Still Looking for Tutorial Authors

Currently (as always) I'm swapped with work on, therefore I'm looking for anybody who is interested in writing/porting some tutorials for PlayBasic. In particular tutorials focusing upon creating particular styles of games.

Interested ?

I could perhaps do a few simple ones, pacman, breakout, minesweeper. But I haven't looked at PlayBasic since you first released it, so I'd have to familiarize myself with the code.
Is there a 30 day demo available?

Kevin, I was thinking of using a movie that loops in the background for a 2d shooter, but don't really have the time to develop it.

This movie is a render from maya, the premise was that you flew around the large organic object as if is was a round map instead of side scrolling

Anyway if its useful, feel free to deploy it, provided you can use movies in the background etc.

Ill post a smaller one for now and we can work out how to get a higher one later if it works for you.

Anything you contribute would certainly be appreciated. It wouldn't be difficult make them dual purpose for the most part anyway. You could write a 2D DB versions if you're more comfortable and i'll port them.

That's possibly an advantage.. Ideally it'd be nice to keeps them as simple as possible, focusing more on how the game mechanics work, rather rather here's some pretty effect, or how to do a clever trick.

Nope, there's a unlimited FREE version available though

PlayBasic V1.64L Unlimited FREE Version is Available

This release represents a massive overhaul of the previous PlayBASIC V1.62 demo. The V1.62c package not only includes the latest bug fixes and optimizations, but new cross referenced help files and the newly updated example pack. (Including the new Axis demo )

Have fun!

Edited Sep,2010 - The above is obsolette, today's demo has some much more....

What I think it was, because you use the abbreviation fam. and it could have looked like 'fan' and therefore a mix up and I guess he felt you made an unnecessary point and responded with one.

Anyway, I like writing tutorials, though I've not even glanced at play basic, give me a few of sample codes, a demo and I'll see what I can do. Plus what sort of thing do you want?

Also, I'd note it'll take me a week to respond back to you as I am away as of 11pm tonight.

The FREE version comes with a large selection of help files & Examples. If you're familiar with DB/DBpro then it's pretty similar. On the surface at least.

It's the real nuts and bolts stuff that people seem to have the biggest problems with. you know all the boring programming principals stuff.. Most of which is universal, so it'd easy to offer PB and DB versions. So some ideas for tutorials tidbit could cover bare bones game mechanics separately. Controlling a player, bullets, collision / reaction, mapping, alien AI ideas, movement patterns could be topics worth covering etc etc. Or perhaps create a walk through on how to recreate a simple version of a retro arcade. There's a couple of these already written for stuff like Pong and Space Invaders.

Up to you really.
