LOL
This is what happens when you ask a 3 year old about monsters.

Warning: Contains a word that starts with A and ends in S and possibly has an S in the middle. Just a heads up lol.

Ok, by laughing at the kid swearing, she's teaching it that swearing is funny/good, so the kid will keep doing it...Good parenting skillz right there

But it is funny - you have to think that this little girl can only use words that she knows to express herself, the fact that she used it correctly is a different matter than if she was swearing for the sake of it. There are far worse things that kids can do than mild swears, and there are far worse things that parents allow their kids to do. Anyone seen the video with the 4 year old smoking pot and beating on his little brother?

Maybe the little girl should be allowed to express herself, she wouldn't understand why calling a monster an a-hole is a bad thing - to her it's just a term used to describe horrible people.

"You should say 'butt'."
"Ooooh...."

Really funny video, and cute kid. I wouldn't actually pay much attention to that word, but that might be because I'm Norwegian and it's not unlikely that I don't find it as bad a word as it might be. I don't know. ^^

Can't say I heard the word a-hole once, but alot of "ask"
It's cute when kids use bad words, still you have a point Van; they often actually use them better than most teenagers and tbh I don't have a problem with that.

A word is only considered bad because of soceity, if no words were considered bad.. people wouldn't really use them, or atleast they'd be used more often in context.

I remember telling my Mum when I was a little kid that another kid was taking the 'piss' out of me, she didn't laugh...I was grounded...

My neighbour's kid yelled 'what the f*&%' and their parents didn't do anything, despite other kids in the vicinity that aren't her own, they're also loud and spoiled.

Kid's pick up swear words, sometimes they can be funny, I mean hearing one yell 'what the f&^*' had its funny side, but I hope the mother in that video teach her daughter that swearing is offense, because the little girl would get a detention for telling her teacher that's she'll kick their a**....

First off h**e (if your using the word i think your using)starts with a W.
but really there are worse things the kid could be doing/saying but its not good to encourage it your right Van.

First off, that's you're, not your.

Quote: "First off h**e (if your using the word i think your using)starts with a W."

Ok. It's not a wrong spelling though, as it's without a "w" in Norwegian.

Quote: "And what's *worse* than saying that to your mother (verbally)??"

What's "worse" i believe, depends on your language and geographical location. Different societies have different taboos. Naturally picked the word highest on the taboo list here at the time.

(In case you're wondering why i did so, she was a fascist )

I think this video is rather sad. Their not that good of parents if they expose their kids to that bad laungage.

IMO there are far worse things you can expose a child to than language. I've been familiar with bad language such as this since before I started school o.O Granted, I've never been able to cuss in front of my mom unless some serious stuff is going on. It's not even the fear of trouble that makes me not cuss, I guess the easiest way to explain it is out of respect for her. But yeah...children simply being exposed to bad language isn't inherently bad, it's rather how the parent reacts/teaches around it.

Indeed, we're all familiar with bad language from an early stage, but it's good to discourage it until they can really realise that it's offensive. Of course 'tis better than revealing sex and violence to your kids.

@Grandma
I don't care where you come from, calling your mum a prostitute is about the worst thing you could say (unless there's a Norwegian word for some kind of mega w**re sl*t bi**h )
and what's with the whole * thing? Everyone knows what the words are so why is just suggesting them OK but actually writing them is seen as offensive?

If you think about it most swear words are pretty pathetic; a$$ gets bleeped, why? what is so offensive about an a$$?

It seems that our taboo words are all about sex and excrement, which although I'm not a big fan of excrement I don't see why.

Why isn't murder a dirty word?

[edit]
haha
"you should say kick his butt"
"Ohhhhh"

why is a$$ offensive and butt isn't? It's ridiculous, it's as if we've set up good and bad words for things on purpose so that when we are pissed off we can offend people easily hahaha

At one point in time during some political meeting an MP used the word s**t, and because they were talking about excrement in the sewage they desided that it was OK and they let it pass.
So you can describe excrement as s**t but you can't say the Prime Minister's S**t.
(I'm not suggesting anything political, just so as you know, I have nothing against the Prime Minister.)

