It would be nice if TGC would add hit points to FPS Creator X10.

That's what that health number is...just change the hud so it says "hit points" instead of health.

The gravity fall issue is fixed, you now drop like a stone!

Speed wise, Lee is in full optimisation mode as I write this. Frame rates will be awesome!

Please say this is being added into X9. Sorry for being so jumpy, but whenever you announce a new Non DirectX10 exclusive feature I get all mad wanting it for X9. (When I say "Non DirectX10 exclusive features" I mean stuff that could be done without Direct X10, like better AI and gravity, and making it so you can't shoot through other entities.)

Keep up the good work TGC.

Holy crap! As if it isn't challenging enough to work with one version. Maybe there hasn't been an update because they keep finding things to add. Nobody complained this much when V1.04 was going from RC1 to RC10. The only reason anybody wants this stuff is because it will be in x10. Let 'em work for crying out loud.

Just my 2 cents...

Yes they did complain.A lot.People are just giving suggestions on what they would like to see.It is perfectly understandable if x10 is being pushed that current version users want more things.

Yeah I know, but it's getting a little old to see X10 threads littered with "I want this, I want that" for X9. Sorry for expecting X10 threads to be X10 threads.

As opposed to all of the threads about x10 that are started instead of posting them here? This is an FPSC current version forum.
Therefore,it is not unreasonable to have posts about this version of FPSC.When there is an x10 forum set up then we can get all picky about what post goes where.
Maybe we all need to lighten up a little...

cool but now I don't think getting X10 is a good idea anymore. It's a really pricey upgrade plus many people won't be able to play your games unless they have a great comp too

yeh, but keep in mind that by the time X10 is released more people will have an up to date comp, and people cannot stay with XP forever.
Sooner or later they will have to upgrade.

kind of wrong, think about it...everyone.

every new pre-built PC comes with vista as standard from now on.

thats one down. next all you need is the graphics card, so thats around £60 for an 8500GT.

done.

as long as you've got a decent PCI-express motherboard and a good enough psu, you should be set, and even those aren't too much to ask.

i don't know what all this gibberish about + $1000 expense is coming from (besides if you are going to buy a completely new machine, which is pointless )

@Slayer222

I think he meant playing the games, not designing them on a console.

@ everyone else

Anyway, i got a free copy of vista when i bought my laptop in january, and im pretty sure any new computer you buy from now on will have vista, so unless you plan to upgrade your computer forever, and not buy a new one, i think everyone will eventually upgrade.

Even though i dont have a super computer, i still think my specs are enough to run FPSCx10, i mean if 4 gigs of ram gets them 80 or 90 fps, then im sure 2 gigs can get you somewhere.

Computer parts are going down in price every week, so i think everyone will eventually upgrade, but im going to do it just to stay ahead of the game

Are you kidding? tell me where you can get a good comp that can run X10 under 1000 USD? I wuld love to get a link. Playing on X box would be ok but probably a lot of work,
*Slayer_2
P.S. of course I'm buying a new PC this ones a modifed 98! FPSC is soooo glitchy on it like white explosions lightmapping dosn't work.

You can upgrade your current one for less than $500.
This includes Vista

More RAM

That's the issue I have now.I have to find out whether my motherboard can handle the 8500.
But I am going to wait until I am sure I want to buy it before I start annoying tech support people with stupid questions.

I say If i'm going to upgrade, I might as well get a new machine.

(Plus my computer now would have to have practically every part changed just to run x10 semi-good. This is because my current desktop only has a pentium III CPU and Windows 98 )

whats your current graphics card interface type?

there's nothing to get hyped about mobo's however, there are loads that should work, and they aren't too expensive.

just a piece of information for anyone wondering about the 8800 GTS (done some research, close to getting mine ) that the 320MB version is EXACTLY the same as the 640MB, same speeds and everything, the only difference is the memory cut in half, which isn't too bad seeing as the price is as well.

edit:

OK, Ive taken the plunge, just finally pushed myself to purchase the eVGA Super-clocked 8800GTS 320MB which is a little faster than the BFG version, and Ive heard some nice things, cant wait!!

Will x10 have more depth wih normal maps?

And will it be easier to apply normal maps to segments and
entitys?
Since now when i apply it the textures becomes black.

Also i dont know if it already contains this but...

Glow maps, specularity maps.

