The DarkMATTER ones walk backwards - I have had the same problem. In fact, I used the glitch to take some nice screen captures for my tutorial, it looked like the character was walking towards the camera, not away
At the beginning of the tutorial, I simply loaded the character like so and fixed the pivot:
` Make a character
load object "media\H-GI-Move.x", cCHARACTER
yrotate object cCHARACTER, 180
scale object cCHARACTER, 500,500,500
set object speed cCHARACTER, 50
loop object cCHARACTER,5,25
fix object pivot cCHARACTER
