Wrong. He asked how long is a piece of string, and I happen to have a piece of string here, which is about 2 cm long.

The string is as long as our minds ponder; the more time we use thinking of this metaphorical string, the longer our chain of thought becomes. The string represents thought, and is therefore infinite. Until of course the mind is no longer capable of thinking, making the string immeasurably long and able to be terminated at any point...or it just possibly, might be another rhetorical question.
