Introduction:
It's about a tower known to have a great treasure that many adventurers wants to get it, but none of them succeeded.

Story:
An adventurer tried her luck to get the treasure of the tower, but also failed to do so. Now, she'll take the consequences by passing through all the illusions of the adventurers and escape alive.

Game:
Similar to the previous game, Illusion of the Tower (w/o "s"), it'll feature 3rd-person action by using both keyboard and mouse.

Progress:
So far, no adult content are shown...
But there will be soon, so I added "(18+ only)" in my thread name...

The game still has a very few progress compared to what is planned. She can only run and jump all over the place.
I'm currently experiencing random, and huge decrease of performance and i'm not sure if it's my game, or it's my computer. So any volunteers are welcome to test my WIP.

RapidShare (Mirror)
(Reuploaded w/ fixed bug)
Screenshot:

Video:
Youtube
The game requires 2.0 of both Vertex and Pixel Shaders.
I'm curently getting these FPS while in front of the bloody message:
W/ FX: 70 FPS
W/o FX: 100 FPS

BG Editor (9/22/07)

This is OBVIOUSLY canceled... It's now in my "Unfinished games list"

Enjoy! ^_^

Mike, the game looks great so far. It has a very silent hill feel to it. And the camera angles are done very well. Love the effects

But I realized that the character can move about similar to any 3rd person platform, which Im not sure yet (cause its only a bit of the game) not such a good combo considering the little space there is to jump about, and with the camera going on like that its gonna be hard to control which I realized when moving about in the hallway and jumping around.

Btw, Im getting 33 on my laptop: FPS with FX and without and infront of the blood like in your screen. Where did you get the 100 fps from? And no random change in performance.

I get 14fps w/FX, 14fps w/o (GF6100)
Your screen effect is way to intense, and relies alot on a nasty randomiser that doesn't filter colour properly.

The character is FAR too chibi/hentai style for the world you've put her in too. Either use more of a ProjectIG style for the character or tone down the lass.. even then there is too much detail in the world itself.

Shadows also don't fit well, you seem to have blobs for the models themselves; then the stand dbp shadow shader (which is quite poor) or atleast a similar pure stencil effect with the lightsource then affecting the actual normal/specular mapping going on with a projected touch light.

I mean pick a freaking style.. putting them all together totally ruins it. Despite this being quite technically one of the best use of shaders I've seen yet.

I watched the movie (on a laptop too), it looks pretty cool. It's not really my genre but the old movie look combined with the light is definitely stylish The camera looks like it's gonna cause problems for the player. You should solve that.

Wow, everyone's using laptops these days...

@Raven: That's the issue actually... Since i'm not good at realistic human figures, I decided to make it half chibi half hentai in a rather unusual genre... I decided to gamble on mixing really different kinds into one game: Cute, Horror, Action, and Adult... (Gosh) Wish me luck... >.<
And I used Evolved's Shadow Mapping shader cuz standard dbpro stencil gave me lots of bugs...

Would explain the crappy performance I was getting, his shaders for some reason are always quite sluggish. Sometimes I'll look over them and figure out why.

I'd still seriously recommend getting some ProjectIG source reference, particularly from Blood: The Last Vampire (which is a great movie btw ) but it blends semi-realism with anime in a way that just works to such a great effect.

I mean the world are quite realistic, but the characters are still very anime. They blend because of the lack of detail really.

more references..

it can be done, you just have to think about lighting and materials for the world a bit.

Hmm.. Well, I guess I could simplify the BG like you mentioned... (Similar to Kingdom Hearts, only darker) I'll try it when I get the time...

Well from the shots of Blood, you can see that the realism isn't totally removed to the degree that Kingdom Hearts is.
It keeps the atmosphere through some very good lighting.

An interesting fact is they made all of Bloods backgrounds in Maya using Renderman. Doing something in real-time 3D now, wouldn't be much of a problem really.

If it's just the character modelling you're having difficulty with, then you know you could always ask someone who can do them.
I wouldn't mind working on a horror game akin to Silent Hill.

@Mike: The Camera looks dodgy. And get rid of that sepia you can't see what is happening. But other than that a legend has again shown off beauty all from text.

That is impossible...

No really, this looks totally, and I mean totally stunning. Amazing. The effect is beautiful, the sepia, but you do miss a lot of details. Maybe as powerup or special state or something, bit like bullet-time. Could be very cool. Looks are amazing, controls are rather fluid (although if the character moves far away, it's annoying to point the mouse correctly - I can shine the flashlight backwards through my belly).

Awesome!

I downloaded it, and if I turned the sync rate off I got around 80-100 FPS. This is with the screen effects on. Without them, I get around 110.

When the adult stuff is posted, tell me... but until then

From the video, it looks absolutely stunning. The character, although completely different from the level, seems to fit right in and I've always love lots of detail in rooms (Resident Evil comes to mind when I watch the video).

You need some fog along the floor then the scene will be as moody as it can possibly get, and the cel shading looks awesome. I kinda like the way the realism and cartooniness goes together. Good work on the graphics so far, but too bad the content has to be adult themed. Oh well, whatever floats your boat.

I just don't happen to be as perverted as alot of people I can't say that certain things have never interested me, but lets just say I try to stay away from such things. Morals and all. Shouldn't be a surprise to people, but I guess it is nowadays.

I ain't surprised, and I agree - I'm the same. However, if its in or not, if it adds to the game I won't object. If its just there to have nudity, well, I'd rather skip it. Darn, I agree with Agent Dink... That's worth calling CNN and BBC for.

Nudity is nudity, it's not like some horrible thing that equates to porn and other naughty things.

I assume there is a reason the characters "flash light" is floating around instead of in her hand. And when you say action, do you mean character fighting monsters with weapons(guns, swords, ect) and are there any rpg elements?

The game will not have the horror elements visually anymore... Since many people told me that chibi will never fit in horror environments.
In gameplay however, I promise there will be. It may become something similar to Silent Hill 4, Ico, or Resident Evil 4, but i'll have to think more about it...
So far, I simply made a BG Editor for this game... Here's a vid:
Youtube

Quote: "Nudity is nudity, it's not like some horrible thing that equates to porn and other naughty things."

There might be, but will not be shown in screen. It will let you instead get the idea... Similar to one of the cut-scenes of Haunting Ground, where a man put a stick inside of a girl's you-know-what... Or the unmodded Hot Coffee...
Quote: "I assume there is a reason the characters "flash light" is floating around instead of in her hand."

I removed it. Since the environment won't be dark anymore... ^_^
Quote: "And when you say action, do you mean character fighting monsters with weapons(guns, swords, ect) and are there any rpg elements?"

Swords and magic mainly. I was thinking of a combination of Devil May Cry and Subarashiki.
Quote: "But i would like to know if its going to be multiplayer just a question."

Nope. I don't have much characters to make it one... (I only have 3 or 4)

Just a quick question, What did you use to model the player? (Sorry if it's already been said/asked)

Mike,
It's amazing how you are able to make the media and programming on the go. I always tend to pause any progress on my games as soon as media is required (as I can't model or draw).

Good luck with the project.

Also,
Did you use a shader for the noise effect?
I tried to make a plane with a noise texture, ghost it and position it in front of the camera with random values to simulate noise.
But I lost about 200fps on that.

I allways afraided from a clowns. aww..

@Lukas W: Image added in shader... Then position the u coordinates randomly using a float... color=color+(tex2D(Noise,IN.uv)+float2(random,0));
@vorconan: I posted the shader when it was still in earlier stage. Learning to write Shaders Page 14 But you can look at the one in the demo (Screen.fx), but it's not as complete as the one in the BGEditor video.
