ROCKET BIKE WITH A MASSIVE LASER GUN

"fly your rocket bike and shoot as many of the alien scum as possible using your massive laser gun"

erm... ok, that's enough of that, this is a little 2D side scrolling shoot 'em up I've been playing about with for the past couple of weeks.

This was written in Tier 1 V10819 but will compile with V1076, with no media required. There are more notes about the controls etc in the code.

[edit: code tidied up so it now works on V2]

This started off as a test for doing a side scrolling game but morphed into an experiment in touch screen controls, then expanded into detecting different inputs methods inlcuding keyboard and gamepad (very pleased that the virtual joystick commands recognised my unbranded-cheapo gamepad).

I hope you enjoy it. My highest score is something like 1300 points using a gamepad, just over a thousand on a touch screen.

Thats pretty cool, it's a great concept for a game.

One thing I did notice is that I could not use my keyboard when I had my gamepad installed which IMO should not be the case.

Also, this would probably fit better in the showcase board

Thanks for the comments.

You make a good point about the gamepad locking out the keyboard controls. I just used a simple way of preventing the controls from clashing with each other but it's something to think about for other games.

I also don't really consider what I'm doing at the moment as showcase material. I'm just playing around with AGk and posting anything that I think might be fun.

one of these days I'll come up with a better signature
