I just migrated to windows vista, and I'm using the latest official nVidia drivers (6000 series).

I have noticed this,

System resolution is set to 1280x1024 and the game executes "set display" to 1024x768.

The result is the screen output is "pixel resized" (ugly, blocky) to match the higher resolution.

The expected result was that the system resolution would resize to 1024x768 while the fullscreen game ran.

---2---

System resolution is set to 800x600 and the game executes "set display" to 1024x768.

The result is the screen output is again "pixel resized" (ugly, blocky) to match the lower resolution.

Again the screen resolution does not actually change.

----3----

System resolution is 1024x768 and game sets display to 1024x768.

Everything looks perfect. No blockyness or odd graphical sizing errors.

I am NOT talking about sprites or bitmaps not resizing automatically.

I am talking about the display of 3D objects.

Apparently NVidia's drivers for Vista are ... well, crap to be blunt about it. Maybe something to do with that?

Oh yeah... superbly crap.

I can't tell how bad of a performance drop vista creates (assume theres a drop) because I burnt my PCI-E Motherboard out while installing Vista.

It didn't like 2 ram chips because of a hardware defect.

I had to downgrade from GF6800 pci-e to GF6200 agp until a replacement arrives.

When alls said and done I'll post some observations.

Ok I am now (again) using a 6800 XT, just upgraded from 6200 (again).

There is no performance gain!
None!

30Fps vs 30Fps

Same level in my progect.

That's outrageous... Running Vista home premium with latest release 100 nVidia Drivers.
