I've started work on redoing "he is coming" - Chapter 1 in Project Blue and must admit that the speed is amazing! There will be more to do in this version and the town now actually looks like a town thanks to the release of Model Pack 36.

Old (released) town:

Awesome man, this revised edition is looking wicked cool so far for sure! Perhaps just a few simple overlays, miscellaneous debris like bits of wood or cinder blocks, or even trash bags might help in cluttering up those first two screenies just a smidge; although, of course stay within reason of a good frame rate. Just a thought, keep it up though bud! Looking great!

Cheers

Life would be much easier if I had the source code.

I'll do better than that.

I've created a speed test with 90% of the town done if anyone wants to try it out. Most of the town is blocked off (don't want to spoil the surprise ) but you'll see how the town was put together. There are no enemies for this test as this is just for map size vs. speed.

It's packed with Vishnu Packer and then packed in a .rar format. When running the game press TAB to view the FPS in the top left. Please tell me what FPS you get, I don't want it to get below 35 - 38 fps.

HIC CH1 #2 - speed test 01 - 90MB

Nickydude,

It's looking great! Just needs more trash.
I got pretty much a steady 60FPS all over.

AMD 4200 Dual Core, 2GB RAM, GeForce 8600GT w/512MB.

Yep, the new shots look a lot more natural than the old ones. Not that I didn't like the old version . Can't wait explore those streets and alleys

It crashed my system after the initial game started (started out very slow, with the shotgun being brought up slow as well (bad FR)). I seem to have these issues with games packed with Vishnu for some reason.

Strange you having issue's with the new version of vishnu as its been testing on many system and not one person has had any issues at all.

It's been re-writen from scratch and the old issues have been fixed.

How much harddrive space do you have free ?

I've seen you post before that certain games crash your computer.

I just tried it. I got about 25 through 30 the entire time, but I was running several programs at the same time, so that may have slowed me down. My specs are:

Vista Home Premium x64
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9300 2.50GHz
6.00 Gb of RAM
NVidia Geforece 9800 GT

Wow! Looks really nice! I especially love the night sky in the background with the moon in that one screen shot. Gorgeous, and really sets an atmosphere well! I will download and check the FPS a little later for sure!

Commenting again to report that I had a steady 59-60 frames through the test level. The level design was very nice, it actually felt like a city scene. Only complaint; the much too obvious invisible walls, but I guess you're gonna fix that for release.

All that was blocked so you couldn't see the rest of the town before it's finished but yes, all the invisible walls will be removed.

And the speed was acceptable Keith? Could you tell me what it was?

It's a lorry and it took me quite a while to find it, it's under 'industrial -> Props' in the entity library.

Here's another shot from the game, just to keep it interesting.

I like the speech system, but it would be nicer if the enter was changed to F or E or something. E in occasions, you disable peeking.
