I've been noticing lately, not just with these forums, but almost all game-making software I know of is getting flooded with new users.

Lately, it just seems noobs are flooding the "game-making" world. I'm not saying they're idiots or anything, it's good to have new users, it's just that they're all over the place. I've been making video games for almost 8 years, and almost all of a sudden, these know-it-all arrogant noobs pop-up out of nowhere!

Please see this thread.

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=108734&b=2

And you'll know how I feel.

I can relate C++ duder. Maybe not in programming snobbery, but in other aspects of life where I've acted like a dick. In the end, you'll know who the better one is, as will everyone else.

My philosophy is: If it's too obvious they're idiots, odds are you don't need to point it out. Kinda like how there's no need to tell a crippled child you can skip rope better than him. Just chillax and let the kid play with RPGmaker. Work away at your own badass mofo game.

Either that or go brood in a corner with your rusty hatchet. Incompetent fools!! Their time will come.

I find it Odd there used to be 1 or 2 noobs back in '06 (had an old account forgot password) but now almost everyday I see like a new tread saying "[insert number here] questions for a major n00|3 plz" lol, kinda odd there mostly flooding the FPSC forums

It's not really new...

For as long as I've been here, there's been a constant flow of new users in, and old users out.

Noob warz0z!! N00bs vs old timers show down! Coding standing off. First person to code pong wins. Points awarded for extra flair! Any n00b failing to create pong will be stoned to death (virtually).

5 minutes starts now ....

(Yes, I am joking. I'm at work!! But if you want to code pong in 5 minutes, be my guest)

Yep, MMORPG Pong. Nice. Expect mass ponging by the start of next week. Include an RPG element though (quest to save the pink paddle who is kidnapped by the black paddle) as well as the ability to play pong against millions of other players at the same time.

This is no longer acceptable. Let's see....

It's a quest to punish the pink paddle for making better shots than the black paddle who was not given the opportunity to gain the level of expertise of the pink paddle due to economic conditions.

There.... that works much better. But I digress....

Yeah, I think it's a cycle, and many of the current new people will fall by the wayside in time.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

Nah, you must find the one true paddle that rules them all. The golden paddle. Battling orc like paddles (brown and orangey) as you go you must team up with this really short grumpy paddle, a big long skinny panel who could do with a haircut, some other short useless paddles who have rubbish music in the background all the time, some old loser paddle who sings for no reason in the end, and a white demi-god of a paddle. Together you make the fellowship of the paddle. And you are Pongo from Pong-End. Or somesuch. Meanwhile a giant orange paddle turns to the south...

I'll do the 3D for that one Lets see.... rectangle.... paint orange.... 1st character done!!! Whoop.

Ach! Give me a ******* break! Posted a big load of nonsense and the web cocked up. Either DB or stupid Cypriot internet I don't know. Sigh. Well annoyed now...

So to summarise my amazingly funny post of rubbish:-
1. Hahaha. Funny.
2. Sequel? Obviously in add-on packs:-
a. The Two Paddles
b. Return of the Pong
c. Pongitt (something about giant green paddles...)
Then I can die and you lot can expand on my very limited small ideas to make:-
d. Tom Bombpaddle
e. Similcantpronounceitbutlikethateightiesbandithinkpaddle
d. That new one (children of Pong - I actually like that...)
3. LOL
4. Some other, let me assure you, really amusing stuff.

Cheers

1. haha, you must be gutted.
2. glad there's some sun.
3. I want to go home.
4. The DBP wiki is a good idea.
5. Pong sucks.
6. Elite doesn't, but going round in circles is crap
7. I'm so funny. I was gonna type some hilarious stuff here.
8. Cabbage and mash potato is otherwise known as bubble and squeek.

1. Not gutted. In fact invented whole new forum communication method...
2. I am like a God me.
3. I am home. And I am at work. And I have 5 minutes left...
4. This thread is about a wiki?
5. Pong + MMO + LOTR + Beer^2 = Awesome game!
6. Elite + Circles + MMO + LOTR + Pong + Beer^2 = Even more awesome game!
7. More genius level crazy humour that would be the funniest ever thing ever. If I could remember it. Much like that Tenacious D song... But better (and funny)...
8. There is no sun now. Still hot though
9. GOTO 2

Now you are talking! But keep eating that salad.

Hey, Fallout, you noticed that since this n00b thread was created we have like reverted and are acting a lot like n00bs ourselves? Something in that I feel and should be analysed more. In the mean time we should instead discuss the power-ups that should be available to the light and good side of the Pong. Obviously there is the golden paddle to start with...

