When will there be an update? I Don't want to be annoying but I just want to have a feeling for the schedule as I'm really dependent on the maps and the increased drawing-functions of 4.4.

Cheers,

PureGDK is on hold for the DBP 7.5. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The DBP 7.5 beta has been out for over a month so hopefully not too much longer.

Great work Mistrel really like what has been done

I have just downloaded Pure Basic 4.41 Stable Release and was wondering when you reupdate PureGDK will it be for the Current Stable Version of Pure Basic.

All the Best

The next update for PureGDK will not use static libraries so it will be both backwards and forwards compatible with any version of PureBasic 4.20 and up.

So to answer your question, yes, the next version of PureGDK will support the latest release of PureBasic.

Ok, it's been 3 months and i have not been able to use PureGDK with the newer version of Purebasic. This update you speak of that does not use static library's could have been done by now. Surely it does not require the new version of Darkbasic does it?

Hi Andy UK,

In the meantime, you can do what I am doing.
I have two versions of PB installed, 4.31 for pureGDK and 4.41 for other work.

Just compile this, put the compiled exe in your later version main folder, and use it to start purebasic. It makes all of your settings, etc for this version local.

Use the standard exe to start 4.31 with purebasic, because for some reason, a portable install seems to break puregdk.

Hope this helps.
I of course am also anxious for the new version of pureGDK, mainly for a couple of things which Mistrel has fixed, but using this method, at least you can still use the recent versions of PB while we wait.

regards,
Dave

The delay has been caused by unavoidable real-life complications and couldn't be helped.

I can assure you that development is progressing, whether you see it or not.

If it's any consolation, I've posted a new progress update in the WIP thread:

Well, It do look abandoned, from my user point of view, so I would answer "nah, till some new development shows up"

I've had some recent events that have made it difficult to budget time to complete the new release of PureGDK. Unlike previous releases were iterative this is a complete rewrite and has been a massive undertaking.

I'll be taking some time off soon which will allow me to work on PureGDK exclusively. Once it's complete maintenance will be very simple and releases will be prompt. There's just a lot of supporting code that has to get done before this point is reached.

Please don't get me wrong when I ask you if we're about to see an update again in this lifetime or not? I hope I'm not already the last one here who's interested in. I already got a beard waiting a bloody bunch of months now. I know that you had/have problems but I'm yet starting to feel sorry for my decision of investing my money in your product, and that doesn't mean that it's bad, nah, not at all, but I just can't use it as I'm still having dependencies on some essential features of the newer PB-versions, especially when comes to the performance of 2D-drawing of it.

Hoping that it all will take a good end,

all the best,

Christian.

I'm not sure what you want me to say here. I've made several posts reiterating my commitment to deliver this product.

What I've been working on may seem like a small iteration but I can assure you that I have investment a considerable amount of time and money into this project. PureGDK 2.0 is a reinvented product and required a complete rewrite to support its new features.

I'm just one person trying to juggle this release as best I can. Unlike TGC, I'm not able to work on it full time and the amount of work required has been well beyond what I expected, I admit that.

It's very unfortunate that development has taken much longer than expected but like all growing pains, the path is difficult but the reward will be worth it. And I can assure you, for what it's worth, that I will not be performing another rewrite of this magnitude on PureGDK again.

As I said - don't get me wrong. I just wondered for a long time - and yes of course I read your posts - what we're really headin' to, and further if for real. I've seen so many products dying the last years especially when I invested my hard earned money in and was just ... wondering if that could happen again with PureGDK. Therefore, sorry for my weak trust.

All the best,
Christian.

I'm hesitant to give to give anything too optimistic here. Considering the complexity I've completely missed the mark when I tried to give a date in the past.

To give you a range though.. best case would be the end of the month. Worst case, barring some cataclysmic event, the end of December.

I'm burning rubber as far as daily coding is concerned. So progress is very good.
