Hang Glider is a game where you control a (suprise, surprise) hang glider. You fly around the level avoiding birds and other obsticles while you collect the rings. There is a tutorial. Make sure you read the text at the top of the screen in each level!

Here is a screenshot: http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f47/coolgames/geyser.jpg

Here is the download link: http://www.rocketsoft.gm-school.uni.cc/uploads/hangglider.zip

The link is not working again. I would say that geysers could be improved with particles or something. Also a better lightening of the model could be a good idea, so it look more integrated. Place a sun in the sky, for example.

But the most importat thing is how the glide moves thru the air, 100% coding. Not tried it since the link is broken, maybe you should attach it here.

I have fixed the link. I can't use particles for the geysers. I have already tried that. It slows the game down to much.

Not too bad... Suggestions:
1) Get the normals sorted out on the terrain. It looks really poor just being completely lit like that. If its a static terrain, try to get it light mapped.
2) The controls are pretty basic... If its true hang-gliding, make it so you lose speed and the way to get height is to find thermals that you have to circle around in to go up.
3) When you fly into the side, you kind of hover in a physically impossible way. You should either make the terrain endless, have some "story-line-force-field" that stops you going too far or some other way of getting around this.

Apart from that, pretty good, althought its a pretty big game at 11.2Mb for what it is.

Suggestions: Google "7z" and look into compressing it using that. Even with 7z's self-extractor embedded in, I've found its often over twice as good as WinZip (which has had its day I think).

Pretty good, although turning seems a bit weird.

The terrain is a matrix. If I turn down the ambiance, the sky gets all dark. Is there a way to make the sky bright but have lighting in the rest of the level?

Ah no your terms are a little muddled. Setting the normals on the matrix is telling the computer where the shading needs to be for your level...Unfortunately my knowledge of this has compltly slipped out of memory for now...but search the forums or ask these guys and they will be able to help you do it.
Good luck mate sounds very interesting.

Its a great start, I loved the ducks - or red birds whatever
Yeah, the controlling needs some improvements, so that it would be harder and cooler to do some circles. I would like some kind of system that the altitude of gliders drops, and there are "up-winds" to lift you in some places.

Just got an Idea, do some AI, so that birds follow you and go away when you are far enough, that would be realy cool and exiting! (Collect their egs or something so they get mad?)

Anyway, its a great start, remembers me of an old nintendo 64 game where you flought with gliders and small planes, it was cool and Im sure this will be very cool when you get it done. Good luck

great work at first glance everything looks very flat and it just looks very low quality but when u start playing it its really fun (even if it is overly easy lol) some sorta basic ai for the birds like tachyon suggested would be cool cuz right now there more just for show then anything else and its almost impossable to hit them by accident

I just though of a way to expound on Trachyon's idea.

Give points for collecting the rings. Create nest ontop of trees with the eggs being large. As you pick up eggs you get slightly more points for collecting rings but the birds will be more agressive and/or faster so there is more risk in collecting the eggs. You may even have the agressiveness ease over time so that you can collect more eggs. to keep the bonus up.

Just a thought thrown out.

I miss you very much.

I haven't ever been up in a hang glider. I just guessed what it would move like.

To really be able to continue this game, I need some sort of goal that is more interesting then collecting rings. I need some sort of story line. Does anybody have an Idea.

Because it's an active and realistic project which is is gathering direction through idea's and criticisms and already has a working demo unlike other projects on this particular page. That isn.t personal, just that theirs alot of dead projects including mine which died for a reason.

Ps i think the steering is a liitle wierd, im not an expert but i dont think hang gliders xrotate when they return and also their doesnt seem to be any falling the glider an fly to the the top of the level. I also think you could make the level a little bigger. and try an think of a gating method to keep the player from flying to outer limit and keep the rings ina track, maybe add obstackes in the track. Basically you need to make it challeging otherwise no one will want to play it, no offence.

Right now it is just the main game engine. I really need some Idea for a storyline or goal in the game that isn't just, "Collect the rings."

Well focus on getting the steering right first and them think about some sort of physics to make the hang glider harder and more realistic to handle.