I think our n00bness is safely localised in this thread, and also is a result of work related despair (it is for me anyway).

As for the power-ups available for the light side of the Pong, I suggest:
- Massive paddle
- Sticky paddle
- Curvy paddle
- Hyper Speed paddle
- Double paddle
- Gravitational paddle
- Doggy paddle

That and it's a bit humid today. I'm trying to acclimatise so am trying to leave off the A/C. Only about 31c, but pretty humid. But yeah, work is getting me down a bit. Another round of redundancies in the last few weeks. There goes another batch of friends (including one who started the same day as me in 1995). Gotta love bi-yearly redundancy rounds since 911 happened. Didn't have a single one from 1995-2001. Sigh...

Enough of that though! Nice list of power-ups there! Doggy paddle? Like big ears, tail, and barks? There is going too far down the n00b path mate... Don't forget the golden paddle makes you invisible.... and corrupts you to the dark side so the mighty orange paddle can take you over...

I can see it now : Do you like cheese? Do you like peas? Then you will love new MMO Pong (Children of Pong (c) ) with optional LOTR RPG add-ons and unrelated PowerUps!!!

Hmmm. Optional RPG add-ons.... Once again we come up with a new invention!!! MMOORPG. Yes.

I WENT TO SLEEP LAST NIGHT TO WAKE UP WITH 26 POSTS!

I could program an all new pong in five minutes, but I won't!

As far as making an online MMO Pong, I could do that in about 10 minutes, just need to get all the proxy ports and then I'm in business!

Getting back on topic.

It just seems in all the years I've been game-making, this has to be the biggest hike I've EVER seen. Yes, maybe 10-15 people I'll see, but now, I'm seeing at least 30+. They're all over the place, the game store, online. I even see kids talking about it.

I started making games when I was 12, and I didn't have much experience. The kids today seem to have little experience, because they didn't grow up in the era when we actually had to code our own games.

Oooh oooh... more golden oldies acting more like n00bs. Although I was trying to be good and get something done too...

Meh, I laugh at all your MMORPG Pong games. I bet they are just Pong with lots of people. With *my* vision it is pong over a fantastic play area that happens to look a little like WoW (this is where my 3D contribution stops. Paddles and pong ball only for me). Plus it's MMOORPG don't forget.

Is that supposed to bring up twisted visions of paddles in compromising positions, or is it just me?

I envision a world where all paddles are the same, and there is no game, because there would be a winner, which means that there would be a loser, and we can't have that. So it would be a world of dysfunctional, useless, paddles which do nothing for fear of being a trouble maker. (which is not allowed)

Yes.... OK then.

Where did this thread turn into a pong thread?

You know, I actually made a thread about Pong, and nobody posted in it.

Now I make a thread about noobs, and people post about Pong.

My vision was to use people AS the ball. The balls could be equipped with the paddles. We can call it People-pong: The Ball's Revenge. Imaginge Circus Atari with rag-dolls.

LOL. This thread is really getting out of hand with ridiculousness. MMO Pong. If one was made, I'm sure no one would play.

I have seen MMO games made with *gulp* flash. *Huh*

Do I dare speak of flash? Oh no! I spoke of flash!

Seriously though, flash is very over-rated and VERY overused.

It wasn't getting rediculous until you said that no one would play. Now that is rediculous. Or maybe we just need to revise our acronymn. MMORPG = Massive Multiplayer Online Rediculous Pong Game. There, happy?

Right I've finished drinking beer. Might do some code now...

Anyhow I will use my recently patented forum summary method for all those posts:-
1. Yeah
2. Yes
3. Aha
4. Angel Summoner & BMX Bandit
5. No
6. Yes, I actually did read about MMOPong
7. It's MMOORPG. Massively multiplayer online (with) optional RPG elements (the LOTR add on packs of course)

Right, it may be the beer talking, but all of a sudden MMOORPG pong (perhaps without LOTR addons...) doesn't sound too bad. Scrambling for the ball as you whack it around a nice landscape with hundreds of other people trying to do the same (whatever that is) thing. Nice... Second thoughts I think it is just the beer talking... Although nice on the media eh? I mean I've got the paddles and the balls sorted already Even the doggy one...

Please stop changing the subject.

I thought Fallout's post that started the Pong thing was the end of it, nope.

Replying to Fallout's ORIGINAL post, I think if there was a competition between all the noobs and all the veterans, I'm sure the noobs would use the infamous RPG Maker to make a game.

Don't know what I'm talking about?
