You'v outdone yourself my friend.

Now all we need is the model base

Great work BiggAdd take a break for a while you deserved it.

oh btw, why does it say "Ofensive" on the top of this thread?

did you have to make a new sub directory, #or something# to accomidate the linking?

On the main index, when you see three red exclamation marks on either side of a thread's title it means the thread has been marked as offensive. A lot of the mods find it more useful to use these to highlight important or useful threads as opposed to mark offensive ones, unfortunately, a side-effect is the 'Offensive' listing you see at the top.

Free 3D software

Vue 7 Pioneer - Great for making landscapes, used in the last Indiana Jones movie, Terminator Salvation, Austrailia, etc.

Paid Vue Products

Cornucopia 3D - great resource for free and pay by object/pack for all VUE products

I love the Vue line of products. I've used Maya, 3DS Max and others but no one can compare to the intuitive interface or ease-of-use of their products. Especially for environments and landscapes. I've attached a couple of my landscapes that I made with Vue Esprit so that you can see what I'm talking about

Out of all the books I have ever purchased 3d modelling for games by Andy Gahan has got to be the best out there. It gives clear instructions for modelling games assests including next gen techniques by a guy that has been in the industry for years (games include Motorstorm, WRC Rally etc.....). The author even gives tips on creating a portfolio and what art directors are looking for when interviewing candidates.

ModEdit: Could you provide a link?

Another small little program that is great fro bricks, the program is free and it exports to jpg, As far as using it for commercial products....you'd to e-mail and ask them as it is from an actual brick company and has nothing to do with 3d. But still a great little program

I've tried Crazybump in the past, If I remember correctly, you have to be on the net to even use it.
Plus I have a slight problem with this.......

Quote: "CrazyBump Personal $99 USD ( For non-commercial use )"

To me this is an awful lot to pay for a program and not have any rights to sell a game or model that they are applied to. The pro version which does allow you to sell costs 299. us ..... No thanks

I have other programs that create them for much cheaper,,,

Just to name a couple that can produce normal maps are , Texture maker (under 40 dollars), Gimp2 (with plugin, Free) These both can do a pretty good job for normal maps.

Its already on the list! But I have to say I only recently discovered it myself. If its as good as Vector TUTS, it should prove useful.

Ok I've added your submissions to the list! Also tidied up a few of the longer posts (but its nothing personal)

For the gun nuts out thier,

This site has the perfect solution to you not finding a good reference image.

Meet, Pimp my Gun.

http://pimpmygun.doctornoob.com/

This site offers a flash based application to drap and drop parts from a a wide range of military issue guns. Heres one i created in 5 min flat.

Rolf its a sniper ^_^

Anyway have fun. Its easy to use and offers up a .jpg save of your gun. The two icons at the top of the app, are resize canvas and save image.

I would think that this would be very useful to the likes of Errant and other weapon modelers on the board. Its good to throw together ideas quickly.

Good Hunting,

-Laz
