I've done the Military one, pretty hilarious, there was another that was 'Weapons of Mass Destruction could not be found', in the IE 'page cannot be displayed format'. And there was one normal google search that was something like failure or something that came up with Bushes biography.

There are two I've foolishly searched in images, as I was told to, like Citreon Logo and Ubuntu logo...but I would do it if you are of an immature age, as I'm no pervert with higher values, I didn't particularly want to see it.

Google is the searcher or all weird and wonderful things.

If you have too much free time, google this:

I've never seen anyone with this, mostly parking lots and warehouses.

Ahaha yes, all those French massacres are really funny. While we are at it why don't we joke about the twin towers incident?

I don't get it, how are these things a joke? Does the person who wrote that page have no respect for others? Perhaps he comes from a country where its inhabitants are rather ignorant of other countries.

I must say thats not very fair to the french users of the forum if its display french massacres.
Having tried the button with the text, I find that in poor taste.
on the flipside i get country clubs when looking for ohio mensa clubs.

I think you should remove the first one perhaps phaelax

Well the joke was the suggestion that google makes in response to the search, which in no way states anything about French massacres unless you click on to view the suggested alternative.

The page is stating historical facts as far as I'm aware of, though they could've been written a little more elegantly.

As long as it doesnt affect racial stuff, Im happy to poke fun at anyone, but if it ruffles too many feathers we will have to amend it.

Aussies are the first to poke fun at themselves so I can understand if its not super offensive, but yeah our french friends can be passionate about matters.

I don't see how this is offensive in and of itself...

I guess it might hit a nerve if you're French, but I guess lightening up would help. I mean, Napoleon's military was pretty badass for a while, if I'm not mistaken.

Something interresting is that 'french military victories' joke doesn't works with French Google (I get 'standart' results)!

[edit] No it works! It was because I used Firefox/Google start webpage, so there was no 'lucky' button...

The first two aren't put in by Google, people just abused the ranking system by getting people to click a link millions of times.

It's like how they got Bush's biography to be the #1 result for "Miserable failure".

Although, it's since been taken over by people talking about that attack, and Google amended their algorithm anyway:

Hey, I wonder where the buttons Google-bombed equivalents for "Twin Towers" and "War in Iraq" are? I mean, it's OK to take the piss out of the French, so the least they could do is take the piss out of the Americans? Oh wait... they don't. I wonder why.

The French get a lot of crap thrown up constantly in their faces, again and again. I mean, I know their military isn't exactly sparkling, but why hasn't this thread been locked? I mean, if I started up a thread saying "Ooh funny Twin Towers thing on Google" or "Horrible causalities in Iraq" it'd surely be locked instantly.

But if we're taking the piss out of French people that's magically OK... Strange. As long as they're taking the piss out of someone, they don't care. But as soon as they're picked on, they get hyper-defensive.

[EDIT]:

Convenient how they miss out the involvement of the US post-1954 there isn't it?

That's the one I meant in my post.

I always thought the French Military thing is just facetiousness on behalf of the silly rivalry between the French and English as depicted in Monty Python's holy grail, I think people are just looking into it too much.

If I saw something similar insulting the English, I would find it funny, well depending on if the actual joke is funny. Unless I've missed something truly offensive in that google thing.

What's the big deal? I don't see anything in the original post about "French massacres that are funny", so lighten up. Maybe I misread it? All I see is the French military victories on google presents you with 0 results. Some of you are way too sensitive.

What are you talking about? You posted this:

Quote: "Ahaha yes, all those French massacres are really funny. While we are at it why don't we joke about the twin towers incident?"

I've reread the thread 3 times, so either you're being too sensitive (as massacre was not mentioned at all) or somebody edited their post perhaps?

EDIT:

Okay, I saw your post that you submitted further down the page. How do you expect people to understand what you're on about unless you're being clear in the first place

And myself, I was fooled by the albinoblacksheep site--- probably many others as well. Oh well.

I assumed people would realise that Google has nothing to do with any past massacres.

Just the way it's written. It's not simply about all the wars that France has lost.

I realised massacres hadn't anything to do with massacres, which is why and probably others were so confused, I thought I had either missed something (clearly I did) or you were being strange. I suppose it wasn't made clear, even when understanding that there was no connection with google except France.

But no harm done, I haven't looked at the albino black sheep stuff, but websites like can have offensive material, heck it's all over the net, people do find things like that funny, either because they're not seeing it as massacres, are stupid or are just plain [b-word]s, unfortunately, there are a lot that all over the world, just look at comments you see left on you tube (Like that one posted here recently that some of us, included you found disgusting) and various other websites, no point letting it get to you, because you are only letting yourself become annoyed, and unless you actually do something about it, it's not worth letting it wind you up. Which is one reason why I don't look at certain websites or youtube videos, because they'll only boil me up and do no good.

