Here is the download for (v1.0.0):

MediaOrg.Zip

Please read the following:

You will need to have first installed FPI EditPad. If you already have done this then you can skip to the 2nd step.

1. Go here to install FPI EditPad. Scroll down to the bottom of the page until you see FPI EditPad. After downloading the zip file, then unzip the file and click on the setup 'exe' file. This includes certain files that are necessary to also run FPSC MediaOrg.

2. Unzip the MediaOrg zip file into a folder of your choice. This will be the parent folder for FPSC MediaOrg. You will notice two other files besides the EXE file for MediaOrg. One is called "SysTray.ocx" and the other is "RegFil32.exe." Click on RegFil32.exe and then point to the "SysTray.ocx" file within the MediaOrg Parent folder by using the Directory List Box. You should then see the ocx file in the second window. Select (highlight) this file and then click on the "Add Selected" button. It should move to the last window which is a list box. Finally click on the "Register" button. This will register the "OCX" file and you may then start the application.

3. If you get any type of error then repeat the two steps above. If you continue to get an error message. Post on this thread or send me an email stating the error message.

----------------------------

The following download is for v1.4.0. This file contains three files. If you have not downloaded the first zip file (v1.0.0) then you will need to do so first.

FPSC MediaOrg v1.4.1 - Three files.

The following download is v1.6.0 EXE file. This zip file contains ONE file. The EXE file. If you have already downloaded the above file that contained v1.4.1 then you just need to download this file. Otherwise, for those who have not downloaded the three files then you need to download the above file. And if you understood that then you deserve an award or something.

1.6.0
Regarding Change Category Maintenance

*A couple of bug fixes
*When just a subcategory is selected and there are objects in the list box then the select buttons will be enabled.
*The ability to choose no category (blank) this way if you choose a category and subcategory you are able to change one of the categories to nothing.
-------------------
*The ability to delete incomplete FPSC models. These are models that either don't have a mesh (.x) or a texture file and therefore is useless.
*The ability edit (view) the FPE file to see where it is pointing to the mesh and/or texture files so you can see if you can find the locations of the files before you delete the model.

1.5.1
*Sorry can't remember what I did. I'm pretty sure I didn't break it though. Oh I think I made it so you can access add cat feature from the segments window. I am certain I fixed a thing or two but not sure what.

1.5.0
*Added the capability of editing category and subcategory names.
*Can now access the add/delete/edit window dialog from the Entity Cat window.
*One or two other visual enhancements. Only can remember one in the model picker.

FPSC MediaOrg EXE v1.6.0 - One EXE file.

The following download is a zip file of the current 3D Media Viewers. I had not started a version number for them so I am assigning the most current viewers v1.0.0.

FPSC MediaOrg Viewers v1.0.0

Copy these files into the parent/root directory of the FPSC MediaOrg Application.

=================================================

When a category is deleted it will release the model associated with that category.

Create the ability to change categories for a model that already has an assigned category.

Previewing Audio files.

Previewing Skies.

Create a customized trigger zone to trigger when a specific entity is thrown, dropped, or taken into it.

Create a separate character entity that has any or all:

1. Choose a different texture
2. Change "blood" decal (including none)
3. Has different default FPI's for startup, Main, or destroy.
4. Change Scale.
5. Change or Include a "Raise Factor."

- Finished but still testing.
- Pending To Do

=================================================

Have you ever wondered what was in your FPSC Library and where all your "Horror" models were?

Because I certainly have, I developed an application that will hopefully help with this dilemma.

This isn't necessarily the perfect solution but I hope to improve upon it as I go along. The following images will show an example of how one can pick a model using this app.

Here we are faced with a blank map. We want some sort of room that would fit in with a "horror" theme. What do we do?

In the following image you see an olive tree branch. We point to it and clic on it.

We now see a pop-up menu.

We select the "Model Picker" option which pops up a selection dialog window.

We then select "horror" as the genre category and then select "Indoor" in the sub-category list.

But wait, we forgot to select "Segments" so we need to do that. There is no image for this. However, the following image shows a display of segments that fit the criteria that we selected.

We double click on the room we want and we will then see this window at the top of our monitor.

This shows us the path where the model is located within the FPSC Library. We simply follow that path until we are able to select the model from the library.

So you have to pretty much sort out your entities into the correct category, or does it somehow do it automatically?

[shameless advertising] If you want to place something directly into a new category from the store, you can use this.[/shameless advertising]

Looks cool! So if I understand this correctly, you add things to a category and it then tells you where it is? That's kinda neat - never thought to do that.

