Hi all,

I'd like you all to vote in some new forum mods. I'm looking for another two or three and I need diversity of timezones here, so no-one in the UK (sorry).

Ideally another Australian mod and a couple spread across the time zones in the US (far west, far east).

Does anyone have any suggestions and/or recommendations?

Cheers,

Rich

For East US, it'd have to be CattleRustler. He gets my vote

Exeat also gets my vote.

I'd have to say Exeat and CattleRustler, they would make great mods.

I'd also say myself, but I can think of a ton of reasons already on why that would be a bad idea.

Cheers,
Preston

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Phaelax lives in the US, he does seem like a good candidate though.

Also, Walaber resides in Japan, so if he's willing he'd probably make a good mod also, especially as he seems to know his 'stuff'.

Oh, and thanks to everyone who thinks I'm worthy!

Perhaps I don't read the right forums,
but I can't actually recall seeing Exeat offering
anyone solutions to their programming problems etc.

Am I wrong?
Coz to me a mod should be able to put together
some help and solutions for n00bs from time to time,
otherwise all they really are, are forum babysitters. Which
is fine if thats all the mod function really is.

I've seen all the others mentioned offer their support
and knowledge to new users. Just not my compatriot Exeat.

I am shocked and appalled at this allegations! Lol, I don't know why you haven't seen any solutions from me, maybe you just haven't realised it was me posting them? Maybe I've been a bit slack over the past couple of weeks because I was doing my mid-year exams (Jess can vouch for that because he's been doing them too lol)? Who knows!

Honestly though, I'm mainly a plugin developer so I'm usually helping out with people who have problems writing DLL's for DBP so my guess would be you're just not looking at those threads. Although, I do answer a lot of DBP questions as well (usually on MSN or IRC) but like I said above, I've just been finishing my exams so I probably haven't helped as much on the forum recently as I had in the past. But school's almost over for me so it's practically free time galore in no more than 2 months, hoorah!

yeh, exeat's a great guy! He helps out all over the place! Anywho, I don't think anyone would mind puttin together "some help and solutions for n00bs from time to time", as long as the questions posed by n00bs haven't been answered before in the forums or dare I say it, in the manual?

actually I just found a response from Exeat in the main DBPro forum timestamped a minute before I made my post. Coincidence? I think.. err mostly likely! lol

In all seriousness I wasn't setting out to 'bag' you (Exeat).
I was more just wondering what it was that people saw in you by offering their support (since I knew it wasn't really based on helping n00bs)..
Of course being the coolest cat on the block, doesn't mean it should be automatic moderatorship..

@eat much pie
Solutions in the manual? Thats a joke right.
The manual is fine at listing out the commands but at actually
showing anything moderately useful about the commands. Well, I'll give you the chance to look at it again and see what I mean.

Anyway I digress.
Let the voting continue....

My 2 cents:

Well. I vote walaber. All the posts I´ve seen of his in WIP threads are helpful and suportive. I´ve also seen him help out alot in the DBP threads and he´s converted Newton over to DBPro. Also he´s in Japan and we haven´t got a mod in Japan!

Edit: CR, Phaelax and Exeat would also make good mods.

I vote for Walaber and Exeat.

Rich, if you ever decide to add any more UK-based mods, I vote for Philip (that would make our first-non human mod ) and VanB.

Whilst on this subject, can you add a "Report to Moderator" button on posts, hopefully that will avoid the need to have lots of threads in the General forum complaining about user X or Y.

... er ... suddenly I see my name appearing as a possible mod.

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys. I'm really flattered. However, quite apart from being disqualified because I'm in the UK, I don't think I'd make a good mod because:

1. whilst I read the forums a lot and do post quite a bit and have never said anything nasty to anyone (my proud boast - LOL!) I don't have much time to answer noob questions. Thats why you only tend to see me answering Qs about vector maths and the like where because of the subject matter theres less of us who can help. The level of support offered by TCA, IanM, RobK, Jess, Indi and RPGamer is much greater;
2. I'm a bear;
3. I'm a bear; and, not forgetting
4. I'm a bear.

Cheers

Actually I was going to nominate Mouse and Walaber (and I too am surprised to be the first one to vote for you!) Mouse seems to be pretty intelligent, more than enough for the coding boards, plus he's a smart debater for the General board

Those two get my vote.

yes, and JokerZ, I was merely pointing out that the dates are very new (today in the other case) and I wouldnt put it past certain ejected spammers and wanna be haxorz to simply voice anti cattle rhetoric, to cast me in a bad light - not to mention I never have seen you post here before. Get it?