You're missing the point. Most would go to that page, assume it's just a Google page, and browse somewhere else. They won't click around. You're obviously arguing for the sake of it.

Well that's a sudden change of tune, eh? This sentence is also somewhat ironic, as I'd view it as close-minded to view others as close-minded automatically simply because they are defending a country, which makes you the close-minded one.

It's not like that, it's like joking about Operation Iraqi Freedom, which people do all the time. War's are different than massacres and even massacres are different than terrorist attacks. EDIT: And if I remember correctly a moderator (CattleRustler?) had a link to something making fun of 9/11 in his sig anyways.

Quote: "But if we're taking the piss out of French people that's magically OK... Strange. As long as they're taking the piss out of someone, they don't care. But as soon as they're picked on, they get hyper-defensive."

I think you are overreacting . Every country makes fun of others (America seems to take the brunt of it), it's a JOKE. Same as people joke about George Bush or Operation Iraqi Freedom or the War on Terror. The US takes this kind of stuff all the time, but as soon as it's another country...

Quote: "What's the big deal? I don't see anything in the original post about "French massacres that are funny", so lighten up. "

I agree, just because you clicked on a link from the page they posted, that wasn't what they were talking about. That's like giving someone a game site and it has an add for a racist site so you get mad at them .

Actually, to be honest, I couldn't give two craps what anyone says about me, either. I mean, EVERY country has a bloody history, and what's with all this tip-toeing and pussyfooting around issues? If somebody has posted a link to a blatantly racist page, then I'll react. I (admittedly skimmed) the page, and saw nothing but a list of wars France has lost. Boo-hoo. France has had a lot of crap dealt to it recently by western governments, but that doesn't mean we can't joke around. I mean *really*.

Don't get me started on that. I can be patriotic and I can take heat. If my country has some unfortunate history, I'm not going to write it out of the history books. That's loonie.

Conspiracy theory != Making fun of.

Heh, it's actually the complete opposite I think you'll find. As soon as the twin towers pop up anywhere, the argument either gets locked or people get very vocal about it.

And by the way, I found 9/11 amazingly hilarious. But don't worry, because it's a joke, and it's a war in the past, so for some reason nobody cares.

EDIT:
Quote: "

I apologise in advance with what I'm about to say, and I don't intend to explicitly 'bash' you, but it's just an observation: Although anyone here can say "<Whatever> offends me", it'll only actually be paid attention to if the majority support the idea - e.g. this thread. Obviously more than a single person finds the thread offensive, but because the 'majority' don't, nothing is done.

So in theory, since this is a 1 vs. 1 situation, I could say that the majority is non-existent (ignoring the fact you're a mod of course) and I could just blatantly ignore what you said was offensive. I'm not actually going to do that, but it's just something I thought about

As I said, 9/11 is a different idea, as are the London Bombings, and other terrorist attacks. There's nothing funny about terrorism, unless you enjoy watching thousands of people die. There's not even something funny about a bunch of French dying in wars, but looking at the big picture, it is semi-humorous and has become a joke that they have never really won a war.

Hope this doesn't get taken the wrong way, but....

Considering all the wars France lost, you gotta give them some credit. Is there any other country thats lost that many and still remained the same country afterwards? Besides, France has really neat architecture.

Quote: "EVERY country has a bloody history,"

American probably has a shorter history than any other country. (dunno about canada, but they really count anyways?)

Keep in mind that whenever pokes fun at a country, what they're really doing is making fun of the country's government. Say what you want about American, I don't take it as an insult. I know our government sucks donkey dung. (we can thank Bush for letting the whole world know)

the "French" are you talking about the "people" or the country? Because in my eyes one person cannot be inferior to another, only smarter. However a country can be. But I guess its all about how you look at things I suppose.

Puts on anti-flame suit

Before you go off saying things like "The country is the people, moron", just think about your government system before hand. Think about how much power people in the country(s) in question currently hold. Then think about debating about a stupid google page which says "Did you mean French defeats?". Big deal people make fun of the French (Country) all the time. Some make fun of its people, big freaking deal.

Get over it I know other countrys make fun of the american's so if anyone posted anything about the american's being "Fat" "Stupid" or hell even "Fat lazy slobs" I'd just let them know, I'm not fat....

I live in Columbus Ohio, the 6th fattest city in the fattest country in world, and I'm certainly not even close to overweight.
