I've been messing around with FPSC for about 6 months now, making small test levels and stuff. Now I've finally started making a full game.

Riga Mortis: Fall of mankind

Based on the upcoming finnish indie horror film Riga mortis, the game takes place in the rather grim future. On the last days of mankind's war against the living dead, the large nations use their last straw: launchin their nuclear arsenal. Things didn't go quite as planned though. As it turns out, unlike humans, zombies are immune to radiation. The remaining humans are quickly wiped out by radiation and diseases as the earth fades into a nuclear winter.

You wake up in a military bunker. The world as you know it is gone. The last thing to do: find the source of the zombie plague. A journey through the wartorn wasteland may begin.

The finished game will feature FMV sequences, some from the movie and some made specifically for the game. The game also features a soundtrack by the director/composer of Riga Mortis, Artturi Rosten.

The game contains a lot of user-made objects, and it will be a free download as soon as it's finished.

And then some screens:

We've seen the world burn! We've seen the sun eclipse from the smoke of the burning dead!

Thanks for the comments

The movie itself is still unfinished. I think the announced release date for the movie is at summer/fall of 2007.

Kudos to you for the concept. The screenshots do look very good.

One thing that should be mentioned, in the sincerest form of positive critique, and for continuity:

Quote: "The remaining humans are quickly wiped out by radiation and diseases as the earth fades into a nuclear winter."

The exterior screenshots are technically nice, but that clear night sky with the stars, or that big beautiful full moon, wouldn't be visible if the earth was plunged into a nuclear winter.

The thing that causes the nuclear winter in the first place are the massive clouds that billow up and block out the sun.
There also doesn't seem to be any trace of the cold winter-like conditions, that would be present if the warmth of the sun was blocked for a prolonged period.

I'd add custom skyboxes, and a variant of a winterscape, to visually support the storyline.

I look forward to seeing more of this game. Riga Mortis sounds like it will really be a well crafted effort.

The best of luck to you, in this endeavor.

Thanks,

Seth Black

Thanks for your comment
You made a good point.
Being an apocalypse/atomic war buff I'm aware of the effects of nuclear winter. I've been a bit unsure about leaving the moon and stars-skyline, and maybe it's best to put a more nuclear winter-like skybox to exterior levels. I'll work on that.

Seth, I have to disagree with you about making winterlike landscapes. In a nuclear winter, I doubt there would be much snow on the ground, ice maybe, but mostly there would be tar and ash etc, making the ground pretty much grey/black.
