I am currently working an a game using FPS Creator, and I needed some character models of gangsters for the game.

I need 4 or 5 models and I am willing to pay for them, but since I am on an extremely tight budget, I prefer a low price or if possible, free.

Also, I have to be able to use the royalty free for a commercial game. I will give full credit to the author, and I am open to any negotiations for the price of the models.

The following pics are here to give everyone an idea of what I am looking for. Now, I do not want them to look exactly like these people, but this is just for style reference.

I appreciate all future responses.

How bout no? Appreciate that responce?

Edit: I had to come back. I went for the joke there. I realize your new man but you really need to read the stickies. Even if you were paying going rate this forum is for in game media only. Meaning models, huds, buttons, music. Gotta be in game though. This isn't a WIP section, much less a conceptual section.

He got you there, not all "gangstas" are Africa-American .

Anyways, maybe I could help. Maybe I'll do some re-texturing on some of the existing characters in FPS Creator.

How many 'white' guys you know live down on Martin Luther King(add st/blv/cir or what ever fits your major city as theres one in every state). Chupa knows what I'm talkin about. He lives down by kevlar country(as he put it), but not 'in'. Theres a big difference. 'By' and 'in' is the dif in life and death

Loc, I have no idea what you are talking about

I was just kind of joking around. I like threads like these, only because it's really the only time you get joke around (typically).

I'll do it.

£10 per model (that's modelled textured and animated and FPSC ready)

OR

£5 for just a retexture of a stock media model.

Don't think you'll get it any cheaper. That would give you a royalty free licence, but I would rtain the right to seel elsewhere.

Frankly you're unlikely to get a better deal than that, because no one cares if you're on a tight budget, us modellers still have to pay rent y'know!

And if you are serious about this you should take Butters up on his offer.
You won't get a better deal than that.

This actually touches on a topic I'm addressing in my work.
It seems that in the gaming industry, the majority of heroes or protagonists are white male Americans. Playing games today is like watching television in the 50's. When other races are brought in, they are usually put in stereotypical roles.

Now since we don't actually see ourselves in an FPSC game, we could be of any origin. And there is an audio folder for a female voice. However, the weapon packs that have recently come out only support white males. It shouldn't be that hard to come out with different skin tone options. But we also need hands modeled for women as well. How silly is it to use the female voice but have weapons with male hands! LOL

And for those wondering about gangsta's etc. Stop thinking that what you see on television is real. There are people from all around the world on the board, I hope their games reflect that.

50 cent doesnt fit in there...

you've got all original 1990's west coast rappers, that made an impact on the worlds music, then youve got a New York rapper thats about to kill the entire genere of music...in a bad way......

anyway, there textures shouldent be to hard. your lucky the forum members are so nice to you, had this been a couple of months ago, this would have been a flame war...

I've addressed the subjct of hands on weapons and textures and such before.
You can always retexture the stuff if you want.
Or if you have model packs you can mix and match the textures to suit your needs.

I am not simply looking for black gangsters. I will take either, white, mexican, or black...but mostly black since my game will take place in a mostly black neighborhood.

As for everyone who made offers or suggestions, thanks a lot. I will get back to you as soon as I get a chance.

Wow £10 a model butters; you must model real fast to make that worth while to you! That is such an amazing price GLI Games; just take it; here you would ussually not get models less than $70 (which is about £35). And on the 3d chat board your looking in excess of $200-$300!

Butters you are a modeling angel

Part of the point I was making (albeit very subtle) is that making a minority a protagonist in a game requires extra work. It shouldn't be that way. However if you want a minority as an antagonist, all you have to do is drag and drop.

yeah its cheap, but bear in mind my licence stipulation:
I retain the right to sell elsewhere, so £10 a model to GLI, plus however much more I make from selling elsewhere....I wouldn't do a 1 off for £10, that'd be ripping myself off, plus theres probably quite a market for "gangstas"

And to jump in on the "why make all your gangsters black?" debate:

In london, the major perpetrators of violent (ie firearms* and stabbings) crimes are black youths. This is not to say that caucasians and other races don't commit crimes, it's just the majority of this kind of crime is commited by black people (usually black on black as well, ie they are the perpetrator and the victim).

This is in no way a racist rant, it's a statistical fact, now with regards to your reference images, I personally wouldn't model the characters to that style, simply because the kind of hood rats who'll stab you up for your wallet and mobile, are not the kind of people who walk around with £1000 dollar gold chains and a rolex. They're more, you know, bust up Reebok classics and a tracksuit style.

