Just thought I'd post this since not too much seems to be going on scriptwise.

I've been teaching myself how to script and I did this as a learning exercise.

Basically you put this script in the "appear" section of the entity A.I. sripts. What it does is make the entity invisible unless you or an enemy is within a certain distance.

You can probably replace the "anywithin" and "anyfurther" condition with "plrdistwithin" and "plrdistfurhter" if you don't want enemies to affect the transparency.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work on entities with the "bumpent.fx" effect, so you'll have to delete it.

I was originally trying to make a primitive LOD technique, but it doesn't seem to affect the framerate (in a good way).

However, it could be good for generating cool effects, cloaked aliens and the like.

I haven't tested it much so if you get weirdness don't be surprised.
