I am not sure if this has been adressed, but will x-10 have a control panel system to allow the players (after the game is built) to change the key, video settings, soung settings,...)

Thanks

Yeah, we should have something like that. And we should also be able to control what options you want in the menu. Just another idea...

You will be able to edit the values via FPI scripts.
You will need to script the panel yourself, but it will be possible.

that is what I can't understand, of all of the other things this can do, why no control panel??? This is the most common aspect of any game created in the last 17 years, but fpsc or fpsc x-10 doesn't have it.

Seems kind of challanged.

You can't script a panel btw, you would have to program it and scripting and programming are a whole lot different.

The people who are playing your game like to be able to adjust the controls to fit how they play better.

Some players prefer to fire with the ctrl key while other prefer the space bar... ETC I was watching an FPSC game on youtube and the people were bashing it because of this exact issue.

I really wish lee or someone would address questions like these, I know the program is cheap, but we should still be able to get some sort of recognition from the higher ups one way or the other about something I and some of you see as extremely important, more important than MP.

you think that's a problem?!?! look at games from 5 years ago. Most of them had vehicles, good fights (you no what I mean), turrets, good MP, good animations and good effects, even X10 doesn't over most of those and its requirements are ridiculous. The Q3 engine could make a better game than X10 and still run well on a 98,

this seems a little unfair, if you really wanted theses things, you could always learn to code dark basic and edit the source code, or just switch to dark basic, the fact is that you can create a decent looking game without having to know any code, obviously there not going to be high end as without knowledge of code, you can't customize your game that way. take it for what it is....fun!

Picky? you would really prefer a tiny little feature, that can already be done in FPSC with a 3rd party program, over performance? That is just sickening IMO. Sure it may be for fun for some, but some want to make a game of commercial quality. Looking at FPSC as a means of entertainment is really strange to me, the buggy-ness, and performance problems are quite a block if you want fun IMHO. And what good would re-coding the engine do, may I ask? Maybe I could add new features, but lee would have already made as many reasonable tweaks as possible. I'm just suggesting that more time should be given to performance than to features, how many copies of Half-life would have been sold if it had system specs like X10? And I doubt X10 can make a game even close to half-life. No need to bite my head off, especially when my suggestion is just as reasonable as yours, if not more?

The difference between fpsc and Halo, is that half-life doesn't use basic as its core. To top it off you are using an application built with basic to create a game on top of that language that is then being ported back to the language to be compiled at run time.

This is a drag and drop editor and while yes, they can do more especially since the requirements aren't as big a deal with x-10 as all of the computer will be high-end, but most of what your asking for isn't really possible and if you want to make a high-end game you need to move on to the quake 3 engine.

I am wanting normal basic functionality, and whatever features they can build in.

I also want a better scripting language with more features than what is being offered in fpsc which is limited in functionality for scripting together scenes. I want if, while, for, type capability

It would be more like moving back to the Q3 engine. But I was simply stating that I would prefer performance over features. Agree or disagree, it doesnt matter.

Those don't give you the ability to have a control panel for your game. From what I understand those are just installers and programs for protecting your game.

What he is referring to is something like this.

Hopefully users will be able to choose their own settings. I am pretty sure that TGC will not see many extended licenses being sold. Not many people will buy a 1000 dollar license if their game can not be more user friendly as the requirements are already killer.
