I know my views on this probably aren't going to be taken well, but quite frankly why is it our problem these people are starving?
Sorry if I don't feel all that charitable to those "less fortunate" and such, but seriously why should we consern ourselves with the problems of these people when there are those in our own country homeless and starving due to our own economies yet you know full well that most of you when you pass them on the street never give them a dime.
Ever actually been to any of these 3rd world nations? Noticed how they conduct their lives... personally I only give charity to help people out who have the common sense to actually put that help to good use.
You realise that Africa (biggest charity case) is where the majority of Sugar and Precious metals come from; goods that really should make them them among the richest nations in the world yet they're stricen with poverty. Why? Because there is so much corruption from western influences, our culture is too advanced for them to understand and handle, plus they multiply like rabbits.
The business' in those nations (given most are run by western corporations) should be forced to adhear to our laws.
Minimum wages, etc..
Hell just taking out their corrupt governments and replacing them with our own and our laws would protect the people; install a sodding welfare system on the backs of the corporations currently making a mint from their labour.
It wouldn't solve the problem, but atleast it'll drag them into the 21st century with the rest of us. Also would cost a damn sight less than this constant "charity" with no return. You can say what you want about the old British Empire; but just look at the nations we used to rule over.
Agentina, South Africa, India, Australia, Ireland, United States and Western Canada. How many of those are considered charity cases?
Alright so they've all broken free and declared independance, also most fought for their freedom from day one; but you can't ignore the influence of British civilisation on them.
Hell, I bet without the Roman invasion Britian would still be fairly 3rd world. Sometimes the best form of charity is domination; alright not every nation is accepting to such things as England has been but still it'd solve so many damn problems with world poverty.
There are special cases (like Russia) where charity from afar is a better option, but they know how civilisation works. Africans don't.. they just want to mimic us without understanding why our civilisations work.
I'd seriously suggest taking a trip there, our footprint is clear to see on people that just weren't ready for it. It's like giving a mobile phone to a teenager, they'll love being able to call people but they have no concept of how much calls cost.
It takes them years to finally get used to the fact it costs quite a bit to keep that level of communication. As they were just given it and take the service it provides for granted so when you take it away they fail to understand how difficult or sometimes even why they're constantly being cut-off.
