This device is way into the future.

Its a computer you wear around your neck like jewellery but more refined and larger.
Instead of the future being wet wired, the option to wear a neck torc is a good way to feel interactive with the computer but also immersed in the real world.

It gets its juice from a station in your house using short range wifi electricity.
It has twin wifi antennas, detachable and upgradable as better networks are made.
Its cpu is detachable and on the back to disperse the heat, however in the future, they are not as hot anymore.

The stereo laser projectors are so powerfull now and refresh is insane that when they cross over each other in space they make a visible screen in thin air.

Control many functions with speech recognition or the motion sensors at the front interact with your movements precisely enough now for very complex hand gestures, as well as type on a invisible keyboard projected from the lasers on a flat surface or in midspace.

Naturally you can program it to do anything a computer can do.
It has built in GPS Explorer, Its a mobile phone with a microphone and vibrate

Its wifi antennas can project its lasered display to close proximity plasma screens and lcds with WIFI-VGA

It monitors your bio rythyms etc and can alert you to changes

It uses massive amounts of ram to hold its system and backs itself up to a hard drive via wireless every set time.

It can run any OS and is first booted and configured from a wireless browser interface administration webpage, or a blue tooth connectivity, or usb etc

I would try and communicate with him if we were both wearing that device.

Indi's looks cool but I think it would just be a fad
And what is your contact thing Sid Sinister? I don't understand. Oooooooooh, I just got it, you mean a contact LENS. I thought you meant contact in the communications way lol
Umm don't think that would work, have you tried to read something that was on your eyeball? it's damn difficult
Nice ideas though

So to sum up, I vote for Indi as it is the more plausable of the two. If I was an intergalactic billionaire I would invest in it.

Your signature has been erased by a mod because it was rubbish.

?

More plausible? Have you heard of nano technology my friend? You can read something that small if it was shown that small, I just enlarged it so everyone could read it. Ever worn VR Glasses? The text is small there too.

Quote: "have you tried to read something that was on your eyeball"

... Have you?

Quote: "thought you meant contact in the communications way"

Lol, actually thats not a bad thing to call it. It keeps you in contact with everything and it's a contact. Nice coincidence

PS: And this isn't a vote on plausibility... just thought you should know...

Lol you know what I just remembered? I think indi is in the middle or near end of a noob slap. I guess that explains why he hasn't posted back in this thread yet. Unless he forgot?

Indi(4 to 2) wins and will be able to pick the next competition within 3 days. (So by Aug. 31 he must choose, otherwise Sid chooses).

Thanks for being good sports. We'll return to our normal 2 week format next week. This competition was just to keep things moving after some confusion last round.

T.T

Ah well, I learned a lot from making that and since then I've learned how to actually put textures on things. Bring on the next one!

Unless Indi emails you what he wants the next compo to be, don't think you'll get a reply given he's been given a nice leave of absence by the moderators
iirc what I was told about it, it's a "until further notice" ban at that.

Well anywho.. I'd like to make a suggestion about the next competition. Not sure how many of you spend time over at Polycount.com but they have some interesting competitions that are made easier by the fact that often you don't really have to do much in terms of concept creativity and relies more on the skill of your modeling and texturing.

So perhaps an idea would be to have the next one as to create a old 2D game character in 3D. Say like, The Doom Marine or Ryu from street fighter... something like that.

Would certainly make it quite an interesting challenge.

I really like the idea Raven. Indi will be gone until the 30th(tomorrow), so that won't really give him much breathing room to make a decision.

If Sid Sinister agrees, does anyone mind if I make an executive decision and use the "3D recreation of 2D character" idea?

Hasn't been done yet, and will let lots of people enter.

Yea I have no problem letting you have the pick. I love that idea actually, sounds like a fun project! It certainlly beats mine by a long shot lol. I was thinking something like 'What what a future mousetrap look like' or something boring like that but I'm all for Raven's idea.

Indi sent me an e-mail earlier today that has what the next competition will be. We'll keep Raven's idea in mind for next week. Maybe if I win one of these we'll use that one.
