I think that it's crucial for an FPSC game to have at least a "Controls" Button (in the Game Menu) where the player can change the controls like shoot, move, jump, crouch etc. Perhaps it will be good to change all the options too (screen resolution, texture quality...), bit it's not that important.

I don't know about it being integrated into FPSC, but it's possible to write an application to do so. All it would need to do in change some scancode values in the setup.ini file. I would write one, but I won't have my computer for another week or two. (being shipped half way across the globe does take time...)

@Games to live: Can you do that?
I'd appreciate it...And i'd appreciate it if you can write the setup.ini file to work in a ps3/2 format with the option to make the controls work on the ps3/2...

Yeah, this thing its such a basic thing, I opened one thread in the fpsc X10 forum (I didn't notice this thread though) , then they might include this feature in FPSc X10

I can tell you positively that modifying the setup.ini file (a simple, WINDOWS based configuration file) is not gonna get it working on a Playstation 2 or 3. Unless your referring to somethin' else...

@ Airslide:

I was responding to the first post, not the other ones.

Sorry that I haven't check this thread for a while and many thanks for all the posts!
Well, let's say I create a program which changes the setup.ini file (opens the file, writes in and closes it). How do you import this application in the game menu? Basically, you need a button which points to the executable. But how do I tell the FPS game to associate this button with the executable? And how do I import this button in the game menu?
Maybe here: languagebank\english\gamebank\mygame\setuplevel.fpi ?

Is it possible to do that without another executable, but in an FPI script only?

@Games 2 Live, have you programmed anything?

Thanks in advance!

@Ice Cube:

To be totally honest, i completely forgot about this thread. But no, it isn't possible without another executable, because (to the extent of my knoledge) FPI Scripts cannot read/write text files. However, you could program the entire menu in, say, DBP, and have the game execute when the user clicks "Start".

Just my two cents,

Thanks a lot!
Is it possible to program it in C++? I've never used DB Pro. I think it will mess with the FPSC game code, but I am not 100% sure...
Well, if you create something in future I will be happy to buy it.

Btw, does someone know, why the "Controls" button is not included in FPSC games by default?

Thanks a lot
The thing is I've already found what I want and if it doesn't work perfect I have an idea how to program it in C++.

However, if you want to do it, you are welcome! I'll be very happy to see another suggestion.
Ok, so it's up to you. Thanks again!
