezes, so I haven't been able to get into it yet.

Hmm, well when I refresh the list I can see a server, but when I click "Join" it loads, then tells me "Failed to connect to server." and it wont let me move.

Probably was a user who hosted then disconnected (the server doesn't forget ), or was simply behind a router. I can host one on my computer again. Check the list in about half an hour.

Well now it's telling me that I can't connect to the "Main Time Front Server" and it will only let me create a LAN game, and since no one else is there it wont let me do anything but fly around. Is there a way to play by yourself?

Sorry about that! I came home and found that our internet had died! Had to reset the router.

Unfortunetely, you can't play alone yet. Be sure though that in the next big update I'll add a training mode for you can play alone. See, the game relies on other players, with different ranks and such, so it's vital to have other people online.

Appreciate it.

Here's the armoury I'm adding in, which you'll be able to buy and sell different weapons from. I like to keep things simple:

Here's a new terrain I'm making for the next beta. It will be castle against castle, and you'll be able to shoot across the cliffs (please ignore thatgreen bar):

Also can i suggest adding Set Window Layout command? Even Dark Basic Pro makes the window itself the wine emulator on linux does not regonize it until dbpro program have called Set Window Layout command

So its pretty akward to play without the window borders.

In the brief time I had to try it a few days ago it was quite cool to play, but very buggy. I managed to kill somebody *once* afterwhich everybody was invincible to my arrows. Also would be nice if the escape key could be used to exit the chat bar instead of the program.

Doh, sorry Draknir! I'll try to take care of those errors.

To everyone else, thanks. Roxas, I can do that, sure.

Here's a shot showing soft vegetation. I should have done this a long time ago, it looks much better:

Until then, here's a shot that you can look at. I'm rather proud of it, it's probably the most game-like world shot I've ever taken (it looks like it would work in a game, I mean):

Haha, thanks again for the support guys.

Here's a simple shooting range I made. I made it up quickly so I can add it to the game so that there will be a single player portion of the game to test in case the server is down:

And it will continue to do so.

A shot of the shooting range in the training map. I need to increase the resolution of the texture a bit...oh, plus I have the wrong transparency mode on the trees.

Well, it's one step closer! I've added the bridge to the map:

Here are just some of the changes in the next beta:

Added scoping.
Added new map.
Added training mode.
Fixed bugs.
Hid the bow and arrow that floats under the map and is visible through the ground.
Made soft vegetation and trees.
Decreased lag when playing online.
Removed crashing bug when quiting game and joining another server.

By the way Roxas, I realized something. Why WOULD you want to have window borders?

I really like the test thing. A couple things you could add at them moment would be the ability to clear arrows from the targets, or possibly go up close and check out your shooting. Also add some arrow firing sounds, and rushing wind to go along with the camera following it.

One problem I figured out really quick is if you fire an arrow outside the map it never stops so you have to restart, you should add a bounding box, or some terrain outside the map to stop the arrow, or if it goes outside just reset the camera.

Thanks Osiris. There is a firing sound you just can't hear it cause the wind's too loud.
