[Updated 4 Nov 2011]

Malevolence: The Sword of Ahkranox is a procedurally generated, turn-based first person RPG set in an infinite world with infinite environments, items, weapons, spells, potions, cities, NPCs, quests and even dialogue.
It's being made out of Australia, but involves a team of people from all over the world. Here's a quick gameplay video:

Most of our work lately has been getting dungeons working, but don't be fooled! The game has a literally infinite world filled with forests, plains, mountains and cities. Here are some recent screen-shots.

We keep a regularly updated development blog on BlogSpot, as well as maintain an official Facebook Fan Page and Twitter Feed, which I heartily encourage you to join if you're on those networks, as we keep them regularly updated with info about the game!

We're aiming to release the game around the end of January/early February and launch a demo around the same time

Anyway, I hope you like it! And remember to please join the social networks to follow our development!

Awesome trailer, looks great!

I read through the credits list, and it says TDK_man is a programmer in this project He hasn't been on these forums for at least 6 months, is that where he ended up?

Thanks very much guys! It's fantastic getting such positive attention to the project after working so hard for so long on it!

@TheComet, TDK_man was credited due to some help he gave to a collision coding problem. We'd be very lucky to have such a talented coder on the project full time, but unfortunately he's in the list merely to give credit where credit is due.

Thank you hopefully it will fill the gap in the games industry for the old-style turn-based RPGs like Might and Magic and Eye of the Beholder

Lighting looks great. Are you using Evoloved's Advanced Lighting code? I saw you were using it in your lighting example. Did you solve the problem with multiple lights?

@Stab In the Dark - Yes indeed! Evolve Software's lighting examples proved very useful in the addition of shaders to the game! And yes, thanks to a very helpful Pincho Paxton and Revenant Chaos, I was able to sort out the dilemma with the multiple lights

@kamac - Well spotted! Yes, we haven't yet applied the shaders to the in-game weapons or the outdoor environments yet. The weapons will be shiny with reflective blades, and the outdoor environments will make use of specular bloom and soft shadows with lens flares, etc! A keen eye may notice the use of both BlitzTerrain and DarkClouds in the outdoor environments as well!

@Gibba gobba - 100% correct! This game started with the idea of "what if someone were to combine the game world size and detail of Arena and Daggerfall with the graphic quality of Oblivion, and the game interface of classic Might & Magic and Eye of the Beholder?" The result is what you're seeing here!

To keep as up to date as possible on the game, you guys need to be sure to check out the official development blog (http://swordofahkranox.blogspot.com) and the official facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/malevolencegame)

I've put up some new screenshots now that the game uses HDR bloom lighting! (outdoor environments have yet to receive the bloom treatment, but it's coming!)

... It's getting better and better

I'm unsure why would you like to invest so much in this project without clear answer if you'll get an income .

That's pretty much a waste of money i guess

@Ankh - Thank you for the compliment! No, I'm not Belgian, I'm an Australian But the team is made up of Australians, Americans, New Zealander's, Scots, Irish, French and British people! We're very multi-cultural!

@kamac - Pursuing one's dreams is never a waste! I started making this game because no-one else was making the game that I wanted to play, so I decided to put together a team and make it myself! I'm not actually intending to make money off of this, but if people want to buy it, I'm certainly not going to stop them! Games mean so much to me that I would gladly spend this much time, money and effort if it means playing the game of my dreams

I have the same but with games for android

Quote: "effort if it means playing the game of my dreams "

I have another dreams than an RPG, but everyone has their own

There's much other RPGs, what's(what will be) unique in yours?

I guess auto-generated world is pretty cool.

Procedurally generated world, items, spells, dialogue, etc, in a classic rpg based movement/combat system with modern graphics. (classic turn-based rpg's have been a rarity since the 90s)

Maybe you are right.

For sure it's easier to imagine a cool RPG than a cool (another) FPS

Good luck

Not a problem The amount of bloom used in the game is scaleable by the user I personally love lots of bloom, but some people can't stand it, so I've accommodated for that!
