Hi to my fellow 2d artists. I am fed up with 3d programs that make 3d art totally foreign to even skilled 2d artists such as myself. It has been a major frustration. I have tried anim8tor, 3d canvas and other programs and even finally bought TrueSpace 5.2 thinking a commercial package would solve my problems.
Well, I found a really cool FREEWARE (as far as I know) program which some of you may or may not have heard of. It's called HexaGreat 3d (Japanese import)- Sorry, I don't have a link. It was one of those hit-and-miss searches and I figured it would be another lame program.
Well, IT'S NOT! It is the easiest 3d program I have found that is so 2d-friendly you'll probably be amazed. I was suprised how easy it was to use- the learning curve is hardly even existant. It can export to TrueSpace, but TS converts it all to triangles so it looks a bit different, but for the most part it retains whatever you draw in HG3d.
I am so stoked- I created my first really cool (in my inexperienced opinion) model. Sure, it's still a little screwy cuz I have to know how to connect the right faces and all, but man I am so happy! IT'S 2D-FRIENDLY!!!!!!!! I know this is a 2d forum, but if any of you are like me, I want to do 3d too but figured it was too hard.
Check out this program, I think it's a Godsend!
