Hello Everybody,

I thought I had shared this before but I guess I never made a thread for it...

What is it?

This tool allows the user to screenshot entities in close detail without the fish-eye effect caused by the default player view.
This tool is very useful for greeting full-body screens of characters and for detail shots of small entities.
I've been using variations on this method for some time now.

How do I use it?

All you do is assign the attached 00_CAMERA "weapon" to the player start marker and then zoom in with right-click as you would a scoped weapon.
For best results, place the subject far away and zoom in using the mouse wheel. Press F12 to capture the screen and save a .bmp to your FPSC root without profile bars or player HUD.

If you hate spending time making a nice model only to have it look like a fun-house mirror when you screenshot it, this is the tool for you!

Example: Player cam on the left, using the camera tool on the right...

To install, simply extract the attached archive into gamecore\guns. You will need to restart FPSC for the new "weapon" to be selectable.

very nice, errant. i always didnt understand why the fpsc stock is scaled down to 80% with humans. i know its a gamedesign-trick to build characters smaller than the player, but in fpsc seems you are the only 2m-guy around while all others are just 1,60m.^^

thanks.

Thanks for downloading, guys. I hope you find it as useful as I have.

In FPSC, this is also compounded by the fact entities like chairs, toilets, counters, etc are loaded in game at 100% scale making NPCs look even smaller. I find that 90% FPE scale puts the AI at reasonable eye-level with the player. That's what I use for most MP53 characters. This example character above is meant to be short but she's as tall as the default WW2 guys

I downloaded. Someday, I hope to do some modeling (no not that kind -- too old for that) and this will come in very handy.

Thanks EAI. Very cool.

Downloaded, tested, and lovin it my friend. Great idea, and by all means, a handy tool to have. Thanks Jake. Have one on me bro.

I love that emo-chick. Is she part of an upcoming release?

I never realized bikini girl had a tattoo and a ponytail. I guess this is useful for me after all.

Funniest thing I've read all day
Yeah, I'm sure it could be useful for things other things like making loadscreens or just checkin' stuff out!

Not too upcoming. I came up with her last year after watching Suckerpunched and a bunch of random anime series. Backburnered for now because I'm too lazy to make all her animations from scratch. The idea was for a small pack of eccentric ladies who would operate as highly aggressive AI companions or boss-difficulty enemies. They would have restricted weapontype choice to keep total anim frames and memory footprint down and have a signature melee weapon as part of the character which they could seamlessly transition between for stylized combat. If v1.20 turns out the way I need it too and I'm able to complete MP53 updates, I'll pick up again on "Errant's Angels"

This is a very neat tool, thanks Errant! To be completely honest, I've somehow been using FPSCreator for nearly 6 years now and have actually never realized the Player view has a fish-eye effect, until I saw this post.

Your camera weapon makes a world of difference now that I'm seeing it though.

Life would be much easier if I had the source code.

Nice. Added to the 3rd-Party Tool list in the Master Sticky.
