Hi,

After some discussion the mods have reached an agreement on an acceptable signature size.

We think 600 pixels by 120 pixels is a reasonable size to play with - so if any of you have sigs that are much bigger than that it'd be a big help if you could resize them.

Thanks

Sigs are a useful way to identify yourself, and most people do not mind seeing them. It is unfair that they then have to see huge sig images.

Mine is taller than 120 but I can't shorten it as it looks like crap. This one was made for me and is only 20.7kb in size. I don't see anything wrong with it. Size is 386 x 207.

[edit] Lets say if I shorten it to 120 then add all the typing above it that is on the sig It will still be the same size or taller even. So what is the point really.

Screen size isn't the only thing - large file sizes also need to be considered.

And that brings me onto ...

@Ilya, Please reduce the size of your sig - 155k is too much. 60k and under is acceptable.

People of the forum, pick up your weapons and revolt against the harshness of the mods!

*gets dragged away and executed by the mod squad*

Seriously though, I think its a good set of rules, for people like myself on lowly 56k it takes ages for pages to load when sigs are turned on, and in my college, the resolution is locked to 800x600, so big sigs are a pain.

RougeCat - yours is fine.

Lost In Thought - You can shorten your sig. You can make it another 200 or so pixels wider. Just stick the text on the right hand side of the image.

Like this - only 110 pixels high and 6KB smaller.

:/

I just couldn't evision too much chat about sig sizes - the most I thought we were likely to get were people testing sigs and people complaining about the rules

Thx RobK I didn't make mine and I can't make the text on the tag readable when I shorten it. Thats why I hadn't done so. The one you made is better but still blurry. I'll keep playing with it. I may have to get someone to make me a new one. I wouldn't have posted but I'm just upset right now with everything else not working.

Just to add - we won't ban people for the size of their signature images! The other mods didn't know I could do this, but I can blank your signature (or leave some sarcastic comment in there) and then lock your ability to change it, which is what I would do rather than have you banned. Anyone really offended by the images should turn them off anyway (I do!).

Cheers,

Mine is 286x154
It is around 30 over the max... But common! It's only 8k!

May I keep it? Or must I cut some things off....

But I thought cats can go free. Newbie's sig image is far too cute! 30 pixels doesnt make much difference. That sig image is neways quite small.

Mike,
Sorry, gonna have to disagree with you there.

Brogo,
You need to reduce the height of your sig image please
If we allow you to keep yours only 30px's over the agree'd limit, then other people will ask why they can't have their's over the limit too. It's the snowball effect.

Thanks

Jess.

If anyone with a sig too large needs it resized, ask nicely and a mod will probably help you out like MikeS did .
