the official 3d physics demos were deleted... can someone re-upload, please?

Oh dear - im sure there is a plausible reason why Stab In The Dark chose to go that way - maybe do what is asked on that thread thus contact TGC for demos

(kinda a slow response and activity due to circumstances, but couldn't resist)

I had downloaded and still got Stab's 3d physics code examples, including the ragdoll controller plus a cool vehicle physics demo exe (no code for that one as not implemented yet in AGK), but as they have been pulled from the site, I do not know if he would mind for us to share any of those.

I greatly respect his skill and what he created, therefore I'm reluctant to do so without his explicit consent.

Still think it's a mistake of TGC to not have collaborated further with him as this is a very good feature to have in AppGameKit and they either do not posses enough knowledge to implement it themselves or do not care/see the need to do it. I personally think any feature that could lure more people into AppGameKit and away from Unity or any other competition would be great for the package and company as a whole.

Of course it's fair to say we do not know all the ins a outs of this. Perhaps he was asking too high a price for his contributions, or there were creative differences, ego's/personalities clashing?
We'll probably never know, but I sure hope they would come to terms about it or if not, that TGC themselves can dive in and pick up where they left off and fully implement the Bullet Collision Detection & Physics Library to complete this.

Just imagine how much more easy it would be to create 3d games such as accurate spaceship/rocket launch & landers a la SpaceX's or car/boat racing sims.
And the demos of such games would also be showcasing AGK's capabilities and be good advertisement, which is crucial to generate cash imho.

To me it's pretty simple: AppGameKit has it's own public, fans, advantages and charm(and certainly my preference), but if you want to be serious competition then if Unity has it? Put it in. It's the only way to survive in the long run.

Perhaps Preben and/or RickV ?

i assumed "official" meant TGC "owned" them; apparently, that's not the consensus.

will a mod please lock where this thread was intended to be request which apparently cannot be honored.

thanks, anyway

I don't know about the advanced Physics Demo's of Stab on the forum, but the other ones aren't they still included in the AppGameKit distro?
Or have they been removed also?

( I mean the ones living in: C:\Program Files (x86)\The Game Creators\AGK2\Projects\Physics and Physics3D )

@Rick,

As far as I'm aware, AppGameKit has only ever included a single 3D physics demo. That "Simple Demo" is just a few lines of uncommented code that simply constructs one falling cube. Nothing is included by AppGameKit to illustrate 99% of the available 3D physics commands and Stab's examples were much more thorough and illustrative of its potential.

I agree with you that the dispute between TGC and Stab away negatively affected the entire community. Unfortunately the existing 3D physics implementation of AppGameKit lacks many of the features taken for granted by other engines and makes it less inviting to develop 3D using AGK. AppGameKit could really be a fantastic development framework and is still my preferred choice among the various engines out there, but it seems too often its feature sets are only ever partially implemented.

I give my permission to share any of the demos or code snippets I have ever posted on the forums.

Hopefully I do not get banned again for posting this but I will try to explain.

I originally posted the 3D physics demos as official so users would understand that they were created by
the coder who actually implemented the physics and could possibly trust them.

I deleted the attachment from that post as I was no longer going to support the demos by keeping them
up to date with the current versions of AGK. Also I was no longer hanging around the forums to help
users understand the 3D Physics by answering questions about the demos. Since I am unaware of any changes
made to the 3D Physics AppGameKit source I could not afford to spend time debugging the demos with every update to
AGK.

I had given the game creators more than enough time to copy the demos and include them in the AppGameKit updates.
It is their product they should support it.

To clarify there was no dispute between me and the game creators it was a simple business decision.
I needed to be paid for my work and they were not willing to pay for what ever reasons they had.

P.S. the game creators were supplied with both Tier1 and Tier2 demos of the 3D physics and they do own the
rights to them.

The coffee is lovely dark and deep,and I have code to write before I sleep.

So a copyright complication - like Bullet 2D by Erwin Coumans

//Bullet Continuous Collision Detection and Physics Library
//Copyright (c) 2003-2006 Erwin Coumans http://continuousphysics.com/Bullet/

We can all forget about copyright stuff when enjoying creations

@Stab
Many thanks for clearing that up.
Will add a rar attachment so peeps can easily download(not now), but would be better indeed if AppGameKit included them to the examples, especially if you stated you don't mind.

@RickV
Perhaps you can add this to the official release? Or doesn't this suit TGC's plans for AppGameKit?

I'm no expert on that, and not familiar with the ZLib license, but doesn't that mean it's ok to use the source in their original form in any way (reason also why incorporated in so many other languages/applications - I think Unity and Boston Dynamics also make use of it)?
However a wrapper created by someone might have other conditions altogether as it's a new piece of software, similar as creating a boat with a hamer that's free to use by a community, but the end result -the boat- is ok to sell. Or am I way off here?

Ok, added rar file download link below, which contains the demos that were on this site before, as stated I would do before, with Stabs permission.
(didn't have time-at the time

However: I do recommend to use Google Chrome for downloading as MediaFire apparently now has the tendency to show nasty popups, which IE can't tackle very well(you have been warned).
If someone has another solution to permanently host the files, be my guest, but would be better if TGC would add them to the official physics code examples that come with AppGameKit themselves though as people can really benefit from these.

Hi Everyone,
I have downloaded the 3D Physics demos. (Thanks Rick )
So, am I right to assume that a DLL is not needed (that includes the car/lander demo exe), and that everything can be programmed with the existing 3d commands of AppGameKit?

Yes all of the demos work without plug ins you may find some examples might have incorrect syntax ie pointlights have changed

Your welcome.

My pleasure.

The car/lander demo exe doesn't require a DLL afaik, but no sources are available because AppGameKit team and Stab couldn't reach an agreement on it.
So that part of the physics hasn't been implemented in the AppGameKit physics engine(yet), which is a real pity for could definitely open up a whole new range of game type and possibilities, such as realistically behaving car/boat racing sims and space rocket lander games. Or even robot sims, as I understand Boston Dynamics uses the same library to test their stuff.

*Hope someone at AppGameKit team notices that the whole physics features thing generates some genuine interest (there's an actual market share to explore) and so give some well deserved attention to:
-add the existing coding examples I've added to the RAR file to the official physics examples in the next release or so.
-complete it's features with vehicle physics.(would this require a rewrite?)

Might be just what AppGameKit needs.
I expect to use it in near future, even though haven't been round much to code due to unfortunate circumstances.

Even though it doesn't use physics i think your open world demo would be very appropriate in that package rick

@blink0k

Hehehe, well it's unfinished and unfortunately hasn't been updated for a quite a while due to my physical condition and other circumstances, but downloadable still at:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/m7mxy23b6sj8f23/U3D13P_FW+V6.8.rar

(same precaution as to the other download applies: use Google Chrome for downloading as MediaFire apparently now has the tendency to show nasty popups, which IE can't tackle very well)
