Yeah, same. But they might push it back even more. If this is an April fools joke, it's a sick, sick joke . I really am looking forward to this trailer-I love the GTA games.

Yea trailers out ... Graphics look amazing ! but it didn't really seem like a good trailer ... i think they could have made a better trailer.
But other than that it looks as if it will be a fun game ... New York to explore as a Russian ... Kool! Now time to get the xbox 360 and PS3 so i can be ready for when it comes out.

It will probably play exactly the same as the other games in the series.

Funny thing is, there was a fake GTA screenshot of this new game that looked like what the trailer had (but of course, well before the trailer was out, so its not a snapshot of the trailer). Some one got lucky with a fake screenshot

I'm looking forward to this, I always enjoy GTA games more than I think I will, but with recent gaming trends (Crackdown, Saints Row, Just Cause) I think this will be pretty huge on the 360 rather than the PS3. Rockstar are gonna show them how it should be done.

Now, if the Rockstar guys could just add multiplayer, even if it's just 4 player hosting like these other styled games, then I can see me loosing a lot of hours on this . Personally I thought San Andreas was excellent, being a fan of old school gangster rap the setting just suited me - it was almost like one of those 90's hood movies like Juice or practically any movie starring Ice T/Cube. Hopefully IV will have even more thought put into it.

Looks great, the video is too high def for my computer to handle...I'm not kidding, both the online and downloaded versions didn't stream properly. I'm glad its less ganstar/chavs dream sort of game this time round (unlike San Andreas) It sounds like a fairly cool GTA game.

Pfft, think of it as a more perfected gta I'm always up for a new gta, new stuff to drive around and see, new missions, new story. Russian mafia sounds like a great gaming experience to me

It's not really the same old same old... San andreas and gta3 were fairly different in terms of play even though the basics were the same, just as this will likely be compared to san andreas...

Yeah, I know. I just want something fresh. Original 3D GTA was awesome, vice city was kept my attention for a few weeks, San Andreas held my attention for about 1 week .... you see the pattern .. they all feel the same to me. I won't buy this game cos I won't get value for money.

Nothing actually happens, the graphics aren't mindblowing, and the Russian accent is absolutely dire...

I'm shocked, but not in a good way. I knew it was taking place in Liberty City, so that part isn't shocking, and I figured they'd improve the graphics... but my problem here is that they aren't going "up" in any way other than graphically. They're following an epic like San Andreas with a single city, and it doesn't look like you can leave that city in any way. Sure, the game is beautiful and all that, but who cares? GTA isn't supposed to be gorgeous... it's one of the few modern chart-topping games that people will play and love with only mildly-decent graphics. Those almost-cartoony graphics make the game fun(ny). So as one of the more hardcore GTA fans, I'm extremely dissappointed that they've seemingly sacrificed scale (and possibly gameplay) for graphics, and humor for seriousness.

But I say "seemingly" because I'm still hoping that this is some sort of joke. It would not be the first time they've done something like this. I remember when the trailer and press release for Sin City came out, and how excited everyone got over it. I'm still thinking this must be some sort of joke, because this game looks like it breaks up and throws out a lot of the principal elements that people look for in a GTA game. And this trailer was released almost exactly at the same time the Sin City press kit was released (GTA: Sin City was announced around the 20th of March if I remember correctly, and it had people going for more than a week before they broke the news to everyone). It looks serious, but I'm hoping... praying... that this isn't the next GTA.

Matt; I seriously doubt it is an April Fools Joke. And if it is; it's not really funny, is it? "ha ha". :S

Looks good to me anyways; you've made alot of assumptions based on a 30 second trailer.

Anyways opinions are like iPods: many people have them.

And they come with faulty software (and don't work on Vista). And some are preloaded with viruses.

Agreed, why on Earth did that trailer have a countdown? All it did was reveal the (now quite obvious) setting. I mean come on, I want to see some action

I think they're perfectly fair assumptions to make. If you were able to get out of Liberty City, I feel as though they would have shown that in this trailer, maybe the character driving along a country road or maybe visiting Niagara Falls, I mean, why wouldn't they? It looks painfully obvious that they made GTA IV look as pretty as pretty can be, but they didn't do anything to match the scale of San Andreas.