For example Sauerbraten it is free but a great engine.
And it has great looking depth in their normal maps also they have glow maps and specularity maps.

Which makes the game look much better.

And that it would be superb if FPSC has more depth in their normal maps, also have glow maps and specularity.

Also a question.
In Doom 3 at some places there is a lamp that just swings around
but....the actuall light is also following the trail of the lamp.
So no decals.

Will this be possible in x10?

Anyway this looks very great and i will buy a videocard compatible with FPSC x10 and of course x10 itself.

i don't know if any one's mentioned this, and i don't want to sound like somebody requesting loads of crap into the engine, but people had quite a debate long ago about...

flashlights.

just think of the dynamic shadow'y goodness going everywhere

now THAT would be the best way to show off effects in the engine (hint hint) whilst the player moves.

@ anyone with the beta

if you can hear me (?) is 'jugg' in the latest beta? if so can somebody send some shots of it to my email, need to see what the maps are like in game

Hi there, I've got a few questions about the upcoming FPS creator X10:

1. the demo didn't run exactly smooth on my Core2Duo E4300 with 2GB RAM and GF 8800 GTS. The first framerate drop came when using stencil shadows. After some time that one run smooth but the effects scene was on low framerate all the time? I guess it was an unoptimized version and still alpha/beta, did you enhance the speed since then?

2. I've learned that the original FPS creator had just deathmatch as an option for multiplayer. Will X10 have enhanced multiplayer options like setting victory conditions?

3. Will the enhanced AI also be available for multiplayer?

4. Can DLLs be used for plugins?

Yeah....I've requested that.......here is my list of demands from the other x10 thread. If these demands are not met within 24 hours I will destroy.....PIZZA HUT Muhuahauhahahuahahhahauhahuahhau!!!!!!!!!! *cough*

Anyways, here is the list:

I would like to see....
1. Animated textures (like avi. or gif. for tv's, computers, etc.)
2. The possibility to assign lights to...entities, weapons, characters, etc. (like have a real working flashlight)
3. Different animations for weapons (reload 1, reload 2, fire 1, fire 2, fire 3, walk 1, walk 2, walk hurt, etc.)
4. Dynamic Damage (where you shoot an enemy there will be a gruesome bullet hole)
5. Dirrerent injury areas (If you shoot in the head or groin it is one shot kill, two shots for torso, and three shots for arms & legs.)
6. Also it would be cool to have a flamethrower weapon where if you hit the enemy their clothes will catch fire and they will slowly die.
7. Lipsyncing for characters....like just put DarkVoices in the way you put DarkAI in and stuff....
8. In-game cutscenes (these things are practically standard on any fps game today)
9. in-game movie recording (so we don't have to use fraps )

Thank you, please take your time and make a high quality product.

AAIIIIIEEE I just got off dell.ca and the comp I'm considering is just over 1600 canadian bucks! Wow but at least I would get a (great) new comp as well. I need some help though, forgive my noobiness but do you guys think a 256MB nVidia GeForce 8600 GTS graphics card, a Intel® Core™ 2 E6320 Duo Processor(4MB L2 cache,1.86GHz,1066FSB), english and a 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz - 2 DIMMs will run X10 quite decently? If you need more info just ask. I am really bad with computers so I would be very happy if someone who knows would tell me please

I'm upgrading my computer over the summer with a nice DX10 card and more RAM...yum.

Yeah, a flashlight would be fantastic.

For X10 I would love the ability to execute external exe's, read and write text files, and have the main menu be optional. It would be so much better if it went right to the loading screen (I think there might be a way through scripting, but I haven't looked at the title.fpi in a while).

i have been real lucky in being able to test in beta,
its going to blow you away,
the options avalable for AI friendly or enemy
are amazing,
rick talks about optimising the frame rates in an earlier
post, they are already unbelivable,
lighting is fantastic,
when you see screen shots on the forum
and video of x10 they dont do it justice
you have to see it to belive.
i cant say to mutch,
in test level mode the editor is one of my
favorite features with its options
you can change the look of your level completely
in just seconds, live and see the changes while
walking around, the lighting features alone
can make 1 level into your next. thats without
all the other options avalable,
X10 will give everyone a chance to build
a dream game in commercial quality ,

I've been asking about these things for the longest time.
Hopefully TGC will take notice, when more people are asking for the same things.

@ TGC

Don't forget to add jurking/flinching animations to enemy characters when they get shot or hit or whatever.
