Hi all. As you know, I modified a year ago, the Landscape Generator code SMAAS so kindly gave to us (Credit: SMAAS), to give it hyperspeed on any crappy PC! I have uploaded the project I have been working on! Everything you need is inside this NEW RAR file! Please note I am smashing ONE more bug that seems to have made the entire landscape black for some reason. But I will upload a NEWER version soon! SO STAY TUNED!

THANK you. that's a START. Now what's going on with this "variable is duplicated" thing? Does that have something to do with a glitch in 7.7? I mean I looked & I looked, and I found NO duplicated variables.

Dude, Aspergers or not, you have to follow the rules. I suspect a thread lock and a noob slap are in your not to distant future.

You've been warned MANY times to stop double, triple, quadruple posting. There are people that visit this site from all over the world, and many of them are ASLEEP. Bumping your thread every 5 minutes isn't going to help, and as you can see it's more likely to get you less help, and irritate several people in the process.

Like I said before. Learn some patience.

I've known these sorts of errors to occur when you use #include as well as having the included source as apart of the project (included via IDE) so try commenting out any #includes (you can always revive them later).

I know you guys have been waiting for it, and I apologize for taking so long, to get you guys the new upload. And I feel bad for not releasing it yet, so here's a status update:

-Fixed duplicated variables problem
-Added my speed fix
-WORKING on compiling my speed code into the level editor as well, but for some reason, there's a function called "ChangeTexture()" in the level editor source code, that is being called, and I have NO idea which plugin it's from, or if it's a plugin at all, perhaps a LIB? If someone could clarify that, that would be GREAT!

Give me another couple hours guys, and I will edit my 1st post and have a download up for you!

So keep checking back to this thread! =D

For a very long time the rule has been, Don't bump your own thread just to keep it at the top. You may bump your own thread IF it has moved on to the second page of the forum.

Your threads have never had the chance to move down more than 10 places.

Unfortunately I don't have the time. It's a huge project with many files that I've looked at a long time ago and set it aside because I didn't have time to pick through the complexity of it.

It's a nice example of what can be done with BlitzTerrain, but for something to create terrains for use in a game it doesn't really give you enough control over the output. There's to many things that need to be "tweaked" to make it suitable for incorporating it into a game.

Ok, this is what I am seeing. I'm not sure what your needing fixed. Also, I see your using the Arrow Keys, you might want to add the ability of the mouse to move your screen as well. Maybe even the standard W,A,S,D keys. Just a thought.

Now the above was your demo. I had to install the msvcp71.DLL into the root of your EXE demo file for it to run that picture above.

Now when I try to compile your program, I am getting all kinds of errors. I did install the Timer.DLL and the BBB. Is there anything else that I need ?

Right now in the Menu.dba file I get this error

If MouseClick() = 1
ChangeTexture(xPos, zPos, currPaint)
Endif

It does not understand the ChangeTexture command.

I was able to compile and run your Blitz program. Texture on your land is black as you mentioned. KISTech and I spoke about it and its possible a shader is out of control here. You might need to double check your shaders. All your textures seem to be called, but one of the shaders is turning it black.

Yes, that's one of the problems I'm having with the level editor. Which REALLY needs to be fixed. What plugin has the ChangeTexture() function?

Also, if you could take a look at the shaders, that would be great, cuz I have to work today. So I will check it when I get home from work!

Ok, well I've created a RAR JUST of the ORIGINAL Map folder before I modified it to work with MY map, so have a look at the source code of the 3 FX files and let me know what you guys think.

I tried out your updated map files and I immediately get and error with the hieghtmap size. So I switched back to your older copy of your RAR above. Now the thing is, I am no shader expert, but the black to me seems to represent a shader issue.

Here is a screenshot. I love the trees and plants by the way.

I believe this is the shader that is giving you problems..

Your LandGen.dba file is what sets that up.

As I mentioned, I do not know much about shaders. I just started using DBP a couple weeks ago. You apparently have been here since 2007. So you know more about shaders then I do.. lol I just know what it looks like only because of past gaming I have done. But as for programming shaders, I do not know anything about it... yet..

SMASS' program worked fine. It was something you did to your copy that changed the terrain. Don't expect him to fix it.

The problem IS with the TerFX shader. I just took it out, and lo and behold, my terrain turned white, with some parts of yellow (awkward o.o).

So it's SMAAS's messup. NOT mine.

EDIT: ALSO, where can I find the ChangeTexture() function, so I can compile the LandScape Level Editor?

Do you see anything that would POSSIBLY make the terrain all black?