That being said, after carefully studying each frame in this trailer yesterday with a friend, we've come to the conclusion that is apparently some sort of "re-envisioning" of Liberty City. Not from the ground up... if you watch carefully, and if you're a hardcore fan of GTA, you'll definitely notice a few of the locations are, for the most part anyway, the same (for instance, near the start of the trailer you'll see the hill that leads up to the Bistro). But New York City is a massive place, and I'm wondering if maybe they've expanded Liberty City to include all of the burroughs and whatnot. I guess we won't know until more trailers and screenshots are released, but if they did that, then I won't have a problem with the game's scale. If they didn't, and this is the same old Liberty City with prettier graphics, then I'm going to be extremely angry about it .

Am I the only person who remembers the huge "Sin City" gag? It was blatently obvious to me at the time that it was going to be San Andreas, but tons and tons of people said I was wrong at the time, pointing out articles like this one on IGN, and this one on top consoles. I always kept those links, too, waiting for the next GTA to be released, expecting a gag around April Fool's day, waiting for people to get serious about the new release like they did with Sin City so I could be the one to say "don't count your chickens yet." It seemed like a serious release announcement, and everyone was holding their breath in anticipation of the Rockstar/ Frank Miller duet. Then, sure enough, they said it was a hoax. I didn't think that was very funny either, and neither did Amazon, who had already posted Grand Theft Auto: Sin City as a future product.

However, it looks like my anticipation of an April Fool's joke just blew up in my own face. Everyone who is extremely familiar with the series had strong reason to believe it was taking place in Liberty City, because that's the classic GTA pecking order ever since the first GTA came out. So either (A) this is the next GTA, because that's what it looks like, or (B) the Houser's know that people are sure that the next GTA will take place in Liberty City, and they've made this trailer to capitalize on their fans' guesswork, just to make it that much funnier to themselves and to get people riled up for something that isn't coming, only so they can unveil what they consider to be a masterpiece down the road.

In case I lost anyone, I'm trying to say this: While this looks like a legitimate announcement, it might be more of the Housers' trickery. They've done it in the past... the Sin City announcement seemed legitimate, with screenshots and whatnot, and everyone was getting all excited over a game that didn't exist. Meanwhile, the two or three people out there who were onto the gag (like me ) were the ones who were really getting a laugh out of it.

With this trailer, I really don't know what to think. I honestly can't figure out if this is a gag, or if this is serious. Everything is pointing toward it being a gag -- the countdown to the trailer, the announcement looming dangerously close to April Fool's day, the tacky Russian voice acting, the inclusion of so many real-world landmarks... but then the location and the time period point directly to my primary prediction of taking place in Liberty City and/ or Liberty State in the present. So I really can't tell if this is a joke or not. But in the word's of The Who, "We won't be fooled again." If this is a gag, I won't be surprised, but if it's serious, I'm going to be extremely curious (and worried) as to where this series is going in the next decade.

Uhh guys i haven't played a GTA before (and don't really want too, not my sort of game) but i was watching the trailer to see what this was all about. Don't you guys think that having a building in the trailer with the words "Getalife" on it probably means it's fake? Unless of course that is some GTA joke that I wouldn't get without playing the series.

If you had played GTA, you would be familiar with the hilarious advertisements and company names all throughout each of the games. GTA has always had funny commercials, billboards, etc., and I think "Getalife" replacing the "Metlife" building in NYC might be one example of that. A while back, before they started licensing real music, even the music stations were funny. The country station in the first GTA had all of these songs about losing your wife, dog, house, and truck... it was classic .

A little GTA radio trivia for you: On GTA 3's radio station "Flashback FM," all of the songs they play come from the epic movie "Scarface." It was funny watching that movie back when I was still playing GTA 3 and saying "woah, I know this song now!"
