Well, it looks like the building category is going to be the winner; so I jumped the gun and made it. I kept in mind the ability to use the building to fight from, when making this little Hut on Stilts.

The first image shows the structure off a bit; while the second image illustrates that you can fire from the propped-open side windows.

Thanks.

I learned a few new things (new to me) UV Mapping and texturing this one. I haven't actually made anything for months now; so it took a minute or two to get back into it.

We've actually talked about combining the Model of the Month and the HUD of the Month, in a single theme...kind of a package deal.

Wow Keith, very nice I have to say, I didn't really expect you to have the time to do it now, why I set the poll on the date I did. Do you think it should be released early? or let people wait . I don't like being mean but It just means people will have to wait longer for the next one.

@
And Yes, Keith and I have decided to do a joint package deal for the months, basically setting a theme and releasing a model of some sort in the category chosen and a HUD to go along with it , that way I don't have to rush the HUD and gives you something more to look forward to

Nice one, Keith. I've seen all sorts of huts/houses on stilts today. I should snap some pics before I head back to the city.

Oh.... and this post... it does not exist

I had thought someone might use it for a deer blind or something.

Go ahead and release it now Matt; I'm sure everyone wants it now rather than later. We'll talk about what the next categories will be later as well.

Oh, and thanks for the additional comments everyone.

That would be great, Jake. I still have to get you those SAW pics as well; got Drill again next weekend. I've already talked to the Armorer about it.

I'd like to see this used in a jungle/Island (ala Farcry) level as well.

I believe it's total tri count is well under 500. I made sure to delete unseen polys in the stairs and stilts, etc. The collision seemed to work out well; although occassionally I had to run up the stairs, instead of walk up them. Each window is open at differing angles. There is a small porch at the top of the stairs before you enter the Hut. I decided against the porch going all the way around the Hut. You can also crawl underneath the Hut (or put stuff under it), for a suprise kill.

Thanks; I used a total of 3 different wooden board images, then altered them to fit the look I wanted. It's the first time I've used real photographs to texture a model. It'll come in handy when I finally do the retextures for my WWII Pack, that I've been promising to get done (need more hours in the day....).

I also learned how to better utilize the space on my UV maps, to get that clear/unblurred look.

Hopefully Matt will have it ready today sometime, so you guys can start using it.

One thing I've been wondering; for the generic format of my models, would you guys prefer .3DS or .OBJ?

Right now I use GameSpace, then I do the UV Mapping in Ultimate Unwrap 3D....then texture it in Paint Shop Pro X.
