Alright, I'm going to model a suped-up BlockMan. I may even think of his final name, as the story of BlockVerse2 has him get a real name. I've drawn some concept are for him already, and I must say I think this new model of him is going to look awesome.

But could you make the contest 15 days or something? Modeling people much less a hero is a leanthy process for most. I'm pretty sure most here will want time to make their Hero stand out.

Heres my WIP, as you can see there is no body yet, only armor. A weird way to start but for some reason it seemed easier this way to me.

Alright, I've finished modeling the new BlockMans head-

It's 325 faces so far. This is going to take a while... I want to get it perfect.

Edit: actualy, I think I need to make the hat lower...

Edit: Alright, NOW I've finished the head. I wont post a pic though, as I still only have the head. The rest of the body should be much easier.

Those models look nice guys. Ooga Booga, it would look awsome if you added gold edges or fancy lines/art to the textures.

I'm gonna make sure to vote in this contest!

@ danielp: Ooh that would be cool!

@greenlig: Thanks, yours is looking quite nice as well. And yes i don't really like organic, this is probably the most success ive had w/ it. And that is most likely because I did a lot of armor and stuff which isn't very organic.

Its May 1st now! I stayed up much longer than i had planned, im gonna be dead in school..today (i wanna say tomorrow but its today technically).

Bizar Guy;
Are black outline lines part of 3D Canvas? or is it a plugin or something?

And is it possible to export the model with the black outlines or would that have to be programmed in a games engine?

woah a 2 mb image....niiiiice...

Okay, not a bad start. Very cartoony. Maybe a little more 'hero' in him/her rather than just 'protagonist'?

Just realised this isnt a c&c thread, my bad.

Musashi Im modelling a "hero" character for one of my games, but I started after this competition had been set in place, so would it be allowed to be entered into the compeition? (Even though its pointless since greenlig owns this competition ) It wasnt originally modelled for the competition but then again it isnt finished and like I said, started after this competition began.

<EDIT>

Just noticed this rule;

Quote: "
You must make your entry specically for the contest (Doing otherwise is counted as cheating)
Cheating will not be tolerated, those who cheat will be disqualified from the contest, and possibly further contests depending on my own judgement
"

Still however unclear as to weather my model would fit into this rule or not.

The outline is part of the model itself, and works in dbc (just see BlockVerse...). What it basically is, is a copy of the object, slightly larger than the original which I put in the same place. I then paint it black and invert it (or scale it in negatives if you have no invert button). It doubles the number of polygons, but gives and outline that's part of the model.

That rule means it can't be a model that you've already made. I plan to use my model for a game later, but I didn't design or begin modeling it until after the anouncement of the contest, so I'm quite certain I'm alright.

Edit: sorry for the double post.

I've let 'to be' game made material in before, don't see why I won't do it again, the 'made for this contest' rule is to make it fairer because some people could be at a vantage point if they haven't done it in the duration of the time.

Some interesting stuff coming along guys

[edit] Just looked at the previous page

@Ooga that is looking nice, some what Metriod like

@Bizar Guy, nice, a hero from a game I love, as I recall (from the levels I played) he didn't have a weapon, would be odd seeing him with one, unless he squashes his enemies with blocks

@Greenlig, thats looking great, your texturing certainly augments the quality

Heh, I think I've though up a good weapon for him Musashi, although it's more of a story device in BlockVerse2 than a weapon. Well just have to wiat and see how it turns out. I may end up having him just show up with a Block in some cool pose.

Here's a new progress shot; the head has been edited and I think is almost identicle to my consept sketches now. There's still no texture, so don't think his pants will be that high.

It's 403 faces so far.
