I've been trying to get a continuous ground fog effect over a large area using particles, but the fog seems to come in bursts. Fog starts off great, spreads out as I want but it then starts to dissipate as it spreads until it's almost gone, then a burst of fog begins again.

Here are the properties for the fog:

How can I make continuous fog that only dissipates at the edges of, say, a 10x10 area?

i think the problem is that decals/particles stop working when they are not in direct playersight. i made a field of smokers, but some start and stop in a loop, others dont work anytime, while some of them work continous.

any idea how to fix that? i thought of editing the script with :state:=!always (so setting it always active because you cant do it in the editor-option) or something like that, but didnt have time to test.

High all, i thought i done a tut somewhere about this, but i cant find it on this pc atm, but will find it at some point for all to see,

anyway here is the settings that i think you are looking for.

On my other pc i do have a modyfied decal script, that keeps the decal active at set distances, Example. from within 1 square range to the farthest distance away
, as default the decals disapear when you are 8 squares away.

So when i find the other decal script i will post it here

Extra info from one of my other post's

By changing the value in the scale size and the Scale only X you can make it fit to what size of map you have, well to a certain degree, and so you just add more decals that, i use 6 on a 30 x 30 full size layer with snow falling on a snow scene and it looks like a blizard Well not actual snow fakes as such but the cold mist effect.

Also the Camera Z shift can be changed to suit how closer you want the decal to appear in front of you, Lower the value the closer to the camera and higher make it further away untill it reaches where the decal is placed.

There are many other tweeks that can be done, like making the fog raise above the ground and only on the floor,
to moving the axis away from the camera or keeping it still, having the axis move for forrest enviaments gives a good effect to like the forrest has a changing atmosphere.

I'am not GOD but i can make you see again by taking my fingers out of your eyes and i can make you walk again by taking your beer away, but if you take my beer you will not walk again

play around with the "life increment", william.

its relative to the area used, so the bigger the area, the lower life increment when you wanna get it slow down.

Txs. I tried from 1 to 500, but 1 is still not slow enough.

Just one thing, it uses Smoke1 or a different decal? As I can't find black-smoke on my list of generic->decals...

Anyway, I tried with Smoke1, which is the only "smoke" I got, and it looks weird, so I guess I'm missing something...
