What are some good software synthesizers out there? Please list the name of the software and some information on it such as instruments it includes and where one can gain more information on it.


I'm personally using Cakewalk's Dimension Pro. It comes with 7 gigabytes of a variety of sounds such as:

sampletank is ok, but I find the samples quite pedestrian
EW Colossus is a great piece of kit. All EW stuff is pretty fantastic to be honest.

Pedestrian - Lacking wit or imagination

Well I can see how someone looking for an orchestral soundbank would want imagination... except not... because they are looking for orchestral sounds... which sampletank has plenty of...

I just feel they usually need a little spicing up, there are some good ones on there but a lot of them are a bit bland for my liking, nothing too exciting. Just my preference though.
And I'm only talking about Sampletank 1 which is all I've used. Sampletank 2 may be better.

lol i have sampletank 2.2... im very happy with it (well minus the intel mac compatability fiasco) Ive heard rumors about tank 1 being crap thought, thandx for clearing that up!