Something like a search should be built into the migration version, what with so many models on offer. The same kind of search that the GCS offers would be nice.

The search keywords ARE downloaded from the TGC Store - I noticed because I had to make my utility specifically copy over the extra file. I imagine they had such a feature in mind, although most models lack adequately descriptive keywords.

Airslide, I've been using your utility for the store purchases. But, I had so many other free models and such that that would not include them. So . . .

The problem is that most models do not have keywords available. Some models do have them in descriptive folders and so when I set up categories I will possibly use those folders.

Having to set up your categories and sub-categories is the drawback, although I will provide the names with the app. However, it doesn't really take very long to categorize the models. If a person doesn't want to do this then the app is not usable for them.

No back button. If you don't like the one you picked out after seeing it in the map, then you will need to go back to the drawing board. The menu is always in the system tray and easily accessible.

I think some of you might think what I am working on now is way cool. I do and I am almost finished with this feature. What is it?

Entitybank - When you right click the mouse while on the image of the model it will show you that model in 3D within a room. You will also be able to move around just like you would in a FPS game. However, there is no collision with the object. Only the four walls have collision working.

@Kurotatsu

No need to apologize. I kinda thought you either missed it or as you said didn't pay attention to who developed it.

@Everybody

If anybody wants to try out the "Model Test" feature, then download v1.1.0. This only works with entities and not segments for now. Also, instead of double clicking the model image, just right click on it.

Please let me know if you run into any issues with this app.

Well, as usual I didn't test far enough. I was taking the texture info directly from the FPE file. That has led to inaccurate file extensions which needs to be exact. TGC uses TGA in their FPE files but they do not have a texture file by that extension. Only the DDS extension. If you get any errors when trying to use the "Model Test" feature then that is more than likely the reason for the error. Especially if you try out one of the stock entities or a model pack entity.

So, that means I need to correct for that.

Addendum #1:

Another issue is that extremely large entities will not work within my room. I'm going to have to create another environment for large outdoor type entities. I will probably have a choice then between an inside or outside environment.

And I thought this was going to be easy.

Within 24 hours I should have a major update with viewing 3D models. There will be a choice between outdoor or indoor viewing. Outdoor would mainly be for large models (buildings, large machinery and such) or anything outdoors. You will be able to rescale a model if you like just to see what it would look like. Or just use the default. I am going to add the capability to raise the model in case it seems to be below the floor or ground. The WW2 skull does that.

I do nothing with lighting nor resolution and therefore models may not look all that great, however this is just to view what the model looks like in general. You would then be responsible for creating better lighting and high resolution.

Fixes and improvement to the 3d Viewing feature has been uploaded and is ready for download.

You can now choose whether to use an indoor or outdoor scene to view your entities. You can either use the default scale of the entity or change it to a different scale to see what it would look like. There maybe an issue with the default scale. If there is no scale parameter in the FPE file then it is supposed to automatically give it a scale of 100. However, that may not always be the case and the scale may end up being zero (0) and therefore the model will not be visible. If you experience that then simply go back and uncheck the default check box and then give the scale a value of 100.

While viewing the model you can move around the area but you can also rotate the model to the left or to the right using the < and > keys (also known as the , or . keys). If you need to move the model up and down then use the PageUp and PageDn keys.

The outdoor scene does not have any collision at all, so you will be able to go through the outside walls as well as everything else. I personally don't have a problem with that so I decided not to include the code to check for collision.

Version 1.2.0 is now released. You can now delete categories and sub-categories. You can also change model (object) categories and sub-categories. Either or both.

I tweaked the 3D viewer to include playing animations and the ability to move the object around. Also, I have included the usable keys at the top of the screen so you don't have to memorize them (that one was mainly for me ).

Up next is Audio. I am thinking about not categorizing the audiobank but listing what is available and then having the capability to preview (play) it. I will start with that and then play around with other possibilities. As soon as I figure out how to include a sky within DBP I will then do the same with skies and therefore create a 3D preview of the sky selected sky.

Any thoughts would be appreciated along these lines. I will do the audio first and might just hold off on completion and go to another aspect of the app. while I think about it.

Addendum:

I decided to put the audiobank and skybank on hold and do the customized trigger zone and characters next.

Audio is finished and ready for testing but I will wait until skybank is done. I have a DBP app to preview the audio. I was going to use VB however, I wasn't able to find a way to play ogg vorbis files.

