CoZ: Horror FX Shader

-No more glowing characters-
* Monsters react completely with dynamic and static lights without the unatural bright glow
Current Version:V.1.02
Fixes
*Transparency issues fixed (Thanks to Bond1)
*Shader now handles _S more effectivly (Use a Darker _S map for best results)
* A +1-2fps performance increase compared to 1.01

Im just finishing some optimisation tweaks, then Ill post it up for you guys

Comments welcome in the meantime though

A free Normal-Mapping shader that also reacts to the lights is of course nice to have..

Oh, and Lee has also shown some ways to make a green-glowing "Ghost" shader in an older newsletter, btw.

And great shader man! That was a real pain with FPSC...Never could make a good horror game before...
since the characters always glow.

@Ekipshi: I just tested the shader on doors, and it seems to malfunction on such an object, but if someone would like to tell me what the default shader thats used for doors in FPSC, then I will gladly fix it.

EDIT: Now Fixed the shader to work on doors

The thing about doors is that

Sci-fi Stock uses= bumpent.fx
WW2 Stock has no effect along with Model Pack 3 doors (those tend to be most important for me

EDIT: Oh, cool, saw your Edit
That's good, but does it work on all stock or mp3 doors?

YES! A decent speed and no glowing dynamic entities, that's all I want from FPSC. I just might be forced to fire up FPSC again.

Now.

Download attached

Instructions:
*Make sure all characters that you use this shader on have _N, _S, _D & _D2 Maps

*In regards to doors: This shader works on all WW2 doors providing thet have _N, _S, _D & _D2 Maps, but it wont work the sci-fi or MP3 doors. However, If you create the stated maps for those doors, then your door wont glow. Make sure you enter the correct File paths for the maps in the .fpe file. I am working on a new shader for the doors as we speak. It should be released in a few days.

*Enemies are not completely invisible in pitch black, but they show up so little, you wont notice. Also, I take it you wouldnt have a completely pitch black level anyway.

Useful Tip: If your characters still appear slightly too bright, Lower the saturation of the D2, D and S maps. This can help bring the glow level down futher!

Word of warning: Using my shaders properly requires a fairly advanced knowledge of FPSC. If the shader doesnt work for you, It's you that has made a error. This shader has been tested on several different systems all with different hardware configurations and FPSC versions and works flawlessly. Basicly, If you dont know what I'm talking about, then dont use it.

And lastly....Enjoy!

Current Version: 1.01

They were both using my puppet script.
It's handy for texture catwalks...

Neat looking shader, as usual! Just a few quick questions, does it work with alpha-transparent textures? Like Jon's juggernaut character for X10, with the torn flag-thingy. I'm so good at describing things.

Is there any notable performance hit with multiple characters on screen (other than the ordinary, classic FPSC-drain, of course )?

Just tried this out, looks superb! The characters look so real
As soon as I figure out what half of what all the maps mean , I'll try getting it to work on the sci-fi doors.

EDIT: Wait a second, COZ, the sci-fi doors already have all those maps.. but it doesn't want to work?
Also, I created the necessary maps for a MP3 Door, where do I add in the paths in the FPE file?

Found a bug, CoZ. The character turns almost invisible when you spawn them with a trigger zone. There ae still faint outlines, though.