Ass isn't offensive...Eddie Murphey played as an Ass in Shrek, arse is what is what is offensive...

The English language is a strange thing, words meaning the exact same thing have a different level of intensity in 'harhness'. Though as a kid words like 'butt' and 'knickers' were naughty, I got sent to the head mistress' office because I said 'knickers' once. 'Naked' was also naughty and so were other slightly 'rude' references. As I got older I was allowed to say more and now my parents don't mind if I swear left, right and center because legally I'm an adult - at 16 I would have been told 'oi' if I said stuff like the f-word.

@ OBese87

Quote: "unless there's a Norwegian word for some kind of mega w**re sl*t bi**h"

Well...

Kind of. It's like when you add the word f**k**g infront of the actual insult to amplify it. But we have a word or two designed to to just that. We don't use another "bad" word like f**k**g or bloody (can't see how bloody is a bad word though).

So that's what i did. added the amplifier word, the proffession, and a bodypart. For the ultimate nice thing to call your mother.

Quote: "and what's with the whole * thing? Everyone knows what the words are so why is just suggesting them OK but actually writing them is seen as offensive?"

I once wrote a "bad" word, and Apollo wouldn't let me post until i removed it. That's why we use *'s. A bonus is also so that we don't corrupt young easily impressionable minds such as yours.

Quote: "why is a$$ offensive and butt isn't?"

I thought the lady would say "bum" or something when she said to the girl that saying a$$ is bad. Haha and she said "butt" which i always thougt was a much "worse" word. It's certainly odd, i agree.

Edit:

Words are words, get over it. As someone said before the word used in this video is only what the girl uses to describe what to do when frightened or threatened. To her it could simply mean scare him away. Just because a child says what society dictates is a "bad" word doesn't mean they're going to be bad people. In my opinion those that fret over sounds that people make are only condemning bad language because it's what they've been taught.

I "fret" over it because it sickens me. It's not like I'd quit my job or anything if someone says it, I just greatly dislike it, that's all, and wish that things were different.

Hehehe hahah heee tehee. Swearing and nothing but used not in a joke but as spit in wordplay is disgusting but he's right, nonone is gonna have a heart attack from ***k or the like..besides the f-bomb isn't even a bad word to me, it conveys my aggravation. Example

When I"ve had it to the neck of things

Gahh..I'm just so f***ing angry. vs. Gahh I'm just so mad

The clean version is dry and does not empty my aggravation, I want the emphasis of my frustration known, that is why I am yelling it out instead of thinking it.

wtf... how the hell has this kept going and going about cussing?
isn't it all a matter of perspective?

as far as i'm conserned when i have kids, they can use whatever language they want as long as they use it in context and it ain't directed at me (or their mom)

else i don't care what the law says, they'll get a swift wack around the lughole for it.

then again i don't see anything inherintly bad about any particular words really; i mean there are seven words that are cuss/bad words, but ass certainly isn't one of them.

in-fact most of the words we use today aren't those original 7 ones that we shouldn't use but do anyway. (for those wanting to know what I'm talking about an have no clue, get out your bibles or websearch the online one as it lists them )

It has, just because I'm allowed to swear and say what I want, just because the boundaries have been removed doesn't mean I immediately become disrespectful, just because they let me swear left, right and center now, doesn't mean I do it. So yes their discipline has taught me something...

I'll admit the video is funny, and yes there are much worse things a parent can do, so need to have your knickers in a twist over it - though it is not a good idea to encourage swearing on kids...but come on this thread is getting rather daft.

OK to prove the whole swearing thing is ridiculous I will attempt to get the word "mud" recognised as a swear word
starting.... NOW!

Bum is the same thing as ass and it doubles as a verb so why isn't it more offensive?
