I have recently been developing some post processing shaders that recreate some effects seen in films.
So I decided to release it as a Christmas gift to all of the Forum

I saw that my lens flare video was liked by Rick Vanner and featured on the TGC twitter feed. However, amusingly, they thought that it was made by Bond1 XD . I take that as a massive compliment! Thank you! <3

The pack has 5 effects, Lens Dirt, Lens Flare and anamorphic bloom (horizontal blooming) and anamorphic bloom versions of the ones previously mentioned.

Anyway, here is the download:

ReadMe (Installation, thanks ect.)
Quote: "Here are 5 Post Processing effects that simulate camera effects such as lens flare, lens dirt and
anamorphic blooming (horizontal flaring).
Feel free to use these however you wish.

//Installation-
Place the files in your Post Processing folder (1.19) or in the ps_2_0 folder (1.18 and
1.17).
The multi_1.dds and multi_2.dds are for the lens flare and dirt. The Lens Flare and Dirt
shaders only work if named multi.fx (for some reason that is the only shader that can currently
read those textures.)

//Thanks
Mark 'Bond1' Blosser - for the base shader (post-bloom.fx)
The TGC team - for creating such a great program and implementing post processing to
Fpsc.

//Notes
Currently, the anamorphic bloom has a problem with the horizontal offset (it is too low).
Hopefully this will be fixed.
The Lens Flaring and Dirt only works in 1.19 and over (due to reading the multi_1/2
textures)

Here's another Christmas freebie

I've modded bumpcubereflectalpha, it now uses _R as a specular map, it has half-lambert lighting and illumination by the _R alpha channel.

Great stuff,

Q's
1. how many lights can be used
2. is there any limitation of what colour the lights can be used in a scene
3. how easy is it to change setting to make the lense flare closer to the lens and to change the size

Thanks
Spuds

@Spudnick: it's a fullscreen shader. So you can use however many lights you want.
I'm not sure how to change the distance, once I get my new computer set up I'll try to see what I can do.
To change the size of the lens flare, open the shader in notepad and scroll down to the lines

lower the
Quote: "int width = 256; and int height = 192;"
values.

I hope this helps

All you need too do to increase the intesity of the anamorphic bloom by opening the shader and at the top there should be the line:

Just increase this to make it stronger.

To widen the blur find the line:

Increase the 2.5.

You may also have to edit the line:

And change the 0.025 value if the bloom is too low.

I hope you find this helpful.

I apoligise for the double post, but I'd like to show my latest WIP,

A Chromatic Aberration shader.

It distorts the colours of the bright parts of an image. similar to some low quality cameras.

@Desecrated Studios For one of the lens flare or lens dirt shaders, rename the wanted shader to multi.fx

For the anamorphic bloom, go into scriptbank/posteffects open one of the fpi files in notepad and after setposteffect= put Anamorphic_Bloom

Very nice shaders Only issue is when I use them my FPS drops from 80 to 6-7, and the entity logic bar suddenly explodes into maximum. Is there any way to fix this?

It's probably a problem with the script looping.

This should work.

Thanks, the script worked. These look really nice (reminds me of Battlefield 3). Is it possible to combine one of them, such as the lens dirt shader, with the standard bloom HDR shader that comes with the latest update? I like both so it's hard to choose between them. Also, what settings need to be changed to make the dirt shader more sensitive to light (it's difficult to see unless ambience is at 100 and you're standing directly under a light). Thanks.

@Marc Steene: TO make the shader more sensitive, open it in notepad and lower the bloom threshold.
I'll try merging the normal bloom with the lens dirt with the default bloom.

@Teabone: I don't see any reason for it not to.

got it, used it in WWC, it's GORGEOUS as it is, but I've got some questions about modifying it, and what to do for certain changes, if that's alright with you?

imageflock.com/img/1330180579.jpg[/img]

note the light up close looks great, and distorts beautifully, but the ones further off don't really distort at all, and don't even illuminate all the way. can it be edited, so that all the lights on screen, even the ones further off, fully distort, and distort quite a lot? and if so, will you teach me how?

Thank you very much.

That's because it's a blurrier bloom image.

To sharpen it, just go to this line here

And increase the 'int width' and 'int height' values on this and Blur2Img that is just below it. The stock bloom uses the values 512 and 384.

[edit] I've just read the post on the WWC thread. I'll try to add colour correction to the shader.
