Is there any way of setting up DBPro so that it doesn't need to check the CD every so often when compiling?

I know this must be part of the copy protection but it is extremely annoying to have to dig out the CD now and again to verify the compiler.

Is there any way round this? Please tell me there is!

On some machines you can simply run the editor directly from the editor directory this tends to solve it.
Not sure what causes it... i can't seem to figure out howto use the compiler seperate anymore, been told by someone perhaps it isn't able to do that anymore - which is the first thing i'd appreciate Lee to work on in a few weeks as i'd like to use my own IDE rather than the DB one, i mean no offense but it is way too much like DarkEdit... as someone has said DarkEdit 2.0 rather than DarkBasic Pro IDE
Also believe that the IDE should be able to run DarkBasic as well for those who have it - so you choose what to use

The compiler checks the CD every 100 compiles ... it's just a copy protection If you run the editor directly you can bypass the editor check but not the compiler check.

It's really annoying though.

I'm working on small snippets of FX code so I'm compiling very often and I keep having to get the CD out again

I here talk that this check is removed in the 2nd patch, is this true?

As shown in various places on this and RGT, simply change registry key at:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Info]

Here you will find a key with a value of how many compiles you have done. When it is 100 or more you are forced to put in CD when it will reset.

Just change number to a big negative number like -99999999 and you will never need CD again

cheers, I'll give that a try.

Here's hoping they remove the CD check in the new patch anyway.

just set this value in the registry to get rid of it:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Info]
"fileinfo"="-99999999"

it just seems to be there to annoy people!
