FPSC X10 is full of new features, such as bloom, ragdoll, water etc. but it is still lacking new features, other than the ones it has which just make it look nicer.

Its the little things that fpsc does not have, which I think will make it so much better.

There is one feature which I think should be added, which would be a scoring system. If any of you have played childrens adventure games, where you collect jems or coins to score points, I think FPSC should have this feature.

But besides from that, what do you all think about the new features fpsc has? Do you think it will make the new one any better than X9?

There are people who use FPSC for a variety of reasons. You don't have to make a killfest. You could make a game for little kids with FPSC if you wanted to.
It's that type of narrow vision that has pigeon holed FPSC for a long time...
It was said you can't make an RPG...
i currently have one in development as a side project.
You can't use it to make a third person shooter...
Yes you can (although it may be a pain). And I have demonstrated how.
Ben made Commander Josh. There was no blood and you just blew up robots with super soakers.I'd let a small child play it.
If FPSC isn't made for children how come the majority of the members of the FPSC forums are children?

I dislike people who just blab nonsense that isn't true. Of course you can make games for little kids, I plan on making an adventure game in the style of Spyro and Crash bandicoot, there is nothing stopping me doing this.

I agree with what you have just said, Fred. Most of the people here are 10-14 year olds, who play spyro etc. So saying fpsc isnt designed for kids, then why are you using it Maxi Studio? Unless you are over 16?

--

Anyway, I got a reply back from Lee and he said he has added my idea to the "to do" list, if there is time left he will add it to fpsc. So I hope he has spare time when fpsc x10 is complete to add the idea.

-[mod edit: Don't post your age].

If you turn the FPSC cover back, you see there is a picture like this!

-And I think this shows that the FPSC isen`t designed to children

Don't play semantics here. The point of this thread is whether or not you can use FPSC to make games for kids and the answer is yes.
The rating of the engine used and the rating of the game are two different things.
And don't post your age if you are under 18.There are child predators and they know how to use computers too.

@Maxi Studio-that rating is there because of the content that comes default with FPSC. When you make the game you control the content being released. SO by your logic, if I had a game with pornographic images in it(not that I would mind you), it would be suitable for a 12 year old because the creation system's box says 12+. That is rediculous.

BOT-The scoring system would be an excelent addition and could be used in scripting for unlimited uses. I'm glad they took your request seriously. I'm quite looking forward to it.

No, I don't think so. It will be just as buggy as V1 is, it only looks way better then V1 and has even more new gimmicks to make up for the bugs and troubles. But.... every game in DX10 looks better and even most other game engines under DX9, even the affordable ones, look just as good or still better then FPSC X10.

FPSC X10 will still be use-able for children also. That has nothing to do with the blood and such, but with the ease of use. FPSC X10 will be just as easy to use as V1, so kids can use it also.

@Benjamin A

Come On MAN!! Give the TGC team a chance. I believe they learned there lesson with FPSC V1. It definately seems like they are striving to put out a good product this time. Stay positive, because this one may be the biggest hit of all times. I appreciate them taking there time, because nobody wants jacked up development tools, and I think they truly understand this. Even though I'm anxious to get my hand on this, I don't mind waiting either.

It's not that TGC is a new company or so.... FPSC isn't their first product either.... They've been creating game engines for more then 10 years now. A company that has been around that long should have learned the lesson many years ago. If you've been using TGC products as long as I have (FPSC for sure wasn't the first engine I bought from them), you know after all these years that nothing will ever change here. It's the same ordeal over and over again.

I decided to give them one more chance with FPSC an they blew it big time. How many chances should I still give them if they haven't learned the lesson after 10 years? I give them multiple chances and they never delivered, FPSC v1 has been the last stop around here for me.

Yet you keep on posting here.Unfortunately you usually have nothing good to say.You know nothing about x10 firsthand since you have not used it or beta tested it so you have no right to say how x10 functions. In TGC's defense they are still updating this version of FPSC and have a pretty good update now.
Now you have stated your opinion (no matter how uninformed it is)...my suggestion would be to let it go.

Rick said there will be no vairables added to x10 when it is released. You need a variable to keep track of the score.

Time for a history lesson.(You asked)
The had to update DarkBasic Pro before they could update FPSC.
So if you go from the time they updated DBP to update FPSC it was well over a year ago.

Please have mercy and use the search function.
