Hi everyone, I know that media is not everyone's strong point, so I decided to make a bunch of free high quality textures to be used in your games. Only thing I ask in return, is my name (Chris Van Wijmeersch) in your game (credits). Thanks.
For now, 8 (tileable) rock textures. A few of them are only tileable horizontally, while the rest is tileable in both directions.
More free textures coming soon.

Here are a few screenies:

Hope you'll like them.

Cheers

You're welcome, Pink Panther.
Working on a few more atm.

Heheh, your forum name reminds me of the good old Pink Panther movies. Loved them.

K, here are five new stone/wall textures, free to use in commercial and non-commercial games. Just give me (Chris Van Wijmeersch) credit, that's it. Thanks.

NOTE: could a Mod please change the title to 'FREE TEXTURES'? I would upload other (non-rock/wall) textures aswell, but the title doesn't fit. Thanks.

Those look brilliant. Thanks.

Are you using photographic source images or purely software generated images such as those from Texture Maker?

You might find it helpful to email a Mod directly with your thread title request as I don't know how many visit this page.

Thanks, GG.

Each texture consists of multiple layers to get the end result. Like, the 'Layered Granite' has more than 30 layers. Some layers are procedural textures, while others are handpainted.
I have plenty of different brushes, and that helps a lot.
Then, once I have something that I like, the texture is made seamless.

Yeah, it looks like it.

Good work, look fine. I have a special request.

Can you make for me a Prison door?

If you can it should be metal and rusty. I would 100% add you in my Credits tab.

Hey FallenStranger, thanks for the comment.
About the request, sure I can.
I do have plenty of other projects going on at the moment (four or five), but one door shouldn't be a problem.
What I do need, is a bit more information about the door. You don't need a model, but a texture that looks like a prison door, correct?
So, like iron bars with open space between them? Or, a closed prison door? Or, a mix?
Give me as much details as you can, and I'll make it.

Cheers

Hey all,

It's been a while since I uploaded some new free textures. Been rather busy with game projects. But, no worries...new textures will follow shortly. Stay tuned.

Hi Slayer

Thanks for the textures. I have started playing with Texture Maker and I am finding it easy to use, but I'm close to end of my evaluation period and it seems that the author no longer supports it.

Can you tell me how long have you been using Texture Maker and whether it has given you hassles?

Thanks

I use it a lot and have used it for a few years now.

I've used it on XP, Vista and W7. The main issue is that on one of the OS there's an occasional glitch where the newly created image is a tiled non-seamless version of the desired image. I haven't narrowed that down to a specific cause yet but it seems to go away after a reboot and only affects one function.

The other issue is that the Help file won't open correctly from within Texture Maker - but they do open directly from Windows so that's not really a problem.

Everything else is fine and works very nicely.

Very cool. High quality textures always makes your project feel far more pro than it would otherwise.

Thanks

Hey elbow,

Glad you like my textures. Makes me wanna create some more.
Been so busy lately (game projects), but I will add a few more shortly.
About Texture Maker, can't say that I've had any problems so far.
And, sorry for the late response.

Hahahhaa, that's a cool quote! Metallica fan, are you? ?

EDIT: A BIG 'Thank you' to the Mod who fixed the title of this thread! THANKS!

Okay everyone, after a long time, here are some new (FREE for non-commercial or commercial use) high quality textures. Two road/asphalt textures, two gravel textures (one with grass, the other without grass), a (dirty) sewerplate texture (which has diffuse, normal AND specular maps ), and also a mud and metalfence texture!!
Here are a few examples. More will follow soon.

As usual, these textures are free. Only thing I ask, is to give me credit in your game(s) for using them (use my maiden name Chris Van Wijmeersch). Thanks!!

Enjoy!

Thanks The Slayer

Much appreciated. I purchased the program and am enjoying it. I have taken many photos of textures over the last year and am playing around with the program. Any tips for a novice?

Glad you like the textures, elbow! And have fun with the program!

Having good textures to combine and manipulate is a good way to get some great results. The best tip I could give you, is play around a lot with different settings, untill you find something you like. Using masks and brushes also helps. Plus, start by creating the 'ground layer' of your final texture, and build up. Like, the 'ground layer', could just be a plain colour, then make a new 'layer' for some dirt or grain to go on top of the ground layer, using a mask, and build up like that.

NOTE: I started a personnal website where I've uploaded a few free textures and animated spritesheets, so don't forget to check it out HERE. More free art will come soon...