Perhaps I'll have a go at a "street thugs" character pack, with a few black hood rats, some white skin heads and yakuza types.

Weighed under in DBPro at the moment, but if GLI is serious I'll get started.

Butter fingers, I am very serious about this pack as I need it desperatly for my game. If you do create an actual "Street Thugs" pack, I will be the first in line to purchase it.

As for you retaining ownership, I am completely okay with that. After all, isn't the what TGC is doing with their model packs? So please do many FPSC users as well as myself a favor and make this pack.ed

I don't know about the others, but as for me, it will be much appreciated.

I can't speak for London. But a lot of people here in the USA make the same observations. In fact I did as well when I first came to this country. Then a friend gave me a book called, "Don't believe the hype." It demonstrated that most people use a ladder of inference. That combined news services that give stories to keep viewers tuned in rather than share a good balance what's going on, can skew thinking. Anyway the book went to show that yes, if you narrow the focus to certain neighborhoods, "crime types", and age groups, you will get numbers that support the black youth view. If you widen the focus to crime in general, you find that white males commit the majority of crimes in the U.S. The same may hold true for London. I can't be sure. I only know that London is pretty bad off. I think the crime rate is at least double that of the worst city in the U.S. (Washington DC?) Anyway, enough of my pontificating. Back to gaming!

You guys. I was just joking. No need to come in with statistical facts. Although those are the same as down here in California. Here it's more typical to see a black gangster.

* Nearly a third of former prisoners were still under correctional supervision, including 731,000 on parole, 437,000 on probation, and 166,000 in local jails.

* In 2001, an estimated 2.7% of adults in the U.S. had served time in prison, up from 1.8% in 1991 and 1.3% in 1974.

* The prevalence of imprisonment in 2001 was higher for

-- black females (1.7%) and Hispanic females (0.7%) than white females (0.3%)

* Nearly two-thirds of the 3.8 million increase in the number of adults ever incarcerated between 1974 and 2001 occurred as a result of an increase in first incarceration rates; one-third occurred as a result of an increase in the number of residents age 18 and older.

Lifetime likelihood of going to State or Federal prison

* If recent incarceration rates remain unchanged, an estimated 1 of every 15 persons (6.6%) will serve time in a prison during their lifetime.

* Lifetime chances of a person going to prison are higher for

-- blacks (18.6%) and Hispanics (10%) than for whites (3.4%)

Notice these are government statistics on a government site

Although I belive in Mr.Argyris theroy, in that the tendency is to select data to pay attention to which supports our beliefs, If you've ever spent even one day in any jail(and I spent quite a few for "assult with intent to do great bodily harm". Not proud of it, I'd never pick a fight, but the gentleman in question was sitting in my car when I exited a bar having tried to hotwire it. I wasn't happy), you'd find these are not assumptions. Sadly these are the facts as the Government site state.

It seems even Uthink is victom of the same "Selected Data & Experience" theroy to which he sites. A statistical look at the figures shows Washington to have less crime then Nashville.

Here in Michigan we got Detroit....Pffft...We own your crime statistics by nearly three times. Hehe, Go Blue? lol

Absoloutly mental. In our societies these days, we cant defend ourselves, our property or loved ones, without retrebution (spelling?).
There was a stupid case here in the UK where a young male (20-25) was repeatedly going onto farmers land stealing his personal property that he had worked for to pay for. The farmer, after i think it was like 6 years of no help from the police took it into his own hands.
The young man came back one night, and was shot in the leg (Not fatal) to stop him escaping.
The farmer tied him up, and handed him over to the police.
A few days later the farmer recieved a notice informing him he was being sent to court. This farmer is now in prison.

Thats like me going into one of your houses every month for 6 years, stealing a few TVs, a stereo etc. You catch me, and i get a cash settlement from you and you serve 5 years for doing the right thing.

Society these days is mad, and I resent living in the UK under our government.

Guys this is a game creating forum, no need to get into a political debate and start pulling up facts. I could give some opinions myself from New Jersey (USA) but I'm much more interested in the "Gangsta" pack. Any News? I'm most likely going to buy, never know when toughs characters can come in handy.

Gangster. Too bad TGC didn't put that head on a "Thug" body. That would've made a great character. Maybe give him some baggy jeans and a hoody! lol!
