My comp will not support this program but I still really want it. Do you think this program is worth buying a new top-of-the-line computer for? Or should I just buy FPSC 1?

Also, since I'm probably not gonna get FPSC x10 because of my comp, should I get FPSC 1 or The 3D Game Maker? Which is the better buy? Like, which has the most features and customizations?

Its great if you wanna make games for 10 year olds. From time to time I will run it and play a quick stupid game I made.

3D Game maker is an excellent choice for making children's games as AlanC said.
However, if you want to make first person shooter games then get FPSC.

As far as buying a new computer for FPSC X10, here is my advice for your situation...

Buy FPSC v1 and download the current update, now.
Play with it and decide for yourself if the added features of X10 will be worth the invesment of a new computer.
I think after you have tried FPSC v1, then you will want to buy the X10 version and a new computer.
Besides, you are gonna have to do the upgrade eventually anyway, and the prices of the hardware will come down a little more while we wait for the release of FPSC X10 and you play with v1.

I bought a new computer mainly because of FPSC X10. I would have waited longer to upgrade but I want to be ready when it is released. This way, I still have the old machine that can make games for XP with v1, and I'll also have the new puter for making X10 games for Vista. I am one of those people who think it will be well worth it, and having both is the best solution for me. I have 3d GameMaker also, but I use it for non-commercial stuff because the 3DGM and FPSC licenses are different. It all depends on what you want to do and why you are doing it.

My advice, buy your upgrades a few weeks after X10s release. That way you can watch user videos, and read reviews, to see if its really that great or if it is another FPSC with spiced up graphics. By then all computer parts needed for this should go down a fair bit,

My opinion is:

If you want to keep your PC updated for the future game releases (UT3, Crysis, Frontlines, COD4, etc.), yes buy a Dx10 Card, Vista and lots of RAM (and a bigger HDD too in case you don't have it already).

If you only want FPSx10, don't waste the money and stick with FPSC X9.

In my opinion ...
BAH!

If you like FPSC X9 (ver 1.x) then you will want FPSC X10, so upgrade everything by buying a new computer.
