1. It depnds: If you buy it ready from a manufacturer it will. If you have built up the pc on your own there are some good chances you will try to suicide the next day.(if you get what I mean).
2. Well the answer is in your question. X10 should be in x10 otherwsise it wouldn't be called x10

1. Vista is stable for me, I bought it pre-built on my computer that I bought, I don't know how stable it is if you try and install it yourself.

2. Your friends that play the game don't need FPSC X10, but they will need Windows Vista, and a DirectX 10 compatible GPU. (8400,8500,8600,8800 etc)

A friend of mine says that there will be some sort of emulator out so people with XP can pretent to have Vista installed. Is this true?

On WinXP you can have install dos, win98 etc. simultaniously with some tools so maybe something like that will let you play X10 with WinXP?

If it is a user made product and not an official Microsoft product, then don't get your hopes up. Even if that were to happen, or even work (which it probably wouldn't), it would be so screwed up and frustrating that it would be better to just get vista. Vista is worth buying especially on a new computer.

I don't think it will work, and I'm sure everyone else will tell you that too.

Just get a laptop with X10 video and vista. The requirements for a desktop would also apply to a laptop.

1: In my house there are 3 vista comps & all of them seem stable.
2: Duh, of course not.
