Here's the Game's Design.

~Story~
Planet Earth has been cursed. The Witch who had casted the spell wants to rule the world but first he wants to make the people to suffer, so the spell he casted will cause everything to change to different settings to drive them crazy. You (Vaelore) decides to stop this curse by killing the Witch. The Witch's base is were nobody would look, at the tip of Mount Everest so you will need to fight off his minions and save your World!

~Gameplay~
Fighting= As you change thru different forms you will get new weapons, with different attack animations.
Items= You will find crates, jars, coffins, ect. as you play that you can break to collect Orbs (used for healing and such)
Special Items= You will find them in random places, for instance. You might get one by breaking a crate. Or one just might appear.
HUD= The hud will contain your belt, where you can place ur orbs at and special items. It will display your current status, and ect.
Combos= When fighting there will be combos, that'll let u do more damage when you reach a high combo number.

~Enemies~
The enemies you fight are the witche's minions. Since they are in planet Earth they are too effected by the spell (except the caster). So as you go pass levels you and your enemies will change.

~Quests~
Before a level begins you can have an option to do quests. When you finish quest you will get special items that you can use during gameplay or you might get points so when you beat the game you can buy unlockables. The items you get might be a potion that increases speed, power, or health. And even give you an extra life.

~A.I.~
The Enemy's A.I. wil be very smart. The will walk around and guard, but once they see you from a distance they will run off their platform and chase you down and attack until they die. Enemies with shields will have a 30% chance of landing a perfect block, enemies with bows will have a 50% chance of reaching Vaelore. Enemies with swords will have a 100% chance of hitting Vaelore. Enemies with magic will have 80% chance of casting the spell without error.

Enemies will not respawn. When they die a nice animation will show and they'll disappear. They will have a 45% chance of dropping an item. When they die you get points depending on the difficulty.

Vaelore's A.I. is smart as well. If he stands on the edge of a platform a cool animation will show him going off balance. If he gets hit he'll show that he's hurt, or if he falls he'll have a falling animation. Basically everything will be polished.

~Main Menu~
You will have a "Begin" button that will start a new game.
You will have a "Load" button that will..load a game
You will have a "Credits" button that will show you any credits.
You will have a "Secrets" button were you can buy unlockables.
You will have a "Exit" button that will exit the game.

~HUD~
You will be able you pause from the hud.
You will see ur items. And equip them on your belt.
You will see the level details. And your total points.
You will see the total quests you've done out of the total.

Lvl 7~ Ghost Hunters. Plasma guns, ghost capsule, ghost sword, and light guns, No Traps



Lvl 8~ Sharks, evil pear man, piranas whirl pools, hot coral.


Lvl 9~ Humans with guns. Physical fighters traps floor capsules that freeze, falling traps that shock.


Lvl 10~ "Lights/alarms"= (Avoid) Happy clouds"with swords" and Fighting Happy Clouds= Enemy, Weak plat., item hid, string.



Lvl 11~ Tornadoes and Floods= Nature Snakes and Spiders= Animals, **NO TRAPS**



Lvl 12~ Witch~ Setting will be mixed up with all 1-11 levels. NO enemies except the witch.

3. Ring of Defense= You take less damage permanentlly

4. Amulet of the Wolf= Your attack speed will increase, and block speed!






General Items= Get by exploring.

Are you teammates friends or did you make like a "casting"?

how do you got an Overall Game Progress of 15% with
34 times 0% and 2 times 4% and one 100%???

My friends actually make games. One of em is my cousin and the other is a classmate who is an amazing coder.

Oh and about the 15% I counted the design as most of the progress because isn't the design one of the most important aspects of a game that'll determine if it'll succeed or fail?

Update 1~

The project is going extremely well! as you can see in my first post I've updated the progress. The Jumping and Collision are now at 50% ! I had to work last night to get some work done, and it paid off.

I'm currently working on the first level's design as well. So if you guys want I'll post a new screenshot with it's platforms and such..

Just some advice, something like jumping and collision can't be quantified effectively as partially completed. For such core systems, they're either done or not done. It doesn't matter, of course, but I think might help you organize better in the future.

Yes, there is. It can, sometimes, be hard to get the right amount of rebound from walls, ceilings, etc, the right jump height that looks reasonably realistic without being too high or uselessly low, and the right falling speed so characters don't go through floors and don't fall like feathers.

In my oppinion all that you just said there is, as you mentioned yourself in an earlier post just balance. I would think all those balancing issues would be something you would play around with in a collision system that was done I don't think you can set a percentage of how complete it is because that either it's done or not, as Cash said. In mean, how can jumping only be 50% done? Either you can jump or not. It's not like you could only jump into the air and only go 50% of the way before the jumping would stop working. If that was the case, you couldn't even call it a jumping system yet. Atleast not a very effective one The same applies for collision. Either it's done or not. Everything else that you described is just balancing issues Still has nothing to do with how complete the core system is if you ask me.

