Update 2:

As thread deletion has already started (normally without even reading the contents), it's unfair to make any exceptions and alter topic titles - even if you genuinely did just forget to add the DB version on the topic line. So, if your thread is deleted for this reason, just repost it.

Update 1:

One month has passed since the amendment to this post below and posts are still appearing without [DBC] or [DBP] in the topic. As of now, further posts will be deleted or locked depending on the decision of the mod.

Having spent a good length of time going through many posts and adding [DBC] and [DBP] to the subject lines, I have to say that it's not something mods should be expected to do for too much longer.

All that is being asked of you all is that snippets on the Code Snippets board say on the subject line whether the snippet works in DB Pro or Classic.

Some posters already do - and thanks for that - but many don't.

A simple [DBC] or [DBP] at the start of the topic line would save a lot of time for users who don't use the version of DB you do. This applies to DBC snippets that won't work in DBP as well as DBP snippets that don't work in DBC.

Since editing many of the posts, new ones have appeared and despite this sticky being here since October 2005 the posters have not bothered to do this one simple thing. It can only be assumed that the culprits 'can't be bothered'.

You leave us little option but to lock any further threads which do not afford this small courtesy. It only takes a few seconds to add what is required.

Seems fair enough request to me... I'm slapping some glue around the edges of this, and putting it up on the trophy shelf with a nice little arrow over its folder

Perhaps this board could be made like Programming Talk - the language is specified by a drop down box: DBpro, DBC, both.

yeah, even though the stickies are always ontop they still never get noticed.. i suppose people eventually forget to look, yeah, I think it should have an [important] tag on it, or even a star

Can mods edit post topics?

Either that or a 24hr newbie slap. Lol!

The problem is that some (not all) DBPro users look down on DBC users and simply do it to annoy.

Crikey - all that's being asked is that posters put 3 letters at the end of the post topic - DBP or DBC so we know which version of DB the code is intended to be run in!

This also applies equally to DBC users as some code written in Classic won't run in DBP which can be just as annoying to Pro users.

Unfortunatly, we cannot edit the titles of posts.

I'd say that with the new forum ( although it wont be here till 2006 I beleive ), Rich'll impliment something like in Programming Talk.

Until then, it's just a matter of trial and error. ( and continually whinning at the author untill they edit their initial post to say 'DBP' or 'DBC' etc ).

Jess.
