CONTEST DEADLINE: NOVEMBER, 24 2007 - 00:00GMT - CHECK INSIDE!

Untitled is a online games magazine offered in the .PDF format created by tha_rami and Gil Galvanti.

Highlights!
* Eternal Equinox Competition - Be creative and win! (Deadline: 24th of November 0:00GMT)
* Dream - Exclusive Preview - Dream or nightmare?
* Halo 3: Worth the hype or worthless?
* What can we expect from Assassins Creed?
* Is there something like a free MMORPG?
And much, much more...

Download from TGC forums (6MB):

Download from external source (6MB):

You will require a capable PDF reader to view Untitled. You can get Acrobat Reader here or use FoxIt, an smaller and faster alternative by clicking here.

There are some issues with the pilot episode due to design flaws. I've just started using Photoshop and InDesign, so there are some serious problems with several things that could not be fixed before our set deadline. Examples are several pages could not be spell-checked by the revision department and the page numbering is off or non-existant on several pages. We hope you will look past these small inconveniences for this first try.

If you want to mail us to come in the Mailbox, have any comments, feedback, a game you'd love to see featured, tips, or would like to join up, mail us at tha[dot]rami[at]gmail[dot]com.[b]

Downloaded, I'll take a look at it later.

Are you mixing TGC/DB related articles with non TGC/DB related articles? If so, why? I wonder if that's a good idea.

It would be interesting with a magazine that focuses on the games, programs and products made by or for the community. Something that would complement the TGC newsletter in this area with a more magazine style rather then newsletter style.

We're focussing on both, as we feel without eachother we'd be short of content. Try for yourself: there are only a handful of titles that are possible within the scope of the magazine, which is complete or nearcomplete games. Also, we're trying to put independant game in another scope - that of worthy games or alternatives to normal games. While 'indie games' certainly won't match up to the next-gen violence of some of the titles, in the end Untitled will try and rate each game on its position in its genre and indepenant of graphics.

We're aiming to mix all types of (independant) developer news, but will stick to our TGC roots and prefer TGC news over non-TGC news.

Tha Rami:
In that case I think it may be of more interest for us if you focus on indie games rather then major titles like Halo 3 and Assassin's Creed. It's not like there's a lack of info on those titles. We TCG visitors could probably need a broader look on the indie scene and you might find good support from indie developers as well as sites and software that is aimed towards indie development. You might be able to get free copies of games for pre/reviewing, prices for your compos, press passes to shows (like the Independent Game Festival) etc.

Just my 2 cents...

We'll consider it, but honestly, we're not planning on changing too much to the formula. We enjoy giving opinions on big titles, discussing them and looking forward to them.

Downloaded, can't wait to give it a read later. I'm glad to have taken part in the first issue. It was funny, but as a testament to how pressed for time these guys were, Rami emailed me a few days ago and asked to interview me, and I was like "sure, won't be a problem," but I wasn't actually told what it was for, lol. It's the first time I've been properly interviewed since I hosted my radio show seven years ago. That would be awesome news if I had some fans, hehe. Anyway, also awesome that Eternal Equinox is mentioned on the cover due to the prize being given away, and there's a full-page advert in the magazine for EE. I'm honored .

I'm looking forward to reading this each month, and if I can find the free time I'd love to help you guys write it. Dunno, I'll email you about it hehe. Really awesome to have a magazine for and by indie developers with TGC favoritism. You might want to contact Bat Vink and see if something about this can be published in the newsletter.

Yup, I was planning in contacting BatVink, but not so much as to have this promoted as to link up our effort and maybe integrate some of eachothers' work. In the original concept, we had a special TGC page - we dropped it due to lack of ideas and content.

Haha, yeah, we were pressing for an October release for a good reason: many of the reviews in this pilot are rather 'old' games and we were really hoping not to be too late for some articles.

Heh, hey Matt, do check out the outro page during your read. We made a little hint at you as well.

Doesn't mean you can't display the picture on the screen. Hold a teddy bear, a train, a TV, your own head, a cracked nut, whatever you can think of in front of the screen with the unedited (maybe positioned) image and tadaa .

I skimmed through it - very nice! A few grammatical errors but overall, a great magazine. Also - thanks for reviewing Duality. I think you've got the focus about right: interesting "major" games, along with a bias toward indie games. It satisfies both the side of me that wants to know about major upcoming titles, and the side that is interested by what the community comes up with too

I'm not actually a Kiwi, I just randomly thought it up one day.

lol yeah I caught that. My posts aren't always that long, are they? hehe.

Yeppers, Eternal Equinox is a MISoft game. It's good to know I have enough "street rep" here on TGC that me making a game is a good indicator of its quality, hehe. Although it's nothing at all like the other games I've done, this one is more serious and all that . And if you don't win the contest on Untitled, you could always buy it hehehe.

You know what this magazine needs? Subscriptions. If I miss a single month of manually downloading the magazine, I just know I'll keep missing future iterations of it. Something to think about in any case

@Darth Kiwi:
Thanks for your positive comments. We do intend on taking the time to actually revise most of the text next issue, on which production has just started

@Roxas:
Go Finland indeed! As you can see, we were very enthusiastic about the upcoming title. Gil and I have been arguing for days about which game has more potential: Assassins Creed or Alan Wake. While we agreed both games were absolutely stunning, he goes for Assassins Creed and I go for Alan Wake. Since Alan Wake isn't as known a project as Assassins Creed, we decided to run the cover for Assassins Creed.

@Diggsey:
Totally. No, sorry, the focus is on the resulting games, not on development, although we are considering a "from the forums" or "Gamedev" section. We were thinking of contacting BatVink or someone 'into' the dev sector a bit more than we are.

@the admiral:
Thanks - we're really happy to see this flood of positive results.

Amazing job on the magazine guys! Really fun to read, great info, and I loved the layout and colors

Can't wait for the next one.

Suggestion: Put it up on a website instead. Make each page of the magazine an image. Adobe kills my computer.. took all day to load :S

If you have it on a website, then you can have the paid adverts as well, like Matt said

I agree with Deathead. Xenocythe was <Not gonna say it was better, but> just a bit more "easy". Not sure of wording, but you get what I mean.

Alright..zombs turn

This magazine was put together extremely well and I enjoyed reading it very much. A great blend of reviews and humour mixed in to form a great read. Now I usually skim mags and pick and choose pages so it took me a while to read it all but it was very well done, keep up the great jobs guys.

Suggestions for next issue-

The Imminet Death of Indie
Music-A theory or a life?
Controllers vs. Joysticks vs. Mouse and Keyboard

Um..keep kicking ass, great job guys, keep it up.

We're hoping to do a "Music in Games" article indeed, in coöperation with junkrock.

The imminent death of Indie is something we're not really discussing at the moment, especially not with the current 'selectiveness' of pro and amateur indie and new high-end products in example the TGC range. All indie needs to do in my opinion is learn to team up more professionally to live. There's talent among us that can get close to pro games, we just don't have the tools or people to use such things due to engine limitations - something that will hopefully change with the new TGC products.

I'm glad you liked the mailbox. We've recieved too little e-mails or forum reactions with questions about games, release dates, ideas ect. or suggestions to create a new mailbox rubric for feasible creation next issue, so we might consider to drop it for now. Or just make up some new ones again, I believe the made up ones were considered a good read.

Untitled 2 will try and cover the subjects promised: Super Smash Brawl, Mass Effect, a review of Assassins Creed and Call of Duty 4, more stupid comments by Gil (lol) and much, much more. It seems it will be a packed issue