Anyway

The project looks good. Looks like it's been planned pretty good!

Just incase anybody was wondering, ONLY the main character will be in stick figure style. The enemies, bosses, ect. will be in their very own unique style (just not in stick form), I did this to create some diversity between the characters.

I have worked alot lately on the game's engine. As a newcomer (noob) I've been learning while working. I finally know how to make a Main Menu thanks to TDK, and have set up the First Version of the menu. This is NOT how the menu is gonna look but it will do for now. All of the buttons work! when you click on each of them it will take you to the desired screen.

I have been working on the official Main Menu and it's going great!all of the buttons work, and when you move the cursor over the buttons they get highlighted!

Ofcourse the Main Menu's sprites are not completely done, like in that BIG light green area on the left is reserved for a drawing of Vaelore (the main character). So all that's left to do on the main menu's sprites is the game title, and the drawing.

The Main Menu's buttons had a few bugs but now they are all fixed.
As you can see in the second screenshot it works nice.

A new cursor has been made as well.

In the first screenshot the Main Menu has been updated darker because it was too bright.

What the? I don't like the menu! At least, your sig is so clean and stylish and your menu so... the total opposite... It's cluttered and simple... Why not use the Vaelore logo from your sig? And that color scheme as well?

Yes! believe it or not, I'm ready for the level design! I already started on the first level, here's a screeny of what I got so far:

I'm not at my actual home so I can't make any enemies, items, ect. So till I get home you wont be seeing any new sprites.

I agree that the newer menu looks much better. Glad to see you making progress on your project.

I dont mean to burst any bubbles here, but really you have a sprite that can jump and collide... and a main menu. I wouldnt classify that as a game myself, still a tonne of work left to do. (Im not mentioning this to be an ass, its just usually the standard is you post a WIP when you have the core game functioning, not when you've just begun writing the game).

Mmm, RUCCUS, I think that in the other topic we've agreed that if a game seems to be progressing significantly, or seems promising, then we'll just let it be. Now, I really feel this project looks promising, and as you can see there have been a lot of updates. I think Vaelore will be alright, actually.

I never said the game wouldn't be finished, or that the thread should be locked, or even that the game wasn't looking promising. I was trying to point out that it doesnt make sense to post this early in development, as the only thing people have been commenting on (because its the only thing they CAN comment on) is the style of the menu, and the idea for the game. The only commentary Ive actually seen on the game itself had to do with arguing that physics cant be classified as "50% complete". Maybe Im wrong, but if someone posts a game WIP for others to discuss, there should be a game to discuss in the first place IMO.

But forget what I said, it does look like you care about the project Game King, and you're definitely putting more work into it than other recent WIPs have shown. Ignore me, Im just blowing off steam in the wrong place.

It's not a game yet.. Like I said this is the engine. If you look at my first post ull see:

What you're seeing now is just the engine. If you look at my first post you can see below that it shows things that are being worked on and finished. Well ALL of those things are for the engine, once I'm finsihed with the engine I'll post things I need to do to finished the actual the game. Again it's not a game yet until I finish it's engine (which I'm doing now).

I hate posting without any screenshots or anything to show.. But I just wanted to let you guys know why I haven't been posting any updates for the past 2 days. I have been cleaning up my code, working on the healthbar (as you can see in my first post it's at 50% because I got some bugs), and been working on level editor related things. I will post a screenshot later today of work that's being done, take care.

It shows me jumping to the crates. (they dont break yet but they will )

As you can see the HealthBar is not there cause I'm having trouble making it appear above the other sprites : The next screenshot I will be posting tomorrow will have the new HUD, and more.

1 off-topic question are you running vista? If so does it effect DBPro.

1 on-topic question how would the game levels finish? Like will it go onto the next level or will it have more of a complex level change transition?

Yep, I'm running vista. And nope it doesn't effect DBPro at all

For each level there will be a certain amount of enemies, quests, and ect. You have to jump on other platforms to head towards the top of the mountain. There will be a hidden collision box that detects when Vaelore has passed a level. Once he touches the collision everything will start to sparkle and change to its new form. Killing enemies will earn you points for unlockables, and other good stuff. Quests will give you special items such as "God Charms". You can learn more in my first post's snippet.

Looks very interesting so far, I like the graphics-style. But although, as Ruccus said (and you also admitted) it doesn't seem to be a game so far, but it would be at least nice, if you uploaded a video of the gameplay.
