Like I said, it's just a formality of me playing the full game/demo before I bestow the BOTB title upon you.

You are right. And every time I see some new screens from rolfy's game, I know that I would need nine lifes to achieve his 3d-zen-level and that I should collect stamps instead of making games.

In other words:

was a joke. Therefore the emoticon

Um...I guess you haven't released this publicly I'd take it or a thread of yours would be at the top of the heap(so why don't we bump this right now. I know I'd said I'd email back but this is just as good). What can I say Rolfy...."Absolutely Beautiful!!". From the very start, of the room with 4 doors, this has very little, if any FPSC feel. Maintained a good frame rate. The splash screens were professionally done. Gorgeous from top to bottom.

Question: Are the Shadows from the trees painted on the textures?

Note: Birds(all sounds really, even foot steps) chirping was a wonderful touch. Sound levels seemed very consistent.

If you could ....send me some screen shots of your maps in FPSC...Love to see the behind the scenes stuff.

What can I say?....Get me a towel....

Without doubt, the best completed game I've played from FPSC.

Best

@Locrian,first off it's really good to see you around here again,I've missed your presence.
Yeah the tree shadows are baked into the textures, there are secondary softer shadows using the lightmaps produced by the engine as well, giving things a nice dappled sunlight appearance in the level you speak of.
Now that I have received some feedback from the beta testers, there are a couple of things which will need sorting, things which did not show up on my computer during the build.
These are fairly minor issues with textures not showing on certain objects which I believe are just uvmapping glitches.
The werewolves at the moment were just placeholders with pretty naff AI and animation,I will make them faster and give them lope and slash anims now to get them up to speed,I will then send them over to s4real for scripting.
Since the fps has held up pretty well on most machines I feel I can actually expand and improve on these levels, introducing more gameplay.

Sorry Keith it's still at beta stage just now and I wouldn't like to release till it's the best I can make it.

For anyone interested, the latest news on this is my friend Alan Craig has agreed to let me use the music from his opera 'The nicht's the nicht' (Tonights the night), performed by the Prague Symphony Orchestra no less,in the demo.

Ertlov,I look forward to hearing from you.

If ya want I can do some scripting for ya. After all it is my specialty (Though I haven't exactly used it in awhile...unless DBP programming counts)

Anyways, this stuff looks excellent! I don't think I could ever get to the level you're at. Reminds me alot of Oblivion.

If you changed the footstep sounds, bless you. I'm getting sick of them. I really need to change mine but I don't really have a good sound resource. And my microphone's quality has a bit to be desired.

Vote today and play the games!

Just been on holiday for couple of weeks and now getting back into things.
The first beta has thrown up a couple of minor issues which I will attend to now,I can also now think about introducing more level design and gameplay.the first beta was checking out any collision problems and framerate and all seems well so I am very happy with things just now.
Things still to do include completing animations on enemies and creating better ai for these,I am also going to expand the size of some areas, this is only a three level demo so far so it has to be perfect in all ways.
I would like to thank the beta testers for their valued help on this,I have also recieved the music and dont expect to take too much longer now.

I have just completed the cottage cutscene for the first level, this is where Sixus will, give you the first key to the garden door, let you know what you have to do and gives a couple of clues on how to get through it all.
Took a lot of animating and 20 hours of rendering,it's not perfect but it does the job for a demo
Reanimated the werewolves with lope and slash attacks, redid some scripts for doors so they are one way.
Waiting for a special switch script from s4real,hint hint lol
Still to place the music in areas that could use a little extra atmosphere.
All in all it's coming together,I also have to earn a living, so patience, it will happen

@rolfy

You are really detail oriented. But that's what it takes to produce a really good game. I will definately take plenty of notes from you as should others in this community. Its all about perfection to the best of your/ and ours abilities when creating games.

Based on what I've seen since you first showed us screenies of your project. It would seem 3DS MAX is a good choice for creating rendered graphic objects and models for FPSC. It also allows you to overcome some of the quirks in FPSC aswell.

Can't wait to play the demo.

Okay, since I know you like dragons. Here's a shot from the opening movie sequence for the full game, this is not intended for the demo,it still needs a little work.

Did it take long time to render the clip? It took me like two hours to render just a terrain scene and it was just 2 minutes long.

Btw, the motion of the dragon is a little wierd, it swings arond way too much, smoothing down the movement would make it looks better.

Erg!What a stramash
I did say it was needing some work, the terrain is needing some serious antialiasing, and o.k. the dragon animation could be a little smoother.
This was a long render, the terrain is a mix of geometry with some displacement mapping, the texture diffuse is three colours calculated on height and slope, with additional bump. The sky is also volumetric and not simply a skybox so it has some heavy processing.
This was only a small part of what will be fairly long sequence with travel through many different landscapes and was a first trial render.

Keith,I dont know why this wont download for you,I will e-mail a copy over to you and see if that works
