It wasn't long after the world ran dry of all of it's resources in 2020 that wars broke out. Who's keeping what from whom? countries can't know. the remaining bits of budget and fuel are devoted to the space program, and with luck from up above it found an inhabitable planet... we hope.

They say that in the event of a truly global disaster, only the rich and powerful will survive. I think that the calm, confident, charismatic, and collected should have a chance too. It's time we took a stand, and got out of this mess of a world.

About 4 hours ago, nuclear threats from Russia surfaced. in 1 hour, the last shuttle to the only other human-inhabitable planet in the universe leaves. We're going to be on that shuttle.

==========
In When Worlds Collide's overhaul, you can expect more exciting firefights, more challenging puzzles, more over-the-top platforming, and more gameplay length! The game is still free, and I'm hopeful will have about 45 minutes of gameplay!

Well this is a shocker

Looks great as always. Except the one thing I found really, really, really awesome was how the wire wraps around the grates on the ceiling in the first screen. Little details like that can really make a game.

Cheesehead for life.

Instead of filling a 19 page WIP thread with 70+ screenshots and 7 trailers (like you did the last time), you could provide something playable on the first page of this thread.

That would be an overhaul

could've swore there was more actually!

but since I'm starting from scratch I don't think having worked for 2 days is enough time to really create something playable. I will, however, release a demo of 1 level pre release. which ever level (except the 1, 8, or 9) that you guys would like.

what happened to the "old game" from that gigantic WIP thread????

Quote: "In When Worlds Collide's overhaul, you can expect more exciting firefights, more challenging puzzles, more over-the-top platforming, and more gameplay length"

I can't remember actually enjoying "exciting firefights", "challenging puzzles" or "over the top platforming" in a game called "When Worlds Collide"

Or did I just misunderstand you (native German speaker ) and you meant even more promises of all the above compared to the last WIP thread's promises?

well, I just mean I've improved upon the gameplay of the last games. the graphics will be a little nicer too as the poly count limits of the old game have been increased a bit.

it's the same game, but I'd like to start fresh, everything is the same, the gameplay style and whatnot, I'm just making it... bigger.

if you'd like to add me on skype or msn, I'd be glad to give you a build right now today if it makes you happy

Looking Great, man
Can't wait to see how its going to turn out. Another suggestion is maybe that you could have an 'update' section in your first post, so that all your screens and major news could be shown? Or do some kind of thing like how wolf does, with a post every week or so dedicated to it, with plain and easy to see header images saying 'news' or something

I hope this goes really well, and that your motherboard is now something a little better than being taped together (true story)

If you require me at any stage, More than happy to help, be it texturing or voice acting, etc. How cool would this be with a good 'ol aussie protagonist

BOTB in the making. Hope all goes well!

will come out of this , I'll abstain from commenting WIP threads that have NO demo for a FULL YEAR.

thanks ben!

@ storyteller- I can totally understand your need for a demo. most games here don't get released, and several of my threads have even gotten buried with no demo, but this game is different, it's my main project, and whether you end up seeing a demo today, next week, or in 10 years, it will get finished, and that's what counts.

Well count me in, i usually just use white for most games. But the medieval one im making right now is using a redish/orange color for the torches..

please do us all a favour and never ever ever again use white.
in real life, there is no such thing as a white light.

Perfect lighting colours for 0 ambience- unless otherwise specified, use something around 500 as the range.

353226 range 500. makes an excellent large empty room lighting. especially coupled with warmer highlights

283526 range 500. makes an excellent greenish glow

262b35 a dark reddish highlight

263435 a good drab yellow. good for rural outdoors and hallways

222222 a good white for moody hallways. 300 range

405e48 a good green colour

62633a Incredible blue in 0 ambience

Thank you so much Bugsy! Im loving the colors! And isn't the sun categorized as white light? Like it's not exactly white light, but i guess the light coming from it is? I don't know, never mind

Thanks again!

sun should be a middle-range yellowish or bluish with a range of about 2000. use multiple if necessary.

The level design and the lighting are very good. Anyway, what to expect from a good developer like you. I can't comment any negative feedback since I can't see any. Keep up being a great developer.

I did, but I didn't write anything.

The screenshots look amazing. Nice atmosphere you got there.
But in the first screenshot the wall the corkboard is hanging on is transparent a little bit.
Second screenshot looks a little boring, I don't know... Maybe put some little things on the table and the two shelves?
I love the third screenshot! But I'm not sure, if it's supposed to be like that, or not. For me there is a bit too much contrast between the light-color at the top of the room and that at the bottom.

Greetings,
Jan

@theK

thanks

as for the first, I'm 99% sure that the corkboard isnt transparent, but I'll check anyways

and the second, I'll try to add some stuff, but I'm having a massive optimization problem with that map, so I'll want to make fpsc start culling, and quick, before I start adding any real tiny details.

about the third, I thought I'd explain that. I lit it that way because heat rises, and that's a water treatment plant near a sewer system, and the water tanks need to be cooled at the bottom, but then, themselves, give off a lot of heat into the room. It must not have come out the way I had wanted it to but that's why I added that contrast.

Ah, alright.

By the way, not the corkboard is transparent, but the wall it is hanging on. Look above the corkboard, near to the ceiling.

Jan

Water treatment plant looks nice. But man it looks like an AI disaster. I don't think they would have a clue whats going on.
