Hello all,

I just recently downloaded the Bioshock demo off of Xbox Live. Although it was 1.3 Gigs it is well worth the memory space and the wait to download. This FPS is awesome with some really cool features that change the game play and make it a non-generic FPS but still fun and violent. Anyways I think it hit Xbox Live fairly recently and I wanted to see if anyone else has tried it out and liked it. I would suggest to anyone wanting a new type of game to try this demo out.

I love the flame plasmid. And of-course the lightning plasmid.Apparently it is the best FPS in history as stated in Gamer TV. And it is only Xbox 360 and PC game so no wii or Ps3 game to make it rubbish.

My fav in the demo is the Electro-Shock,(lightning). Because it can be use for so many things like disabling machines temp, zapping enemies and stunning them, shocking water and kill anyone whos in it, ect rct.

I love the entry building I looked at that and it looked exactly like what you'd see in a film.(A CG building)

The Lighthouse? Yeah that part all looked like CG. One of the users who said they played it said "I just was in the water staring like at the sky,i thought it was still CG its gameplay!". Amazing graphics.

I must definitely agree! This game is uber when it comes to visual effects! I now look at my DBP projects and just feel ashamed at the pettiness in their lack of visual awe. This game is definitely on my to-buy list for Xbox 360 along with Assassins Creed and Halo 3.

Not much, you get a plasmid, its kind of dull really. You do however make two extremely bad decisions in the game.

Your signature has been erased by a mod because it's larger than 600x120....

I would agree but it is only a demo. You can't have the full game for free (even though it would be nice). The thing that really excites me was the ending movie showing all the features that will come with the full game.

For those who have played the demo or at least know what the game is about. Who here if accepted would go to a utopia like the one in the game? I personally wouldn't because I like being flawed and making mistakes but thats just me. Being perfect would be boring...

Yea, perfect is over rated.

As for the demo, freaking amazing. I would buy a new computer just so I could play Bioshock. Remember the one part where the enemy tried to attack the little sister? Big daddy is scary, but so awesome.

I really like the flooding effects, something we don't see very much off is realistic water and the water cascading down the stairs was great. Looks like another 360 shooter I'll have to buy.

Best FPS of all time! Really game mags are saying that. And you get 2 plasmids. A Fire Plasmid and Electric plasmid so you get more than one.

Its just a shame loads of people are getting it before the realease date, and they get people down in Toys'R'Us and making the store assistants giving it to them.

I just finished the demo, and I've got to say:

Why the hell isn't it a standard nowadays for FPSs to show the player's feet?! Its so easy, yet it makes it look so much more realistic than looking down and a) not seeing a shadow and b) looking like you're hovering in mid air. Dont show feet, fine, but at least limit the user's view so that they cant look directly downwards to see their limbless bodies.

There was also a bit too much environment scripting. Right from the first level, as you walk, lights turn on, if you stop for a couple of minutes, no lights ahead of you turn on, yet the second you step close to the next light, no more darkness.

Other than that, it was pretty good.

The First level is meant as a training level so it would be partially scripted but the rest of the game isnt. Also Ken Levine said that they would of put legs in but it slowed down a bit but they are going to realease it on the marketplace to buy, but i think we should get it for free but maybe.

Best

I find it hard to believe that adding another 400 - 500 polies and a good texture to an object rarely seen (so it's constantly culled anyways), to a game with insanely detailed maps and shaders, would effect the FPS much at all. It sounds like a "oops, we forgot about that" excuse, but I guess its always possible.

I've seen the demo movies and boy, that thing looks like it kicks butt, all the more reason to upgrade my PC to a new one (As it'll be out on PC as well I think I've read)

Anyone notice the religious aspect in the game? The little sisters carry "Atom", and you fight with "Eve" power.

Cheaper to buy a 360 - recommended specs are high.

The way they said it in the game it sounded like they said "Atom". Unless you mean the religious name is "Adam", which is what we were saying in the first place (they sound the same).

Probably, but my current computer is really dated and it's about time I upgraded anyway and may as well get one really high spec as it'll be cheaper in the long run - well depends how much spare money I get at uni and what decent PCs (Or even Macs) are going at the moment.

[edit]
I can get a MacBook Pro with 2gb ram, ATI geforce 8600 128mb and the CoreDuo 2 processor for about £1.3k minus whatever I get for student discount - sounds like a valuable buy to me - just stick XP into boot camp and I'll be able to play it. Seems like a good deal to me.

Same here, I have trouble running games that were made just a few years ago, not to mention any new games that come out. I think the last time I upgraded was early 2000s. Plus, I"m not going to buy an Xbox 360 for one game.

I don't know why you'd have the legs when you look down it will be pretty annoying to find a weapon and your legs are kicking it about that would be annoying!

What? When you hold a gun you hold it that far out that your legs would kick it? Thats a bit odd...

Look at Halo 2 for a perfect example. Legs / Feet / Some of the torso visible.

I cant tell if you're joking or not... They obviously wouldn't set collision on the legs... it'd be purely cosmetic as it is in all other FPSs that have legs. I was asking if in real life, you hold a gun so far out that you kick it, because if so, you might need to google up on how to properly hold one :/ .

Haha, yes - but I mean for other tasks as well as playing games, well anyway I found the PC equivalent for £800 (Except the gfx has twice the memory and is Direct X 9)- so knowing my cheapness, that might be what I go for.

It's around 2 days before Bioshock according to Steam, and yet there's no PC demo. I hope my x1650XT can handle the game.

"Rapture" is a christian belief too, but in the demo Ryan says the man in the vatican says the world belong to god as if in disagreement, kinda strange i think

Ryan makes a big fuss over the smugglers because of what they've been smuggling into Rapture.

*Spoiler*

Edit: Everyone who says about the Vatican bit he mentions if a man is entitled to the sweat from his brow? Then goes no says the man in washington it belongs to the poor. No says the man in the vatican it belongs to god. No says the man in moscow it belongs to everyone.

I quite enjoyed the game up until i

Now for some reason its gotten incredibly hard and every battle is an epic one, plus the lack of ammo and eve lying around.

Also, it is Adam, and your 'magic' is Eve...get the link? :-|

The gameplay is quite linear sometimes but the story is rather gripping, especially now, although i don't feel the urge to play it anymore.

Would you kindly buy it from me for double its retail price.

Game was fun to play on PC and has always been an inspiration for Seadome (well, actually, System Shock was). The news of Bioshock came when I had just started to plan out Seadome. It was quite a shock (háhá) for me, to see that a game on which I based my idea was getting a successor that seemed based on my idea . It turned out very otherwise, though, so I'm happy.

I felt the Plasmids made it more unrealistic to play and kind of felt unfitting at first, however, the more you get into the story the more absurd and fitting it gets. Bit like Metal Gear Solid - there's stuff that simply can't be, but still feels realistic.

Brilliant game, but a little let down by a lacklustre ending. It certainly goes up there with Half-life 2 for me as a defining FPS, but like most games, the ending was too....short.

I LOVED how much detail went into every environment. Certainly showed a lot of love. The art style was amazing, and the voice acting great...except for the aussie guy. He sounded crap lol.

All in all though, brilliant, well paced game.
