Hi,

I am new to the DarkPHYSICS extension and I heard that the character controller is a real nightmare to use. Is it true? And if yes how do you control your player using PhysX? I have found a code snippet in the techniques section but it isn't good for me because the movement is very sloppy (instead of the controller it uses dynamic box). Anyway I just need some ideas on how to implement main character controlling system in my FPS game. I want to use the character controller but I am not sure whether I will be able to make it jump and crouch. Or maybe I should better code a system that will use ray casting for collision detection. Anyone can help me out?

Thanks in advance,
Olby

I am still working on this, so far I use a dynamic box just like in the techniques section....The problem is that its jittery. I am working on solving this issue...Anyways, your gonna need some kinda collision detection system in conjunction with DP. I use Sparkys, they get along great.

I have got my dynamic box to jump very easily, using sparkys and DP. Anways good luck.

Yeah, the DP char controller is crap. Never use it.

Use Sparky's. It's a free collision DLL.