I don't think I will categorize skies, however, I will have a "sky picker" along with displaying the images on request. I don't think I will create a DBP app to do that. For those wondering I don't have a "nose picker" Beat ya to it xplosys.

Version 1.4.0 is now uploaded and ready for download.

There are three files in this zip pack. Two of them are new.

*Audio Preview.EXE allows you to preview audio files.
*FreeImage.DLL is a library file so that I can show DDS files and do all sorts of image manipulation (such as resizing the image). Both of these are important to this app in order to view and select sky boxes.

The other file is the good ole FPSC MediaOrg.EXE file. All these files must be copied into the FPSC MediaOrg directory.

My next step is to use this app extensively (which I will as I made it for me as well). If there are any bugs, please notify me here and if I find any I will fix and update the EXE file.

Enjoy!

Version 1.4.1 is a bug fix.

Should I create a separate category list for audio? Or just use what is already established for categories?

v1.4.2 has following changes.

*You can now select/deselect all when changing a category.
*I spread out the thumbnail images so that long file names are more visible.
*When you pick a model, the selection windows will not unload so that you can select another model without having to go through the menu process.

==============================

TIP: If you have a lot of models, then it seems to be best to have as many sub-categories as possible. It is frustrating to try and categorize a model when your not sure where to put it. Also, I will make the add categories available from the categorization dialog window. I will also add the ability to edit the category name.

Hey Terry,

Been awhile. I didn't know if you were checking in once in awhile.

Actually this is a subset of FPSC MediaKeeper. Whether I will add on to this I don't know. I lost a lot of the MK code and so that is why it really never got off the ground. I had enough of it left to do this app.

=============================

Version 1.5.0 is available:

*Added the capability of editing category and subcategory names.
*Can now access the add/delete/edit window dialog from the Entity Cat window.
*One or two other visual enhancements. Only can remember one in the model picker.

Hope to get to the Segment Cat Window soon.

Thanks Tanya. Always great to get a thumbs up from you.

I hope it can be useful. It is kind of a pain to have to manually categorize everything but not much one can do about that. I haven't even categorized all of my models yet. I have a level I want to start soon but I want to get everything categorized so I can see if this is even useful. Seems like it should be because I have a hard time finding some models as I have forgotten about them.

Anyway, V1.5.1 is now available and to tell you the truth I can't remember what I added or fixed.

Hi Terry,

been checking all to cool things that people are doing with fpsc. I get an error when replying with the pc I travel with so I can't reply a lot of the time. But, I am lurking in the background.

I am impressed with what people are doing with fpsc especially you, keep it up. Everyone is lucky to get their hands on your apps.

Version 1.6.0 is now available.

I haven't had time to test this any further. But, I'm bumping it up for those who haven't seen this yet. It might be close to stable but whether it is useful or not is still in question. I think it might be. I probably won't use it until I'm finished with the mod.

No matter what settings I click, it always says "There aren't any media found in the database for this selection."

Note that I followed all those instructions on this page.

I will try to do an installer for this. That will make it simpler and possibly take care of both your issues: Aaagreen and Cyclone.

I'm sure the instructions are confusing.

@Aaagreen, Since I haven't looked at this in sometime, it might either be a bug or you don't have the database installed in the correct folder. It should be in the folder named "database" and it should be located as a sub-folder to the program folder. Also, if you overwrote the database with the old one when you made the EXE updates, then that is definitely a problem.

@Cyclone, your issue is basically a problem with not having an OCX file which is already provided by FPI EditPad. That's why I suggested to install the EP. You could search to see if you actually have that OCX and then use the register program I supplied to register that OCX.

@All

I hope to get it wrapped in an installer and perhaps everyone will need to delete the folders and then do the install (setup). This will make sure that all the OCX files are there as well as everything placed correctly. Also, it will be all of the most current files.

Sorry for the inconveniences.

@Aaagreen

BTW, did you first categorize any models before choosing them? You need to have models in the DB before you can choose anything. It doesn't do it automatically. That is probably the biggest check-mark against this app. It does not automatically put the models into the database. You have to do that by assigning a category to the models.

OK. So as I am typing this I think I have a major upgrade for this app. I can automatically put everything within the database (I know how to do that). Then they can be categorized later. I was focused on models being categorized for ease of finding the type we would like. I already have manually categorized about 1/4th of my models.

It will be awhile before I will get back to this, however for any major changes.
